Movie Analysis: Ready Player One

The Ready Player One movie is marvelous. It talks about how virtual games work it is. Especially now, we have the advent of technology in our world. Ready Player One is an enormous example of this generation, that those young people are addicted to the internet and online gaming, making yourself involved in virtual gaming can make you happy and stress-free to your problems. Playing virtual reality games can escape or bypass in the real world for a while. It can improve further your creativity when it comes to survival in the games. OASIS is the way to salvation in their cruel society. Halliday created the OASIS that the hunters will find the golden egg and if you will win the game, you have the privilege and money to control the OASIS. The actor wade found his friends in a virtual game that can you lean on in challenging games or online games.

Watching Ready Player One movie can give you learning and insight into how virtual reality game is different in the real world. While watching this movie, I've learned that reality is more fun than being addicted to online gaming. We people have problems in our life that sometimes we want to end or step aside from it. Playing virtual reality games like wade to escape from their cruel society is one of the examples in our real-world now. I've learned that we don't let technology controls our life, our lives needed our attention also. So that, don't let technology or the internet authority our individual lives. Reality hurts and that's true but at least we face problems with a strong personality. We should embrace and appreciate our reality. As I remember, one of the characters says " In life, you don't need to solo your problems because, in reality, you have us".  In life you don't need to be a single-player, you can have also a friend or multiplayer if you want. According to Wade " People need to spend more time in the real world and Reality is the only thing, that's reality".

"The Status Of People With Digital Divide"

Why do we have a digital divide in our society? Is this important? According to my research “The term digital divide is used for several different social purposes, particularly personal computers for accessing and using digital equipment and services and for accessing the Internet in terms of physical accessibility and facility of use”. Access is the key explanation for the digital divide. While this is a significant contributor in the digital divide, technological cost, access to disabled people, lack of qualified persons, lack of knowledge, lack of information, and computers with lower efficiency. One of the timely examples of the digital divide is our current educational system, which relied on online learning or e-learning. For now, some students don't have the luxury of having a big amount of money to buy gadgets for them to comply with the basic needs of online learning, especially we face a crisis right now or the COVID pandemic in nationwide. Those students who cannot afford it will find it difficult to access e-learning. While those who are capable and stable money and lives, they are the one who has a privilege to access in the online class or blended learning.

As a student we cannot avoid the digital division in the school especially the gap of public and private students in the same school. To narrow the gap of the digital divide because it is good to be true if there are no boundaries, anymore but my solution for that is to utilize the industry of computer shops through sponsorship of some private groups or individuals to sponsor a student to use the units of a computer shop. As a student digital divide is not important, wherever you even you are rich or poor when it comes to learning and capability in school they are all the same. A saying says “I would not minimize the digital divide, which separates the computerized world from the rest, nor would I underestimate the importance of traditional books”. –Robert Darnton

“The Setbacks of Piracy”

Why Piracy is illegal in Nationwide especially in the Philippines? According to John Philip Jenkins “Piracy is robbery or any other violent crime performed on or outside the usual jurisdiction of a state for private purposes and without public authority or prior permission". Doing piracy is definitely illegal. Piracy was known as an infringement of the rule of nations. Piracy is a very rampant issue up until today. It is one of the greatest problems that the artist would probably encounter. From movies, music, and even video games. Piracy may be considered as an act of stealing. Stealing something from others to enrich yourself at their expense is illegal. Thus, the original creator would be taken away the privilege to benefit from their original works. It would lessen their sales as people would resort from buying to those cheaper pirated products or work. Considering also that piracy or pirating someone's work doesn't require permission but you can gain profit from it although it is obviously illegal.

Of course, a cheaper price would easily attract price-sensitive consumers so it would reduce market competition and increase market price. Proprietors are worried about their work would be copied by others especially the work that they make is famous and trend at same time. Moreover, concerning the global scale of piracy activities on video content, music, and video games there are both reasons for hope and concern. On the other side, more and more programs from the industry tend to work and at least curb the acceleration of piracy. Therefore, pirates find increasing ways of reaching customers with illegal content. Republic Act 8293 Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines and the Anti-Camcording Law is a law that can protect what the creators do and make. Avoid doing piracy or stealing someone's work to make us famous and to make a profit because we have a law that protects any original works to imitate with others.  A saying says “I think piracy is a bit like drinking. You want to stay out all night doing it, you pay the price the next day.”

"The impact and changes of new media in today's generation"

New media is accessible anytime and anywhere. It is considered as a news tool. With the help of social media sites like Twitter and Facebook, you'll be able to read and be informed about what is happening around you. It is not like in the Broadcast and Printing media because you have to get a newspaper, magazine, etc to get some piece of information or news about what's happening around you. New media also allows you to connect with other people all over the world. Like old friends, families, and colleagues who live far away. It has been easier for people to communicate with others, sharing the moments, sending pictures and videos through social networking. This has made long distances between people, easier and faster. New media is also a great help, especially in education. Thus, all the educational information is just one click away. Students can educate themselves on various topics using the technologies that new media introduced.

Moreover, live lectures or meetings are now possible with the help of social media, especially now that we are dealing with this pandemic and new normal is introduced to education. In five years, people will effortlessly be able to receive and send messages from a wide range of audiences with the help of high technologies. It can give easier access to a lot of things seeing that almost all people would be using high-end technology. Transactions would be done paperless and so face-to-face interaction would be made much more impossible. People would then prefer to do things that are easier and not time-consuming. Social media has a major impact on how we receive our daily news. Almost all of us get to decide to hear news from apps on their mobile phones because of convenience. With this, digital advertising is expanding while traditional media may be on its way out. The rise of fake news will also be a huge challenge.
