Taking A Break

Hey All, hope you're doing well.

Due to some things going on, I've decided to take a break for a little while. I've been pleased with myself that I've been able to keep a fairly consistent upload pace of at least once a week, but I'm not feeling much of a creative drive at the moment, and I feel that looking for subjects to draw is cutting into time I don't really have right now.

So, I'm going to take a break. Commissions and the tip jar will still be open, but be aware I might not be checking my pages as often as I currently do, so I might not be quick to answer any questions you might have.

My intention is to return at the very latest for Drawtober, but if inspiration hits, I'll still post, it just won't be every week as it has been so far.

Hopefully by the time I return, I might have an actual story project ready to go. No promises, but I'd like to get back to that, if I can.

Booker - Legends of Avantris

"Alright, when we get to ClickClock, I'm gonna blow your mind."

Booker from the Legends of Avantris D&D crew, specifically their Uprooted: Dimwits of the Dimwood campaign. He's usually shown with his ears poking through his hat, but it looked kind of weird at the angle I wanted, (They just kind of sat on top of the hat) so he's keeping them hidden here.

One of these days, I've got to sit down and watch these campaigns in full, becuase if the shorts are anything to go by, they seem like a lot of chaotic fun.

Cherry blossom season in Japan is probably long over, but there's a few cherry blossom trees near where I live that bloomed recently, so here we are with the inspiration.

Also Kana Higa from Okitsura: Fell in Love with an Okinawan Girl, but I Just Wish I Knew What She's Saying, because she's cute and clips of her kept popping up in my YouTube recs. :D

Star Wars Day - Mando

*Bass recorder Intensifies*

May the 4th be with you, and all that.

Mostly inspired by Din Djarin, and Mandalorian armor in general.

I think I screwed up the perspective a bit with this one. I was trying the backgrounds without outlines look again, but I think the dunes just kind of blend together a bit too well. Also struggled a bit to make it look like he's walking towards you, so I think I need to work on shadows there.

I really like how his cloak came out though. Might be a bit too Superman-esque, but I like the flowing out behind him look, so there's that.

Earth Day - Earth Chan

Happy Earth Day! According to Bing, anyway. :)

You know, you never realize how complicated draw Earth is until you use Google Earth as a template. I tried to hide most of it with cloud cover, but without the British Isles, I'm not sure you'd be able to tell it's supposed to be Earth.

At least Earth-Chan's hair came out slightly better. Again, I used Google Earth for reference, but because there's more visible, it's easier to see what it's supposed to be.

National Unicorn Day - Sunset Shimmer

Sunset Shimmer, shimmering at Sunset, as a Unicorn, in a meadow (because why not?)

My search bar tells me it's National Unicorn Day, apparently, so here we are. :D

More experiments today, this time with the background outlines (or lack thereof) and harder background shading against the character's softer shadows. I like drawing the moutains this way, but I think maybe the fields don't come across as 'rolling hills'? Things to work on, anyway.

Deviantart Daily Challenges - Rodent (Pikachu)

Well, mice are rodents, so, you know, I'll take what I can get.

In all truth, I had a Shadow the Hedgehog one lined up for today, but then I was reliably informed that hedgehogs aren't rodents and Robotnik was just being rude about Sonic, so here we are. So yes, quick and easy character art was the rule of the day.

Experimented a bit with softening the edges of the shading today. I think it still needs a bit of work, figuring out the solid to faded ratio, but as a first attempt, I think it's pretty good.

Deviantart Daily Challenges - Doctor (Who)

"I'm the Doctor, that is the Master, who I see isn't holding on to anything, and this... is a black hole. Bye!"

Inspired by the Ninth Doctor as played by Richard E. Grant in the revival that might have been, Scream of the Shalka.

I say 'inspired', because I couldn't find the right assets for a true one to one. The coat and cape thing in particular was an asset next to impossible to find.

I'm not sure why this incarnation in particular (10 has my favorite stories and 11 is probably my favorite overall). I'm just fascinated by the what ifs of my entertainment, I guess.

Adding XL Versions to Tip Jar!

Hello, friends. Just a quick update for you all.

So, as you might know if you read the post descriptions, for the past month or so, I've been experimenting, trying to improve the final look of my pieces so they don't quite look like the mouse drawn pieces they actually are.

Part of the process involves blowing the piece up to double its' original size, and while I shrink them back down makes it easier to see the piece, I felt that it was a bit of a waste that the XL versions aren't being seen.

So, as thanks to anyone who drops something in the tip jars, you get access to the extra large versions of the pieces I upload! At the moment, if only goes far back as February 19, 2025 (Daily Challenges - Fashion (Rarity) ) and unfortunately the one I did for World Book Day seems to have gotten corrupted somehow, but This method has been getting some good results, so hopefully the Tip Jar Gallery will keep growing.

To be clear, this is less an incentive to tip and more thanks for donating. Nothing I post to the Tip Jar Gallery will be exclusively behind a paywall. Basically, from now on, if you see it in the regular gallery, you'll be able to see it in the Tip Jar gallery too, just double its' size.

Mourn Watcher Rook from my second playthrough of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, albeit if I had access to Emmrich's sense of fashion and body sliders that were as diverse as the face ones. I gave her sticking out Elf ears because it wasn't obvious from the angle.

Huh. Been on a real Equestria Girls kick lately. Just the way the prompts inspire me at the moment, I guess.

And who's more 'fashion' than a fashionista, right?

I did some experimentation with this one, trying to improve the look that I feel I've been lacking due to drawing with a mouse over an art tablet. The goal is to smooth things out a bit, so pieces don't look as vectored as they actually are. It's a learning process, so any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Equestria Girls - Sunset Shimmer

Drew this up for Valentine's, but then the prompt was more Twilight appropriate, so here we are with a double upload.

This was actually an idea for a CG for an Equestria Girls visual novel I had. The project fell through for various reasons, (lack of time, trouble with assets, fears of Hasbro Cease and Desists, etc) but I've been flip-flopping on coming back to the idea, maybe with original characters to avoid most of the potential copyright issues. The story made heavy use of EG's stories as a basis, but I'm thinking I could tweak enough things that it could go on Steam and not rile up the lawyers.

As I said, it's just a thought at the moment, so it may or may not happen. 'Til then, Happy Valentine's Day, all!

I think I made her mane too short. It's supposed to be flying out behind her, but I struggled a bit with the foreshortening. Also gave her some random jewelry and princess boots because why not?
