people can do whatever they want with fictional characters forever but one thing that always pisses me off is how aro/ace characters are treated in shipping.

while it is a naive mentality to tell people never to ship aspec characters, saying “aces CAN have sex” and “aros CAN be in a romantic relationship” to defend erasing their aspec identity just to ship them as if they were like an allo person means you don’t respect their identity, nor ours. yes aces can have sex. yes aros can be in a romantic relationship. but they will still be aromantic and asexual while in that relationship. and don’t even get me started on using demi identities as an “easy explanation” for why it’s okay to allowash them. other identities are treated with such absolution, so why should we continuously get the short end of the stick?

so i guess the thesis of this post is that people are absolutely allowed to ship aspec characters but if you mfs don’t care enough to understand the nuances of our identities i’m taking your aspec blorbos and putting them on a high shelf

Hey aspec tumblr. Can I show you how TERFs treat asexual lesbians and LGBT aces real quick? (this is a bit of a repost)

As a lesbian, who's experienced lesbophobia from Catholic spaces, who is also Black and experiences antiblackness from other queer people on top of that lesbophobia and as a Black woman who's experienced constant antiblack sexualisation via misogynoir, this is what TERFs say to me solely because I have mentioned asexuality and call myself asexual. Look how they've described me: a parasite, a homophobe, potentially traumatised or medicalised, a little baby and apparently I'm never experienced the #gaystuggle before in my life. This is what TERFs do to lesbians who they consider deviant. This is how TERFs treat women they see as expendable. And this is nothing compared to how they treat trans women, especially who are also lesbian and/or asexual and especially Black trans women to the most.

You align yourself with patriarchal definitions of sexuality, when those same definitions of patriarchal sexuality were created by fascist men, when you align yourself with a white billionaire transmisogynist and call yourself 'feminist', yeah I will call you a bitch. I'll keep doing it. I'm not part of the #sisterhood with TERFs and radfems just because we both have coochies. I really don't give a fuck. Its nothing compared to the reactionary shit you spew on the regular and harm you cause in society. I will never feel bad for cussing my oppressors just because they happen to be women.

It doesn't matter the split attraction model was created in the 1800s, the various studies on asexuality's existence, that JKR's rhetoric is aligned with fascism no matter how hard her TERF tumblr tap dances for her online, that I as a Black lesbian with low income fit one of the main risk groups of LGBT young adults, something these women pretend to care about, that this post is talking about ROMANTIC ATTRACTION without sex and as per, they refuse to believe it exists or the glaring contradictions in that one of these girls says sexuality doesn't have to be a part of sexuality whilst the other says you can't be gay without sex BACK TO BACK. TERFs are fundementally against asexuality because they have always been against sexual autonomy. And will always hate women like this.

Rather than thinking my aromanticism or asexuality limits the way or how much I love my girlfriend, I think it actually allows me to love her in the purest and truest form.

Very amused by allos befuddled by Rowling's random-ass aphobic tweets. They're like, "but why is she so mad at a bunch of people whose thing is just not wanting sex?"

Babes, have you ever seen the way men treat a woman reading a book wearing headphones on public transit? Taking yourself off the table for any reason is like a declaration of war for these people.

"But isn't wanting sex supposed to be bad evil thing fundies hate? Aren't they all for chastity?"

Chastity and abstinence is about denying and depriving yourself of something you need in order to conform. It's about embracing suffering for performative virtue. Asexuality is not denying yourself anything, it's denying other people the gratification of our participation in something we don't want. That makes us just as much of a threat to their way of life as the people who dare to have non-monogamous, non-heteronormative, non-reproduction-focused sex outside of marriage.

So are trans people and homosexuals and every other kind of queer dawg. We all just wanna mind our own business. We're all targeted because we're minorities and therefore vulnerable. The rationales and reasons come after the fact.

But as funny as the idea is that she just spins a Random Beef Picker wheel whenever the mold gets loud, the fact is that 1) people who gain clout from the outrage economy need to find new "threats" and targets all the time to keep their cult stimulated and engaged, 2) she's working her way through rationalizing hating every kind of queer until she reaches the final boss— the cis white gays and lesbians that are part of her own cohort. Then she can turn on them and finally get her alt right crown.
