The tale of an orphan rising to wealth with an unknown benefactor intrigued me. How he handled a society that would have never accepted him...how he learned through intense trials and failures, how to accept himself. . When I was young, I related to Pip and was frightened of Havisham. Now, as an adult, I fully understand her madness. . You see, I feel that most of us live a Pip-esqe type of life. Greed and self centered-ness (?). Low hanging fruit. Easy wins without fully knowing the rules until it's too late. Until we lose ourselves. Until we are permanently blinded by that which is sinfully simple to purchase but cost us our soul in the end. . But Havisham, despite walking the same path that destroyed her, took heed and stood watch for those who still had a chance to repent, retreat from the ledge and do something that is bigger and productive. All this in her madness. . Being off-putting is being a Havisham, of surviving the void of the Abyss and still breathe on this mortal coil. Being a Havisham is not easy, but her heart radiated as bright 20,000 suns. Enough to warn, give council and deter. . I am okay with my madness. I am okay with my solitude. I am okay with being a Havisham...as long as I can give what I never received. Meramie, John and I drink wine and talk spirituality, gallon wine and Filipino food. . I'm served Bibingka (rice and coconut cake with salted duck egg baked in banana leaves) and Halo Halo with young coconut and palm jelly. . Then we talk politics. The couple watched Florida's downward spiral and listen to my perspective. . "You know, despite what has happened...most people hate who we put in office. The young people are lost in their five mile jogs or their 10 mile mimosas. I only witnessed one family exuding happiness, but they were Cubans passing through to Puerto Rico where they lived. I walked to a Cafe earlier, a famous one in historic Ft. Lauderdale...you know the one with all the famous people on the wall? Donald Trump was there, and the largest, but his portrait was the only one covered in dust. . The only one. . Pride kills sure and slow. It is the last 24 hours with @reverend_dr_dj_riz , @leandergreeny , Mr. Bunny, Laura, Randy, Ken, Melissa, Craig, Rachel, Phil, Brenda, Bino and Crickett. . We have all elevated in a serendipitous way. We all seek solutions and growth. We absorb, ingest, reflect and give each other wisdom we can actually use. . It is low key therapy, but one steeped in courage and movement. It was time for me to ask for help. So, I did. . I talked to one of the voice actors today and asked simply: Do I need an agent? . He listened to my history, and my voice, and abruptly stopped me. . "It's time. You are on track for an Emmy. It is time for more money and more representation on a larger level. If you are doing voice, you can upgrade your equipment...but you do not have to move. It's time, Jada. It's time to let the world see the face along with your voice." . Later, in private, I wept. To remember, to mourn and to accept. I gave up everything for this moment. Ten years as a performer, eight years as a voice actor...now, I will take my batter dues to Los Angeles and have the chance to the limelight. .
