favorite ice cream flavors?

Dr. Phoenix: Ooh, that's an easy one! I love cookies and cream, easily the best ice cream flavor there is. Something about the general smoothness of ice cream with a little bit of a crunchy chocolate wafer to bite does it for me. Fridays are our movie nights, so we'll get together, pick out something we haven't watched before, rent the DVD, and have a nice night. I like to make sure I have pint of cookies and cream for that!

Though, I do usually get a pint or two from the corner store during the week as well. Not exactly the best habit, but life is meant to be enjoyed and I'm content with this.

Dr. Charkoal: There's this wonderful wildflower honey you can get from a market out by Callaiaster. It comes straight from the source, sold by the Combee who make it, so it is a little more expensive than the corporate honey you will find stocked on the shelves of your local supermarket or grocery. The price is worth it, in my opinion, because the flavor is far better than the corporate honey and it goes quite well with many sweet and spicy berries.

…ah? You were asking for my favorite ice cream flavor? Yes, I just put honey and berries on it. I suppose the flavor that goes best with is plain vanilla.

Dr. Steele: I don't often eat ice cream on my own! If I'm having something like that, it's usually because I'm sneaking a bite from Winter or Ebony. I do like their choices as well; it's hard to go wrong with a classic like cookies and cream, and I like the way that Ebony's bowl ends up being fifty percent honey and spicy berries by volume. That said, there was this one flavor I found once with a fruity base and crackling rock candy, and I quite enjoyed the unique textural experience it provided. Hope this helps!

Alvis: Sorry if this is disappointing, but I don't actually enjoy ice cream. In fact, I can't really eat dairy products in significant quantities without facing some kind of negative side effect, so my usual snack of choice would be something savory instead. Perhaps a soft pretzel would be nice.

what kind of plants do you grow in your garden, dr. charkoal?

Dr. Charkoal: The answer to your question depends on which garden you're referring to, though I'm sure you've already heard me talk about my little berry orchard. I suppose I haven't talked about my home garden. The space I have to work with there is a bit more limited at home than it is here, so my main garden is mostly dedicated to herbs and other "useful" plants I can fit in the area, simply because I do not respect stores that try to sell me something I can so easily grow myself. A sentiment perhaps strengthened by Audrey's reinforcement.

That said, I do also keep plenty of flowering plants in my home as well, grown in individual pots and planters. I recommend growing your own herbs and vegetables if you can, it makes the meals you cook with them taste much better.

Dr. Steele: Ah, Iris. Well, she's quite mysterious, isn't she? And impressive too! It's not every day that someone manages to sneak into my home, after all. Even after months of visits from her in the lab, I know just as little about her as I did that night. Maybe we'll be able to find time for lunch after this little project is over?

dr. charkoal, what has your latest botanical work been like? nothing top secret, of course, but anything fun?

Dr. Charkoal: Oh yes. I'm not sure if this is what you have in mind, but I'm going to talk about it anyway. I've been experimenting with berry hybridization in my off time. There are some incredible variants you can't find fresh at even the most niche markets.

Dr. Phoenix: Have you considered that's because you're the only one who actually likes that Spelon-Liechi hybrid that'll melt your tongue?

Dr. Charkoal: Ah, that may be true, but it keeps my lunch safe from dragons who don't ask before eating.

Dr. Steele: But not from me!

Dr. Charkoal: Hmm, but not from you, this is true. I'll have to grow something more potent to deal with you, Audrey.

Dr. Steele: Ooh, "polycule"—is that what the kids are calling it these days? Ah, well, to answer your question, we've all had our eyes on different scientific minds from time to time, but at present it's just Minty, Ebony, and me. This could always change in the future; hopefully it changes for the better!

Dr. Phoenix: Wha—? Me? Holding a seminar? I'm sorry if I've ever given you a false impression otherwise, but I can hardly stand in front of anyone I don't know personally, let alone hold my own seminar.
