fucking church mouse be damned. she was no prude, golden cross laid in the middle of collarbones didn’t have to mean that. wouldn’t mean that. and there’s this nagging curiosity, dark eyes like saucers during a scene. (that’s what rj calls them). a little girl turned camera woman turned voyeur. so she’s tiptoeing across wooden floorboards, frilly socks covering ankles. maxine’s in the kitchen, line of coke snorted from the breakfast counter. and lorraine’s gotta ask. “y’know the sounds and stuff, are they real? just, i was watchin’ an’ it don’t seem all that nice.” she takes an apple from the fruit bowl, thumb rubbing over its red skin. “was just wonderin’. i—i didn’t wanna bother anybody else. think they think i’m no good for any of this.”

Absolute elation overpowers slender frame as cocaine entwines with your bloodstream in a euphoric, familiar rush. 

You aren’t chasing a high. You’re chasing a higher power: a heightened sense of something that goes beyond yourself. Within the baggies hidden in overall pockets, the ecstasy of feigned orgasms, and the knowingness that comes with knowing nothing at all, you’re on the edge of a exultant sensation that could only come from creation.
