The "Pyramid Story" Spread

A Multi-Purpose Divination Spread for the Discerning Acolyte

Early in my practice with different forms of divination, I found myself feeling so bogged down with all the different tarot spreads online and in books, and somewhat overwhelmed trying to remember which spreads to use for which situations and questions. I didn't feel that deep, intuitive connection to any of them, that sudden "Aha!" moment I did with the more abstract forms of divination, and my readings suffered for it. After a while, I decided if I could not find the solution, I would make one myself.

I resolved to design my own spread, one that aligned with the abstract, nuanced, multi-faceted style of other styles of divination (such as scrying or rune tossing). I wanted a spread that didn't have to be read in any specific context. I needed each card to be unique yet open-ended, and not locked into a specific place in the "story" of the answer. The spread had to be loose and interpretive, it needed to be optimized to allow energy to flow efficiently without constraints, while still directed and focused through the conduit which would interpret said energy.

At the time, I was also studying sacred geometry, remembering the importance of the triangle. I thought about how its shape could be used to draw in and direct energy, and began testing different formations with my cards. After a few weeks of experimenting with different layouts, varying amounts of cards, shuffling the order in which I placed the cards, etc, I finally settled on something that felt right to me.

The spread became more than simply a method of matching A to B and reading guidebooks back and forth. It was a conduit for the spirits and the energy itself, and the cards came alive. For the first time, it felt like the cards were really speaking to me. I still needed to check the guidebooks for my decks here and there, but it wasn't because I needed to interpret what the definition of the card meant in the context of the position it was in and whatever spread I was using. Instead, I found myself double checking more often than not to make sure I was right after my initial examination through psychic intuition, as the clarity I found with this new spread was surprising to say the least.

I've been using this spread almost exclusively for the past 6 years, except when I'm trying to save some time and don't need as deep of an answer. This spread doesn't just give you an answer, it tells a story. It reaches into the past, expands on the present, and ponders the future, as well as illuminates forces influencing the situation or inquiry. I highly recommend using 2 or 3 decks for this reading, as it is a lot of cards and can be hard to get the level of detail you may be seeking. Of course, if you feel comfortable using a single deck or even more, do so. Also, feel free to use this with Oracle cards and other forms of divination as well. I often mix multiple forms of divination, spirit communication, and energy reading for big readings. Trust your own intuition always.

The inverted pyramid shape in the middle with the "open" tip is meant to guide energy towards the reader to better focus the senses, and can be read from left to right, top to bottom. It tells the sequence of events from an outside perspective, giving emotional objectivity and deeper insight beyond personal bias. Typically, it will progress from past to present through the first 5-8 cards. The remaining cards will detail more about the present, as well as contain likely future outcomes based on the current variables. Sometimes though, this section will channel direct messages to you that are related to the reading and may not follow a specific (or any) chronological order. This partly depends on the type of reading being performed, as well as energies and forces at play. Spirits and such you work with may use this time to contact you. Be open to whatever answers it holds for you, and take the time to feel the energy that the reading gives off. Set your intentions beforehand to ensure clarity and focus, both within yourself and your cards.

The triangle of cards around the middle structure is meant to focus and balance the energy of the reading, as well as anchor it within a "circle" of sorts, and represents the forces influencing the situation. They could be people, personal qualities or choices, lessons you have yet to learn, or more. The open space below the formation is where I will typically draw further cards, toss runes, and/or place scrying mediums to gain further insight if I have more questions after the reading that are related to it. For when I'm using this space for cards, I'll typically do a 1-3 card spread without shuffling for each question I have, just adding my new intentions into the already gathered energies before drawing. Feel free to use this open space however you'd like, or not use it at all if you are satisfied with the reading. I have even used the open space to perform rituals related to the topic of the reading. Below is the layout. Please feel free to save it for your own use!

The cards are telling me about the business I've recently started. I'm at a turning point in my life right now, trying to make a new path for myself in this world. The Middle Path

---

Often times, I hear talk of left or right hand practices. On one side, you submit yourself to something supposedly beyond you, greater than you, and give yourself to it fully so that you may become one with it. On the other side, you attempt to deify yourself, attempting to master and control these forces and make them your own. It seems to me that the debate between the two is where the source of divinity is. If you also notice, both sides agree that each individual is connected to some universal flow in some way.

If we are all one with creation, then where does that truly put divinity? If all things are connected, then shouldn't divinity be present in all things? Many spiritualists have theorized that spirits (be they demons, angels, deities, whatever) are all a part of our psyche, that they are in some way intrinsically linked to our collective consciousness. I believe that, like Bill Hicks said, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. Each piece of the whole is a different perspective through which to perceive itself, to know itself, to grow and learn and evolve.

I posit a new path to walk, acolytes. Join me on the Middle Path, where all spirits are equals to you and all are empowered, through the self and a personal support team in the beyond. Why grovel at the feet of an entity, or bind it through torturous arcane rites, when you can form a long term partnership built on trust, respect, and co-creation?

New Guide Dropped! 12 Beginner Friendly Spirits and their Sigils + Usage Guide

This is a comprehensive list of all the spirits I work with that wish to share their personal sigils with the public. These are all spirits that I have known for many years, as well as trust and respect deeply. They are some of the closest friends I could ever have, and they look forward to meeting you. Some of these may be familiar names, and others may not. I have spent a long time getting to know my spiritual team (dubbed the “Silver Monad” for fun mostly) over many lives and in many planes. They are guardians, mentors, and a valued support team in both magickal workings and through life's ups and downs. These sigils are not binding seals to command these spirits and enforce your will on them. All of the sigils here were hand-drawn and guided by each spirit through possession. Each sigil acts as a calling card of sorts, opening the door for the spirit to step through. If you wish to summon one, do so with respect and a clear intent. I will discuss methods of use and options for charging and activating the sigils, as well as discussed general guidelines for how to use the sigils for various purposes. This is designed to be incorporated into an already existing practice with spirit work, not as a tutorial on how to get into spirit work.
