How can we dress fashionably for cheap?
Are you a budgenista or a fashionista? I'm a fashionista turn bugdenista.
Hi, I'm Wendi Braswell, Style Expert. I'm here today to show you how to dress
well for cheap.
My favorite thing to talk about. Ladies, you do not have to spend full
price. Save your money and put it towards other things such as your family, a
vacation. I'm going to share some tips with you today.
First of all, you never want to pay retail. Wait for a sale. Check your
flyers in the Sunday paper. Stay up with promotions, sign up for emails. Second,
you're going to incorporate classic pieces for less. For instance, this is a
cardigan. Pretty much on trend, it's going to stay in style and a great color.
This was purchased at Dresslink which is a discount wholesale clothing store; but,
it's very, very trendy and in-style. This was $6.80. Crazy, right? Also, tank
tops in every single color. You can get them at Target, Walmart, all the
discount outlet places for less than $10. That's dressing well for cheap ladies.
Also, invest in a good pair, pair of black pants, but get them on sale. You
don't have to spend a lot. Wait for the sales. A tip I always tell my clients,
"You want to 'till the weekends; either shop Thursday through the weekend."
That's when all the promotion start. Save your money. Invest in the cheap items
for trends. Don't spend a lot on that for trends as well.
So, dress well for cheap ladies. It's fun and you have extra money to go on
a vacation. I'm Wendi Braswell.
Welcome to DigDeals for more great women't dresses.

3 COMMON WOMEN’S BODY SHAPES AND HOW TO DRESS FOR THEM
Women come in all shapes and sizes. There’s no point in denying it or trying to hide it. Instead, you should celebrate your shape with a flattering personal style.
But that’s easier said than done. Many women struggle to find outfits that accentuate their strengths and enhance their body shapes. This can become even more challenging for women over 60. If you’re body has gone through many changes – perhaps even changing the way your clothing fits or flatters – you’ve got a real challenge.
How can you know which styles work best with your body shape?
Your body shape is as unique as your personality. You are not cut from a mold, just another copy of a copy. Still, there are some general categories of body shape that most can identify with. Being aware of your body shape can help you shop for clothes that highlight your best qualities.
Consider three common women’s body shapes. They are the Apple (sometimes called the Inverted Triangle) shape, the Pear (or upright triangle) and the Hourglass.
The Apple
Women who fall into this category have wider shoulders and busts with a smaller waistline. You’ve probably heard people describe this shape as “top heavy.” But that unflattering description is not always true for women with the Apple body shape.
Do you fall into this category? Maybe you have a broader, but not as full bust. Knowing the difference and the particulars of your body is a big help when picking out the perfect tops and dresses for you.
For the Apple shape, the key is to bring focus to your waistline and create the illusion of a little more curve than you might have. Tops that have a soft V-neck and that cinch at the waist are great for this.
Wrap blouses also flatter women with a broader upper body. They relax over the chest and shoulders and fold down to encircle the waist and give more definition to your core.
For the Apple-shaped woman, bottoms are not too tricky. You can show off your legs with straight or flowing short skirts. Or you can go long with a nice maxi skirt or sweeping wrap dress.
Remember to factor in your height. Have a long torso and short legs? Be careful not to go too long with your skirts. That can create an unattractive baggy look. Bring the hemline up a bit and choose pants that have straight legs or hug your ankles.
The Pear
Pear-shaped ladies can bring the boldness upward. Since you have larger hips and a smaller bust, bright shirts and blouses enhance your style. Off the shoulder or wide V-neck tops will draw eyes to your slimmer arms and elegant neck.
This body type tends to hold weight in the hips, bottom, and thighs. So, select skirts and dresses with a slimming effect, like A-line skirts and dresses. They will disguise that bit of extra you have below the waist while giving you an alluring profile.
If you have height on your side, don’t be afraid to go long. Taller women with the Pear shape have the hips and thighs to give long, sweeping skirts something to flow over. It will give you the graceful and stylish look you’re searching for.
The Hourglass
The Hourglass body type is often desired for its even top and bottom distribution. But if you’re not careful to accent the middle correctly you can end up with a stuffy, boxy look.
A tailored fit is a good rule of thumb. Your clothes should not hide your figure – they should enhance it.
Avoid draping too many layers that cover your curves. Deep V-neck fitted shirts or button-down blouses with simple sleeves will give you the custom-fit your body shape craves.
On the bottom, spotlight your midsection. Choose bottoms that have a fitted waist and consider accessorizing with wide or skinny belts in fun, eye-catching colors.
Embrace and Enhance Your Body
Each body type has its positives. There’s no one perfect body or style. Embrace what you’ve got, maximizing your attributes with ensembles that give them the prominence they deserve.

7 HUGE FALL FASHION FOR WOMEN OVER 60 TRENDS
The fall fashion and colors are officially in retail stores and online. You will find a variety of styles and colors for the season.
Before you run and check out the new fashions, there are a couple of things you should know:
which colors look good on you so you don’t buy colors that make your skin tone look dull; your body shape and what styles look good on you.
If you don’t know these two things, you are likely to spend money on unnecessary items just because they look pretty, or the color looks good on someone else.
Try to seek out transitional pieces you can wear with things you already have and can layer. Fall is the time of year for layering clothes. Focus on adding dusters, vests, sweaters, pants, denim or knits to your wardrobe.
The colors for fall just happen to be my season palette, so I have many of the colors already in my closet. I will just add a few accessories to update my wardrobe.
To help you navigate the trends, here’s a forecast guide of the 7 biggest trends for the fall season.
Embroidery Makes a Comeback
Embroidery is everywhere for fall and winter. You will see this trend in floral design and on everything from handbags, jackets, jeans, blouses and shoes.
The trend isn’t for everybody, so choose your favorite item and coordinate it like crazy. Avoid looking like a walking embroidered flower.
Make sure whatever you wear flatters your body type and makes you feel super special.
I checked my closet and found an embroidered denim jacket that I haven’t worn in years. It’s still up-to-date and has embroidered pink roses on the back, and pink happens to be one of the fall colors this year.
I plan to match it with a pink tank top or sweater depending on the coolness of the weather. I’m thrilled that I have an up-to-date trend in this category already.
Velvet or Velour
Velvet and velour are big trends for the season. They are not the same, so make sure you know the difference.
Velvet is a woven cut-pile with no stretch; while velour is a knit strechy cut-pile fabric. You will see a lot of both this fall and winter. Tops, skirts and shoes are all going to be available in these soft and luxurious forms.
Be aware that velour and velvet have shiny and textured elements that will highlight every bump and curve you have, so be sure they work for your body type.
Ruffles
If you love ruffles, then you are in luck.
You’re going to continue to see them on blouses, sweaters, shoes, jackets and skirts. It’s a great style element, especially if your personal style is the feminine look.
The trick to wearing ruffles in a flattering way is on an item where you don’t mind more volume and attention. For instance, if you don’t love your neck area, then refrain from wearing a blouse that is open and has ruffles around the neck. Maybe choose a blouse with ¾-inch sleeves, which will be more appealing.
Power Red Color
Of course, red is big for fall, although you can wear it all year long. If this color is in your season palette, then you should have great items in your closet already.
For fall, it’s a bolder power red. If you wear it to work or a business meeting, make sure it’s presented as a “pop” of color and not as an all over color, since it may be too much.
You can wear a pair of slacks, jacket, skirt, coat and dress and match it with brown, pink, black or leopard.
If you can wear a red lipstick, this will also “pop” your outfit.
Red is the color that just makes you feel good. If red is one of your season colors, but you haven’t tried it before, this should be the season you try it. There are so many styles to choose from.
There are more colors for the fall that are absolutely beautiful, including Mustard, Mahogany, Pink, Chocolate Brown, Marine Blue and Olive Green. Pick a color that looks great on your complexion and add simple pieces to your wardrobe.
Vintage
Vintage style was really big in the 90s, and it’s made a comeback this year.
If your personal style is feminine or Bohemian, you will love the vintage looks this year. The vintage style incorporates elaborate patterns and rich textiles like velvet, florals, plaids, ruffles, embroidery and lace. Retro hats are in vogue, including any cloche (close fitting bell-shape) or beret.
Clothing with Victorian collars, especially a high neckline with lace, can be so romantic and beautiful. Vintage inspired fur coats or vests are fun as well.
Plaid has returned with bright and bold colors on everything from coats, skirts, dresses, blouses and shoes.
Gray Booties
Gray is a fresh neutral that would be a great investment for your wardrobe. Gray or “greige” (gray and beige) are neutrals that can be worn with blacks and browns, making them more versatile.
If you are in the market for a pair of gray booties, or planning to purchase another pair, make sure you find the right fit, and that they are comfortable. Invest in shoes that love you back. Designers are more aware that we are looking for both style and comfort and they are making it possible.
Brocade
Brocade is a pattern that has raised measures of fabric giving it texture. It’s often made of gold and black thread or done in a floral pattern. The only thing about brocade is that it’s often elegant and opulent, but isn’t always appropriate for wet falls and winters.
Make sure to treat your brocade pieces with care and consideration, and store them appropriately. The trend can make a strong statement, so be sure to pair it with simple basic pieces and jewelry. This way it can stand alone and tell a story.
Overall, you should find some nice, unique and detailed autumn pieces. Although, you may have a hard time deciding between a “need” and a “want” since the fashion is a hit this season.
Are there any new trends that you will try wearing for the fall? Do you have clothing in your closet that is up-to-date and in style? Will you try a new fall color this season that you haven’t worn before? Please share your thoughts below!

5 WAYS TO DRESS LIKE YOU MEAN BUSINESS, WHILE STAYING STYLISH AFTER 50
We all have our favorite clothes for a night out with friends or just bumming around the house. But when you want to make a good impression at work, there’s more at stake than just what you like.
At 40+ and curvy to boot, that can be a daunting challenge.
You want to show everyone that you mean business. But at the same time, you shouldn’t have to compromise your own comfort just to be taken seriously at the workplace.
Of course, you need to look professional beyond the office environment, like when you have a critical business meeting. Or when you attend a conference. How can you pull off a classy, professional look that feels great and looks even better?
Let’s go from head to toe with ideas for putting together the perfect outfit.
Start at the Top
Let’s say you would like to draw attention away from some weight on the bottom. Choose a top that draws the eye to your neck and arms with a lighter-colored, flared sleeve.
Use a classic button-down top, leaving the first few buttons open to create a flattering vertical line. For comfort, opt for a top that has a little stretch and comfortable sleeves that aren’t too tight or restricting.
Cooler weather? Add an easy layer that keeps you warm while also enhancing your style. A nice tailored jacket with a crisp V-neck works well. It will give you that professional edge that shows others you are in charge – but still makes you stand out as stylish.
Smarty Pants
When it comes to trousers, remember one essential rule: stretch is your friend.
We are past the days of restrictively tight or shapelessly large pants! Go for a little stretch that skims over your curves, showing off your figure while staying comfy all day long.
If you’re a bit more self-conscious about your legs, go with a neutral or darker color. It will go well with that light-colored, flared sleeve top.
Never underestimate the value of a crisp, clean press on those trousers. The polished look tells everyone that you give attention to detail and should be taken seriously.
Stylish Skirting
When choosing a skirt for a professional setting, make fit and comfort the priority. Forget the number on the tag, and focus on what looks best for your body type.
Beware of heavy fabrics or pleated styles that add volume. Instead, go with a flowing style that stays cool, comfortable and stylish. For example, a handkerchief hem skirtcreates a beautiful flowing effect that also lengthens and enhances your figure.
Accessorize Your Look
Who doesn’t like to add a little something to their look?
Curvy ladies – it’s time to embrace chunky jewelry. Tiny earrings and thin, short necklaces are not usually your best bet. Go with a longer, larger necklace to accentuate your style and elongate your figure. It might seem a bit bold, but you’ll look amazing and command everyone’s attention.
Remember, anything that shines is going to naturally draw attention. So use your accessories to draw attention to your strong points and distract the eye from other areas.
You can do the same with scarves. Choose a simple, neutral colored scarf to bring balance to your outfit. Or step out with a textured, printed scarf to create a focal point. Depending on how you tie and wear your scarf, you can ensure it draws attention to your best features.
Get Off on the Right Foot
How would you describe your professional footwear? Painful? Constricting? Uncomfortable?
It doesn’t have to be. But that doesn’t mean you have to settle for dull loafers either. Again, comfort is the key.
A shoe with a thicker, heavier heel will give you the support you need. If you’re going to be on your feet during the day, make sure your footwear will keep you comfortable. Don’t choose a shoe that looks great at the start of the day but leaves you crying in pain by the end.
Sometimes, no matter how careful you are, your feet will hurt after a long day. If you spend a lot of time at the office, keep a comfortable pair of flats at your desk. You’ll be ready for the boardroom with the fancy heels you walked in on, but you can endure the day with your comfortable desk shoes.
Always Dress to Impress
Looking to make a good impression with a new client or business partner? Get the professional edge by upping your style game.
Always dress to impress. But don’t push comfort aside. If you feel good in your clothes, you will have the confidence you need to stay successful. Now go out there and show them who’s boss!
If you want to try some of our plus size clothes, we are offering a 10% discount for our Sixty and Me sisters in our Etsy Shop.
Do you love to dress up and look your best? Do you have a favorite item of clothing that fills you with confidence? Please tell us more about your stylish choices below!

IT’S TIME TO DRESS FEARLESSLY AND THROW OUT THE PLUS SIZE STYLE RULE BOOK
If you let this type of fear take over, it will dictate your every fashion decision. Don’t let it! Here’s how to break away from the stereotypes so often imposed on mature plus size women.
Change Your Perspective
There’s a tide of change pushing aside the so-called ‘style rules’ that women used to let control their sense of style. Many plus size women have heard these before:
“Prints and stripes are risky. Stay with black, it’s safe and slimming. Bright colors are a no-no, go with darker shades.
The same goes for ‘age appropriate’ clothing – it just winds up being restricting, restraining your ability to express yourself naturally with your outfits. These rules take away the fun of fashion.
Break the rules of what is typical, safe or appropriate for your age and size. Instead, dress appropriately for your personality, your style preferences and the occasion.
Break the Rules: Color and Print
Choose prints that enhance your body shape. For some women that means large, abstract patterns – such as tie dye and batik. These keep the eye moving and distract attention from problematic areas.
How many times have you been told you shouldn’t wear? Ignore that nonsense. Just make them work with your body. A neat pinstripe can add an air of elegance. And stripes, both horizontal and vertical, can create a super cute look.
Remember, too, that not all stripes are made the same. Thin, thick and shifted stripes on your outfit each create a unique, refreshing look. Try a wide diagonal striped top with an abstract pattern for an eye-catching effect that complements your figure.
As for color, don’t stick to all black and neutrals. Experiment with different colors and tones that work with your skin complexion and fit your personality. Remember – there are no rules!
Break the Rules: Fit
Body and age shaming comments tell you to hide away your curves and weight. They’re made out to be bad things you should be ashamed of. Terrible.
Shatter those rules by embracing your mature, curvy physique. For some women, this means wearing body contouring dresses that dramatically highlight their curves. If that’s not your preference, go with a more conservative look that still gives you a natural feminine shape.
The point is to not be forced into large, shapeless clothing. Here are some ways to embrace modern fits and not be controlled by body or age shaming:
Try slim-cut jeans in a heavy denim with a little stretch. You’ll get a smooth, updated look that’s also super comfortable.
A flowing skirt in a vibrant color with a cute blouse makes for a beautiful, casual outfit.
Sleeveless dresses and open-shoulder tops are perfect as the weather gets warmer. Go with what makes you comfortable and confident.
Fearless, Fabulous Fashion
Get rid of the fashion fear factor! Embrace a mature, modern approach to style that throws out the rules of yesterday. Instead, discover your own rules of fashion. Take back control of your style.
Remember, your clothing is an outward expression of your inner self. Stand tall and let everyone know you have nothing to fear. Your attitude will triumph over any stranger’s petty glance of disapproval.
If you want to try some of our plus size clothes, we are offering a 10% discount for our Sixty and Me sisters in our Etsy Shop.
If you are plus size woman, how do you dress to feel confident? What are your favorite ways to wear clothes that express your true personality? Please share some tips you may have for the women in our community.
