remember when you were 10 and you would hang out with your friends in order to Look At The Computer together like you went to their house and experienced the information superhighway together. and then leave
#I remember PRE INTERNET TIMES#going over to my neighbor’s house playing black and white Oregon trail#and her brother making a bunch of voice recordings we’d play back#and one of them was cappuccino#said really fast#and we listened to it probably 500 times#thanks for the laughs Stephen nojima#I almost forgive you for running me down on my bike playing cops and robbers and I broke my arm

Another perk of libraries is that when I check out an audiobook and predictably fail to listen to it, it gets returned and I can rest easy knowing that checking it out at all has already benefited my local library. I can even do it again later and it will only bring further good things, for free, forever
VS buying an audiobook, failing to listen to it, and having to stare at it in my audible collection knowing I spent $10 on something I never used. And then imagine doing that again. Hellish. Get a library card and download the libby app
#recently got into Libby again#love it!#but I wish all of my holds wouldn’t come in at the same time lol

“The party from Uppercross passing down by the now deserted and melancholy looking rooms, and still descending, soon found themselves on the sea-shore; and lingering only, as all must linger and gaze on a first return to the sea, who ever deserve to look on it at all …”

Just finished watching Persuasion (95) and I'm reading the book right now (I knooow, wrong order) and man where was this movie all my life?? I've seen prtty much every Austen adaptation and read all the books (exc Persuasion for some reason) and have to say, though I haven't finished the book yet, it's the best adaptation so far of any Austen book. Like, I love BBCs Emma, and yeah I'm fond of PP05 because it got me into Austen, but Persuasion man. Also thank you for giffing this movie
I KNOW RIGHT?? I think the reason why people would miss Persuasion when getting into Austen is because it’s her most mature novel, to a point where it feels like a whole other person is writing it (i don’t mean style wise, but the subject matter and tonally it is very different from most of her other pieces), and this translates to the 95 adaptation to. It just feels so intimate while giving us Romance with a capital R the only way Jane Austen can. I LOVE IT! I’m glad that for the past few months I have been able to get people to watch this gem of an adaptation. I wouldn’t mind a new adaptation, sure, but to be honest I’m completely satisfied with the 95 version. Now, if only they can do a criterion remaster... 😏
#jane austen#persuasion#95 adaptation has EVERYTHING#dreamy Wentworth#loyalty to the source material#marination in the vibes#bad teeth#Mary being The Worst#shot completely with natural lighting!#a circus at the end#and the best interpretation of The Letter ever#lives permanently on my computer and I bought it on Amazon so it’s awkward at hand#sometimes you just need Elizabeth screaming SHE IS A VISCOUNTESS#in your life#recently got stoned while watching it and I highly recommend that too
