James Gunn has proven that he fundamentally understands Kal-El as a character. This man has read the comics and it SHOWS.

Yes of course I'm thrilled about the details of the Clark versus Superman voice/posture change and the Smallville-esque bedroom. But I'm most thrilled about the story being told because it goes to the root of Superman's character.

The world will always force action to be political.

You stopped a war? Who did you do that for?

You saved a life? Well what kind of person's life?

But Superman doesn't care about the world that cares about borders. He is an alien who cares about humanity. It tracks for him to be distressed over the concept that anyone could ever question the morality of goodness and justice.

It also tracks for Lois Lane to ask the hard-hitting questions because she knows how the world works. Clark tries to be everything he wants to see in the world. Lois is presenting how the world actually works. This fascinating dichotomy making its way to screen is vital to our world and to the story of Superman.

Hope matters. It always has. It just matters more in the hands of someone who has the power to do something about it.

My hopes are high. In this world we need a Superman representative of hope and this might be it.

Honestly even if you don't look at batcat (which has always been THE Bruce ship) Bruce still had more chances of settling down with Silver st Cloud than Talia. I honestly don't know why brutalia stans have such a fixation on Selina, it's not like she's the only competition (personally I find the whole ship war stupid to begin with because I don't think that DC is ever going to let Bruce settle down at this point, which is something than even Talia and Selina themselves acknowledged pre-crisis, but anyway)

At the end of the day, Bruce and Selina are each other’s happy ending. But the comics can’t end. So the characters can’t move forward :/

At least until Dc and Marvel stop being so anti marriage even at the cost of their own success.

And they’re fixated on Selina exactly because she’s the endgame love interest. They would rather Bruce actually be the playboy he hates portraying as long as he also hooks up with Talia every once in a blue moon.

Whenever I see someone comment on fanart of Nightwing where his skin tone is darker, and they praise the 'return of his melanin', I wanna go...

...have you SEEN Dick?!

And the 'reasoning' of his Romani heritage meaning he has to be dark-skinned isn't the flex they think it is.

Romani is an Ethnic Group... not a race. And they have members who look all different types of ways. Darker skin. Lighter skin... etc.

Y'all get so hung up on the 'Indian Sub-Continent' part that you forget that it was many centuries ago, and they spread throughout the world, intermarrying as they went.

There are Romani clans in England and places in Europe who are pale AF. And yes, some have darker skin.

Besides, Dick is also of English and Western European heritage, so that plays a role as well.

And FTR, people who have Middle Eastern heritage aren't all necessarily brown either. Again, a variety of skin tones. Looking at you, Damian stans.

And yeah, people are gonna HC whatever they want. Fine. Just don't try and say it should be canon instead. Or '_____ coded' and all that.
