🪩 HERMITCRAFT / LIFE SERIES party hats! 🎀

I made hc/lifeseries party hats for my friends earlier this year for my birthday party! and then never showed these haha

very spontaneous hard project, designing all of the characters and looong paper cutting, but the result was worth it. everyone took their hats home after :D

the bright dots on the night sky of past life and evo aren't stars. they're other worlds. old worlds don't have as much protection as the new ones -- they're raw patches of code, the universe's firstborns. everything inside them is exciting and naive and simple. there are no civilizations and colonies, no conquerors and conquered yet -- only oases of life generated in the endless nothingness. there's nothing to mask for and defend yourself from, because life and pleasure are the purpose. the Great Void is not an ocean yet but a cradle, welcoming as mother's embrace.

that's why you see the other worlds at night way better.

and also why the watchers see you better, too.

one of the things i really like about cc!mumbo is that his gestures are incredibly soft and gentle. you can pick literally any video where he sits in front of the camera and you'll see that he never uses his energy and power in body language, especially in hand movements. he climbs mountains and lifts tens of kilos of filming equipment with his bare hands, he was into heavy lifting in his early 20s, and after all, he's almost exaclty 2m long x 1m wide incredibly strong dude. but he never exacly clenches his fists, he only bends the fingers, he never claps loudly, he never grips onto anything. he's such a gentle giant it makes my heart melt

you created an oc based on danny de vito in early 2010s and you named him pookie. he exists in a universe that is different from real world in every possible way, and you've spent all these years writing hundreds of stories and drawing thousands of artworks with pookie. pookie's biography, worldbuilding, design and mannerisms have almost a decade worth of development at this point, and it is nothing like it was in 2010s. you can rarely feel danny de vito's influence, but only in insignificant filler drabble fics that only your friends read. pookie doesn't even resemble danny de vito visually at this point. one day, you draw a self-indulgent work with pookie's romantic interest, cookie.

your post breaks containment. people tag your work with #dannydevito. people ask you if you really think danny de vito and cookie are together. people say that you harm danny de vito's reputation by making it seem like he is leaving his wife for cookie. you tell them that it's just your oc, and it only makes people angrier. people anonymously confess their hate about you shamelessly separating pookie and his creator, danny de vito. people say that danny de vito and pookie are one person, and making content about either of them has the same effect as inserting pins in danny de vito's voodoo doll. this way you discover that some people can't comprehend the conseptual difference between a 6''5 tall, blond, somewhat feminine pookie and danny de vito. this post is NOT about mcyt communities btw

people get c!mumbo so wrong. on a basic level. he doesn't talk like that. he doesn't say "it's really quite simple" every 2 sentences. he haven't been calling himself or anybody a spoon for six+ years. he doesn't sound like an english grandpa or heimerdinger for fuck's sake. he's awkward and clumsy at times but he is also very smart and physically strong. the fact that he's bad with hints or emotions doesn't mean he completely lacks basic intuition or emotional intelligence. the fact that he's easily flustered with compliments doesn't mean he will jump on every person that says something flattering about him. the fact that he's a tech nerd doesn't make him clueless about love or human nature. the same way as it would work with these assumptions if they were about you. stop hopping onto every hackneyed joke you know about him and stop. thinking. in. extremes. and. stereotypes. please

i don't mind the "grian crash-lands on hermitcraft while fleeing from the watchers" trope, but its dominance in fanon completely dismisses the fact that grian was chosen by the hermits and chose to be there in return. if my memory serves me correctly, he was invited several times, which means he was voted for by all hermits at least twice, if not more; which means he was a long-awaited guest. and grian was only ready for a radical change like this when one day his old life became less promising than a sealed envelope in mumbo's hands.

the hermits would help a stich-like alien in any possible scenario. it's the part of their culture, their social expectations, their morals, their characters. but it wouldn't be their will. and if the watchers eventually came for him, both grian and the hermits would have no agency in the disaster that just happened to fall on their heads.

now, compare it to the world where grian chose to be a watcher. where grian chose to never tell anyone about what happened. where the hermits chose grian, and where grian chose them. and where several years later, grian chose to create the death games -- but didn't know what he'd done. the world where the watchers fooled grian and took their souls.

imagine the big reveal. the hermits discover what happened. will they blame grian? will they blame themselves for letting it happen? or will they blame themselves for letting grian in?

what hurts more -- an accident or a deception? a god's will or thirty pieces of silver?

i reject blood bonds in minecraft because i'm a code-based life enthusiast, but you may know that i like to consider "minecraft" a sort of religious teaching in the in-game universe (here's my previous post about this), which makes the end poem a some kind of universal religious text.

and the poem reads:

The atoms of the player were scattered in the grass, in the rivers, in the air, in the ground. A woman gathered the atoms; she drank and ate and inhaled; and the woman assembled the player, in her body. And the player awoke, from the warm, dark world of its mother’s body, into the long dream. You are the player. The story. The program. The human. Made from nothing but milk and love.

and i can't stop thinking about what a great point it can be for minecraft characters. all of them were born alone, in a singleplayer world. none of them have ever seen their mother. they had to survive and learn and grow all by themselves. but they all believe in different things.

some of them wouldn't care about the poem at all, considering it outdated and irrelevant. some of them has never read it, has never even heard of it.

some of them would believe this is fiction that exists to comfort lonely souls and give meanings to their lives. because there's a chance you'll spend your etenrity in a singleplayer world, never connecting to another soul.

some of them would believe they actually have a mother. some would try to find her across the world and the universe. some would even believe they've found her. some would lie to others that they have. some would imagine what she's like. for some this image would be comforting, as it would be discomforting for others. some would blame her for bringing them into the universe. some would talk to her in an internal monologue. some would believe this myth but slowly grow out of their attachment. and some would see parental figures in the souls they've found along the way.

some would think that the great void is their mother, and, i think, those would be the only ones who are right.
