I design, take pictures and shitpost. My fixation right now is She-Ra because it's good and gay. I like to analyze characters. 27. She/her. Stan Catra.

gifted kid burnout things that no one seems to talk about:
the raw panic of hearing about your potential, positive or negative
a weird brand of imposter syndrome where you genuinely think you’ve fluked your way through every success and you’re gonna be Exposed as a Fraud
never having learned how to study and having no idea where to start now that you need to
reading college level books as a kid but being basically illiterate now
dismissing your struggles as irrelevant because other people have it harder and i should be smart enough to handle this
feeling like you’ve lost all control over your life (maybe manifesting into depression, anxiety and disordered eating in a grasp for control over something)
being unable to decide on a career path because you could have had everything, only to watch those opportunities disappear as you fail to commit

I feel like people are way too serious with cartoon characters' arcs, especially redemption arcs.
Let's not forget that She Ra is a cartoon primarily aimed at little kids and older kids. The purpose of the protagonists and antagonists is to appeal to them, to talk to them. Villains like Catra are supposed to make them relate to her and send them a message. It's not about realism, it's about relatability.
Are these kids likely to take over a military complex kidnapping kids to make them foot soldiers and oppress the locals? Well, no, obviously. But these kids might lash out at their best friend after feeling left out. These kids might be bullied and bully other people in return. These kids might isolate themselves to never feel vulnerable again.
And that's where Catra's redemption is valid and important. Because Catra's redemption isn't about her war crimes, it's about her interpersonal relationships, mostly with Adora. Thanks to Catra, these kids who might fuck up will be reminded that they are not lost cause. That they can make amends, they can apologize, they can change. They might even be forgiven.
Stop putting your adult morality range in a cartoon meant to show kindness, forgiveness and vulnerability to kids. You're missing the point of this story.
