blazing sun, blue skies, coupled with the sounds of people laughing – it’s that time of the year again! summer!

once again, it’s time to enjoy a refreshing weekend filled with music and fun at this year’s waterbomb festival! promising high-energy performances, water fights, photozones and of course, the signature waterbomb performances!

the 2025 seoul edition will be held from august 2 to august 4 at the kintex outdoor global stage in the seoul metropolitan area. with a star-studded lineup, attendants can expect days of fun and excitement!

those attending waterbomb are able to purchase water guns and interact with the many booths available! there are food booths available, photo zones, game zone and official merch stands! attendants of the legal drinking age can also find beer stands - but remember to provide your id when buying a can!

— CHEER UP TRAINING: AUDITION RESULTS !

once the auditions are done, nothing is heard for the next few weeks as the panelists and executives of axis labels gather around to view each and every audition tape. they take into account feedback they’ve received from coaches regarding each trainee’s attitude and progress and have come to a final decision.

the following trainees are asked to gather in an interview room at the AXIS LABELS BUILDING on WEDNESDAY, 25TH JUNE.

seated around a long oval table, are a few executives, a producer and team from SBS TV, SEO RAN and the director of axis labels, KIM JAEKYUNG, herself. from the group alone, it’s rather obvious that something serious is to be discussed. each trainee is ushered to a seat.

“as you all know, axis labels is planning to expand ourselves beyond music, and we’re partaking in producing dramas now,” jaekyung begins. “after careful discussion, we’ve decided to partner with SBS on this wonderful new journey. this is something we have spent months planning, and have put a lot of time and effort into. the last remaining piece of the puzzle was getting talented actors to put on the screen - the face of axis label’s first drama.”

there’s a pause to let everything sink in. “we have watched your auditions and consulted with your coaches and ceos. the eight of you have been handpicked to star in our first drama.” the coaches and a few staff members clap.

“i’ll let the drama production team handle the explanations, but this will be a long project, one that requires your dedication and focus. we won’t allow for any mishaps or mistakes.”

the producer stands up next, and bows to introduce himself. “nice to meet you all. i am SHIN YUNHO, the producer. it’s a pleasure to meet all of you.” introductions are made amongst the team, before yunho continues. “as jaekhyun said, we’ve gone through all your auditions, and have decided to hand pick the eight of you for this drama,” he turns on the projector, and a powerpoint slide is flashed on the screen. “let me give you a brief introduction on the drama.”

the drama that the trainees will be starring in is CHEER UP. 

SYNOPSIS: the drama follows DO HAEYI, a student at yonhee university. she is a bright and diligent person. though because of her family's poor financial situation, she places a priority on making money rather than school. one day, do haeyi suddenly joins cheering squad Theia. she only joins the club for money. the cheering squad has existed for 50 years at yeonhee university. while participating in the cheering squad, do haeyi experiences the joy of campus life and meets various people from Theia including PARK JUNGWOO, JIN SUNHO, TAE CHOHEE, JOO SUNJA and BAE YOUNGWOONG. 

cheer up is a mystery campus romance set in the backdrop of a cheering squad where worry is useless in the moment, but splendid and precious romance is.

yunho continues to explain the drama and the setting. going into great detail the plans that the production team has, and a brief summary of each character.

“we have already decided on your roles, and ask that you try your best to study and learn your character before our first filming commences.”

“we have about a month before we start filming. before then, there are those of you that definitely need EXTRA TRAINING before we can get you on camera,” this time, it’s jaekyung’s turn to speak. she passes a folder to a training coach and continues, “for the next month, you will be given extra training for the areas that you lack. not just that, but this drama is all about TEAMWORK. and i want you all to get along and show the bond of a team. to do that, we’ll have you all train together from axis labels during the duration of the month as well. so attend your extra training diligently, and get ready to start shooting by august. don’t disappoint me.”

with that you are ushered out of the meeting room, and pulled to another training room for further discussions with your coaches. 

“you all heard jaekyung, right?” a coach says, “from now on, it’s all or nothing for the drama. it’ll be a very busy time for all of you. we start shooting in august, so the preparations are being made as we speak. let’s all work our hardest, okay?”

all your numbers are given to the coach as he starts a “CHEER UP” drama groupchat with the eight of you, and a company representative from each company for ease of communication. “we’ll be communicating through your company representatives and through this groupchat as well. any schedules, photoshoots, and what not, will be sent through here. and if you have any questions, feel free to shoot us a message as well. and oh, of course, while filming, feel free to send any photos that you like! we’ll be together for a while.”

congratulations on being chosen for the drama! as this is axis label’s first drama, a lot of thought and preparations are currently being made by the company ic to ensure that this is a success. each company will have a COMPANY REPRESENTATIVE that will handle the communication between trainees and the production team.

the drama chosen is ‘cheer up’, a 16-episode drama originally aired by sbs in 2022. if you would like to know more about the drama you may read the synopsis here. similarly, the drama that the trainees will be filming will be 16-episodes as well.

trainees chosen for the drama are PROHIBITED from posting anything on social media regarding shooting until after the drama is officially announced to the public.

as stated, filming will officially begin in august. before that, trainees are expected to brush up on some skills that are deemed important for the drama. to do so, the company has spent resources on giving the trainees extra training on selected areas. certain trainees will be asked to focus on two areas. as of now, the trainees are also expected to train exclusively at the AXIS LABELS BUILDING. please find below the skills that each trainee will be focusing on for the month (4-week period):

It starts out as rumours at first. A large building in Seongsu is suddenly covered up with scaffolding, and the words "AXIS LABEL CAFE" are bright and clear at the top. It isn’t until news articles begin to make waves, are the rumours confirmed. Axis Labels has decided to open up a POP-UP CAFE in SEONGSU - the trendiest neighbourhood in Seoul.

Axis Labels has rented out a building in Seongsu, and will be holding a grand opening celebration on 26TH MAY! It is a multi-storey cafe, with a small stage for performances on the first floor, along with some drinks, and a larger variety of pastries on the second along with pastries named after each member of an Axis Label boy group! On the third floor, a rooftop garden is set up to enjoy the view, and the nice spring-like weather!

This isn’t your typical community talent show, where the prize is simply a certificate or trophy. No! Axis Labels have announced that the winners of this talent show, stand a chance to have a PRIVATE AUDITION with one of their subsidiary labels (Studio Delta, SR Media and Lime Entertainment)! Netizens speculate that this community talent show is a ruse to garner more trainees in the ever-growing label.

seollal (설날), or korean lunar new year (음력 설날) is a holiday and celebration which marks the first day of the korean lunar calendar. it is the most celebrated traditional holiday in korea, and will be celebrated from 27th - 30th january this year, with seollal falling on 29th january. families would traditionally gather from different parts of both korea and the world to celebrate and partake in ancient rituals and celebrate their elders while making wishes for the new year to come. 

the most common practices during seollal include getting pocket money from your elders after bowing to them and wishing them a new year, paying respects to your ancestors, wearing colorful hanbok, playing yutnori or other traditional folk games, and of course feasting with tteokguk (rice cake soup), jeon (savory pancakes) and other common dishes. it’s a time to celebrate, after all!

some of the most common traditions during this time of the year include: bowing and offering the elders new year wishes and receiving pocket money from them, paying respects to ancestors, wearing colorful hanbok, playing a variety of traditional games including yutnori, and enjoying a feast with delicious food! 

as a reminder, trainees have no mandatory classes scheduled during national holidays (seollal day), though the buildings will remain open for anyone who wishes to practice independently. there is no penalty for returning home to visit family at that time.
