The whole drama with Cates seems ridiculous imo

From my understanding anyways. Like whats the point of getting so up in arms just because his run isnt what you want? Like i get hes being a major dick and immature about things, which he is and deserves back lash from that. But the way i see it is every writer or whatever hired for a run… its like their own universe where they can do and fuck things up as they want or vise versa. when their run is over another person can come in and either play off it or go their own route. Maybe im wrong? I am sad about the way Cates is portraying the Venom symbiote but his run isnt even over yet, we cant judge it in its entirey.

And everyone whos spamming they want gay aliens and ‘if there isnt any gay then fuck you’, imo needs to chill tf out. Im a huge fan of eddie and venoms relationship, i love symbrock but Cates run isnt the end. Chill out and let him do what hes wants and if people dont like it then the run can die. Maybe im wrong about this. Theres a lot i dont agree with him with but this is too much.

Feel free to discuss if you want, maybe you can explain what the point of the arguments is more then im understanding it to be?

the symbiote’s a woobie in-universe but out of universe the way it keeps being mistreated is just… cartoonishly exaggerated. it’s unbelievable. it makes you want to love it just out of spite.

the symbiote can literally die for the man it loves so he can save the world unharmed and the actual writer who actually wrote that will still look down at the remains and poke them with a stick and go “SHITTY little goo. liquid black MALICE. that was ABUSIVE.” how does this keep happening.

it’s like everybody sorta knows that it’s a person in bad circumstances with a mind that isn’t easily and fully understood by humans but also everybody is just too intent on projecting their personal demons onto it. everybody keeps going against its originally displayed behaviour in favour of arguing that it by its very nature simply cannot be good or worth as much as a human. joke’s on them that just makes it more relatable

Honestly most of my dislike toward Donny Cates isn’t even because of the possibly shitty direction he’s taking the Venom series, but simply the way he acts about it. He’s literally every smug, entitled white boy who thinks everything he shits out is gold and goes out of his way to ridicule fans who disagree with his interpretation. He’s unnecessarily rude and the way he dismisses and blocks valid criticism is the sign of a fragile ego that can’t stand to be proved wrong. He thinks he’s the shit because he got popular from writing, and the way he carries himself just reeks of self-absorbed asshole and I can’t stand him. I don’t care what he does in his stupid run at this point, I’ve transcended from hating his bad writing and now I just genuinely dislike him as a whole entire person.
