Big 3
Well, yesterday was my 3-year anniversary of my hiring at my current job. It's on par with my usual stay within a company/org and as is past precedent, I'm still awaiting any chance at all to get some advancement (aside from a slightly-delayed, contractual title change and teeny-tiny wage increase last fall.)
Since I'm functionally "locked in" to working for the State (for benefit reasons mostly, but job security secondarily), I spend my Fridays scouring the branches for reasonable opportunities to put in for and then be subject to the limbo that is modern hiring in our "post"-Covid world.
Even though I have my gripes about my workplace (mostly with the people, not so much the work itself, tbh), it has still been the best job experience I have had thus far in my short tenure on this blue marble. I feel that I have finally found a niche for myself that plays to my strengths and actually allows me to have the potential to work on my weaker points.
Tl;dr work sucks (I know) but it could be worse for me at the moment.

Realized that I never actually included the link for this in the original post b/c I am a doofus
Leaving this looping nigh-silently on my work PC each day I am in the office (can't WFH) to give me the smallest measure of joy in the world of bureaucratic drudgery

Happy International Workers/Labo(u)r Day!
Today of all days, remember that your shitty boss can't do it all without you fine folks doing the actual work.

Also, rediscovering/diving back into the larger world of pro wrestling (big leagues and the Indies alike) has given me another hobby to kill time with at the office.
I think that this time (my 1st go-around taking place during the middle to end of the Attitude Era), I am appreciating the sport of it more so than just the theatrics. And with the advent of so many fan/community pages/channels, it's easier to go back and see things that I always wanted to learn about.
As I type this out, I am side-by-siding videos from Purowave, so I'll give them some "free press" as a creator that I appreciate.
#pro wrestling#probably already made this post at some point in the last few years but oh well#Purowave#PUROWAVE ICHIBAN

@drchucktingle since this is (in my approximation) an accurate piece of Tingleverse lore
I know this isn’t really a linguistics blog anymore, but what do you call the “funny bone” (nerve by your elbow that tingles when you bump it) in Czech?
we call it "brňavka", which means
uh
"tingler" I guess

Leaving this on while I do my office drudgery, because this was a foundational comedic influence on me.

I find it hard to believe that in the year of someone's Lord 2024 that almost 30k people PAY ACTUAL MONEY to be ad-free in this scrolling hellscape.
Then again, the world is a big ol' trashboat anyway so I guess it isn't' that hard to fathom.

Honestly, one of life's great joys in this modern era of collapse is remembering a song or video you haven't enjoyed in a long while, and then listening to it on repeat for the whole time you get ready in the morning. See below:
