In honor of my former and present students, I wrote a blog about my teaching journey - when students need more than vocal instruction. Have you ever had a student who worked incredibly hard but couldn't seem to break through certain barriers? A student who suddenly "lost" the ability to hear certain pitches? Or one who appeared compliant and engaged but wasn't actually making progress? Discovering Polyvagal theory was a game-changer in my teaching. It helped me understand that some of our most dedicated students aren't struggling with talent or technique - they're dealing with nervous system dysregulation that affects everything from auditory processing to physical coordination. This blog shares my journey from traditional vocal pedagogy to a nervous system-informed approach. If you're a voice teacher who feels that traditional approaches aren't enough for some of your students, this might offer new insights and practical tools.

Did you know that "inspiration" literally means "to breathe in"? Just as life begins with breath, so does voice. Every sound we make starts with the simple, sacred act of taking a breath. My journey with Appoggio began when Metropolitan Opera conductor Steven Crawford asked me about "Appoggio"—a question I couldn't answer at the time. That moment of curiosity sparked years of research and discovery that shaped my entire approach to vocal technique. In my latest post, I explore how this profound connection reveals why breath training for singers goes far beyond technique—it's about creation, intention, connection, and expression. #SingingTechnique #BreathWork #VocalTraining #Inspiration #VoiceCoaching #SingingTips

Think You Can't Sing? Your Brain Doesn't Care! 🎵 Singing is the SAFEST way to boost your brain function! 🧠 When you sing or hum, you're stimulating the vestibular system in your inner ear - the same system responsible for balance and movement coordination. The result? Enhanced neuroplasticity and cognitive benefits without the risks of other vestibular therapies! Check out my latest post to discover what actually happens in your brain when you sing or hum. #BrainHealth #SingingBenefits #Neuroplasticity #VestibularSystem
