The Sleepers from CS1 and CS2 are different types of Sleepers

In CS1, the protagonist Sleeper was capable of doing all types of work. Endurance, Intuit, Engineer, Interface, and Engage. Sure, they were better at some than others, but they were able to do all of them all the same, regardless of their class.

In CS2, the protagonist Sleeper is much more handicapped. Their skills are tied to their class much more precisely. Ensuring that an Operator will never be able to do Endurance tasks, a Mechanist will never be able to do Engage tasks, and an Extractor will never be able to do Interface tasks.

I believe that, regardless of the botched reboot at the start of CS2, this is by design from Essen-Arp, parent company and copyright holder of Sleepers.

The Sleeper from CS1 is an older model. More versatile. Less dependent on outside factors. We'll call them Mk. I

The Sleeper from CS2 is a newer model, Mk. II. Purposefully handicapped by Essen-Arp engineers to ensure that they can never be fully self-sufficient, and less capable of striking out on their own. Mk. II Operators would never have a reason to do Endurance tasks while working for Essen-Arp. Same as the other Sleeper classes.

so while waiting for the new game i got inspired to pick up my old save of fantasy life and power level my way through all the remaining Lives and while working my way through Alchemist i thought it would be cool to have an in-universe handbook describing all the plants and ingredients and stuff (because i kept forgetting how to obtain a bunch of them and had to use the wiki)

so here's the first page from The Alchemist's Almanac

i might make it a full in-universe guide on the Alchemist life if i ever find the motivation, and if that goes well then maybe i'll make one for all the other Lives too
