I am gently taking your hands and begging you, BEGGING YOU, to understand that humans are not inherently harmful to the planet. We are animals who are part of the ecosystem. We belong here. This is our home. We belong here. You belong here. Yes, you belong here.

Guys, it got so much freaking worse. KOSA is bad, but SCREEN is even worse, somehow.
"Sen. Mike Lee has introduced the SCREEN ACT, a bill that applies the "harmful to minors" standard used to ban LGBTQ+ books and resources in schools and libraries and apply it nationally to the internet.
Any site that has any amount of material "harmful to minors" would be forced to employ surveillance tech (biometric scans, ID uploads, background checks) to prevent minors from accessing "pornography."
You will not be surprised to learn that this is backed by the Heritage Foundation.
Unlike some of the state age-verification laws, many of which are being challenged in court, SC will be enforced by the FTC, which has the ability to levy fines, raid business and freeze bank accounts. Yes, meaning that even non-for-profits like Ao3 will suffer.
This is something for all US users to keep on their radar. Call your reps, call your senators, and spread the word to protect our archive!"
- When talking with Republicans play up the fact that this would force Elon to implement age verification systems on X (yes do call it X during the call). Elon's been threatening to primary Republicans who stand in his way so there's fear of him. Also play up concerns about "Liberals" doxxing people or Chinese hackers.
- When talking with Democrats, play up the connections to Project 2025 and suggest voters will not be happy to see Democrats siding with it.

I understand it’s difficult to be a parent but it’s time we start telling parents bluntly it’s not the internet responsibility to keep your child safe it’s your responsibility to keep your child safe on the internet

Something terrifying about the way censorship is just straight up happening right now and they're barely trying to pretend that isn't what it is. The UK rolling out the Online Safety Act which forces anyone accessing 'adult' content (including discord, LGBT+ forums, various resources for drug addicts etc.) to share their face and ID with American third party companies, and refusing to debate a repeal in parliament despite 300,000 signatures on their own website to do so. Something fishy going on with Google docs suddenly deleting/restricting content. Itchio and Steam suddenly deleting 18+ games including both porn games and horror games at the behest of Mastercard.
Like. Truly in the past month the censorship is hitting like a truck and we're all just supposed to be fine with it. Like. It's genuinely making me feel sick.

there’s a difference between “just do a little yoga it will cure your depression forever :)” and “going for a run won’t solve your problems but it will make you feel a little better and that’s the first step” but this site seems to treat them as the same thing

It should be illegal for insurance to deny my coverage and then expect me to pay over $7k USD just for the one refill.
Guess I won't be starting anti-depressants till thats sorted, fuck sake.

Advice I gave someone today was: 'do it stupid.'
She wants to learn photography. Do it stupid. Take a million photos. Don't think about why they're not good. Enjoy the process of taking photos.
Pick out tge ones you like the most and figure out why you like them. Is it because the subject is centered? Is it because you caught them doing something cool? Is it because the light made cool shadows?
Do it stupid. If you try to do it smart, youll get stuck. If you think too much you'll never get to doing. Do it stupid.

Hey guys something fucking bad happened
KOSA/the kids online safety act has been reintroduced into legislature after it passed Senate last year and then got snubbed. It is not unlike the bill that just passed in the UK a few weeks ago. If you don't want what happened in the UK to happen here, now would be a good time to vocally oppose it.
Here is a petition that can be signed by Americans. Attached to the petition is an easy tool that allows you to call and leave messages for your representatives. I have already done so. You can also email your representatives by searching for their name, most have message submission boards as well. This thing died once, it can die again.
Please sign/share the petition and contact your representatives.

For those of you who are angry and hurting over the awful live action Lilo & Stitch, may I recommend you read this? The details of how the team who made the original went to Hawai’i, actually spoke to people, consulted and asked questions, how it was only doable WITHOUT Disney’s constant interference. The remake was not chosen by the people who originally envisioned the story, and I think that’s apparent by now (Chris Sanders reprised his voice role as Stitch because he is contractually slated to do so.)
It helps me to know that Chris Sanders and the rest of that team retain their love for the original story, and their passion for telling stories in the same way, and I hope it helps you too. From what I understand, the amount of love and meaning that people, especially Hawaiian natives, find in the original Lilo & Stitch is a genuine joy for Chris! Skipping the live action remake is a great way to continue to show that love.

Wanting to collect less sought after pokemon cards when you don't have many in person places to do so? Kinda sucks
I can't find anyone selling more than 1-2 of the cards I want, and none of them are particularly expensive and I don't really want the situation of paying more in shipping (multiple times) than I'm paying for what I actually want.
One day, I'll get them...
