every single article, post or mention of a Muslim or Latino person on a Visa or Green Card getting dragged off the street by masked men in broad daylight has the same exact comments: "wow, they're gonna start doing this to citizens soon." some of these people have lived here since they were 8 months old and have lived here for over 30 years. it's very telling that Americans are still are managing to separate them in their head from a "citizen" and that their outrage will be far greater when it's someone who "actually lives here" as if 3 decades in the same country shouldn't qualify you for the same rights as everyone else.

the two things I wish people would learn more than anything are: 1) an activist community is not a friendship group and 2) nobody is exempt from doing harm. you will believe things that are wrong. you will say things that hurt people. the people you like and respect will do the same. people you agree with and have many of the same political goals as you will be absolute cunts. people who believe awful things will be super nice about it. it is unhelpful to act as though the world can be broken into "people I like, and are nice, and therefore never do harm" and "people I don't like, and are mean, and do harm". you have to be able to learn from mistakes you have to learn how to work with cunts and you have to learn that not all of your ideological enemies are cartoon villains

had a bad low blood pressure moment last night and messily asked my partner for saltines and water before realizing i should probably ask for the Blood Pressure Medication I Need To Take. while they went to go grab it though i still had water and crackers so in a daze i took a swig of water but didnt swallow and then tried to cram 2 saltines in my mouth. full of water. in bed. with mouth full of water
