secondly: i loooove this ask bc i’m a fic enthusiast~ seriously i can be very passionate about them hahaha. i’ll do a list of my top 5 atm and a side list with special mentions bc i have no self control and leaving it in under 5 feels like an absolute crime. also just a heads up but i’m super into dead dove/dark themes so some of those fics might include pretty sensitive content so don’t forget to read the tags!!

1- Amersham by Anna. BEST. OF. THE. FUCKING. BEST. currently my favorite one (i’ve been re-reading it like everyday) dudeeee i’m just so freaking obsessed about this story. cried for 2 weeks non stop it’s just so FKING GOOD and charles’ characterization is one of my all times favorite. i feel a lump on my throat just by thinking about this fic man. Also read the other cherik work by the same author, it’s also a BANGER

2- The starts incline us, they do not bind us by ikeracity & Pangea. i’ve never read sth like this before in this fandom and as much as i searched i don’t think i’ll ever find it seriously this fic FUCKSSSS. i also have to re-read it from time to time bc some of the scenes there are so cinematic phewwww scorsese would approve 🙂‍↕️ check the tags tho bc it turns pretty dark at some points

3- Wicked Game by by obstinatrix & seutedeern it’s been a while since i reread this one but it caused such a big impression on me man. really felt like when i was 10 years old with telenovelas i had no business watching but the DRAMA and the YEARNING would have me SCREEAMINGGGG at the tv and this fic felt exactly like this. soooooo good man i adore when a fic leaves me FEELING RAW

4- A measure of peace by arcapelago MAN THIS WAS SO DELICIOUS one of the first fics ive read in the fandom and it set the bar too fucking high. THE TENSION IN HERE WAS TOO MUCH pls set my wig on fire. I need to reread this asap and be insane all over again

5- Never was the fantasy by niniblack this is the mother of all parents!cherik fics to me. like nothing beats this. When i first read these two first chapters i knew i was about to witness art in its pure state. love it soooo so much and the sequel is the motherfucking cherry on top (i never watched XMA but i’ve read this and it’s canon to me idc)

ALSO more fics that are simply too fking good for me to gatekeep:

-Inevitably Yours by vvividlyy yo THE DRAMAAAAAAA what happens in this fic is my worst nightmare in real life but here with cherik i kinda go crazy, exactly the same feeling i have with Amersham. i just love how it’s narrated and and it reads so beautifully, i think i enjoy reading charles’ POV more than erik’s and i’m obsessed how it translates so well in here. also check out all the fics by my goat viv because she’s always cooking with her fics 😮‍💨 craziest line up of artworks since denis villeneuves’ filmography

-Bells’ Toll by MonstruousRegiment this one is soooo interesting, it also left a long standing impression on me. charles’ and erik’s characterizations are so different due to the circunstances that they went through but their chemistry is crazy. i really enjoy these kind of long-fics…

-Kintsugi

one of the most perfect series ive read. also canonverse and sooo wonderful.

-Love is not a victory march by Percyjacksonfan3 it’s a retelling of movieverse cherik but with the small detail that charles and erik were romantically involved. i really love canonverse fics and this one hit the spot soooo well~ very moving and wonderful!!

-Nine Eleven Ten by subtilior. duh. nothing to say that has not been said before. it’s my religion

-Cerberus by MisMiaMimi. (@msmia-mimi) this fic is so freaking underrated?? i consider it a hidden gem under the tag. it was one of the best readings ive had i a long time and made me go through the 7 stages of grief. i laughed and cried and got angry and cried again and then giggled like a little girl, i feel sooo much for the charles of this fic, he has one of the most interesting characterizations ever. the fic is unfinished but soooo worth every single word so pls check it out

Utopia by Takmareriah this fic is INSANEEEE and has one of my favorite cherik dynamics ever. can you tell i really enjoy when charles is erik’s little attic wife? 🫢 you could say i might be a little bit of an enthusiast

also i really have a thing for cherik aus in which they are siblings/half siblings so if ur into that lemme rec you these bangers ;)
