VNR Port on Mac!

Sorry, just saw this recently. @little-crazy-misha-minion has tipped that Visual Novel Reader, or VNR, can now be run on Mac via Wine :D This has definitely expanded the list of BL games we can play on Mac! If you want to know more about VNR, head over to their wiki~

Now, I haven’t personally tried this, too. But I think this does work. Well, mac.eroge does link to VNR as a resource after all. /shrugs Then I stumbled upon another tumblog trying to run VNR along a VN though unsuccessfully. I remembered those days when I tried to run AGTH on Wineskin to no avail, too. /sigh Anyway, I’m gonna try this sometime. Though surely not anytime soon, haha.

Finished Hiroshi’s route~ Yay! The only problem I encountered was my mac kept restarting when I play for long intervals. I’m not sure if it’s because my OS isn’t updated or it has something to do with the game/wrapper itself. /shrugs

Is the game good though?

I’m not really good with reviews. I play them simply to quench my yaoi thirst lol so I don’t think I’m a reliable person to answer this. Honestly, though, I fell asleep while playing this. I found it too..erm, for the lack of a better term, boring and slow-paced. The only thing that pushed me to continue was Haru’s interesting personality and Hiroshi’s cute moans (which got pretty annoying at their last intercourse). Though I think it’s because of the bgm that’s why I fell asleep here and there, haha.

Anyway, after finishing Hiroshi’s End 1 (or, Bad End 1), I became more intrigued with Haru. So I’ll keep playing just to know more about him.

Thank you! It's basically copying the whole game into your wrapper. I actually have tried something similar to this buuut didn't work for me that's why I suggested mounting the game iso instead. If it works with yours, it may work with others, too :)

About Hadaka Shitsuji… How do I save my game? Because it keeps crashing and it’s really annoying to have to start again every time. Thank youuu xx

Little problem

I’ve followed all the steps for downloading DRAMAtical murder but when I double click the wrapper absolutely nothing happens? Like I don’t even get an error or pop up just nothing happens.

Hello! Please check whether you have assigned the proper .exe file

You may also try to reboot your system, or let it rest.

it’s ok :) again, I’m not sure about your problem since I need some details.

okay, as I understand your problem goes like this: you followed the instructions, and when you’re about to install the game (when clicking “Choose Setup Executable”), you cannot find the .exe to setup the game.

now, a few things come into mind: - when choosing for the setup executable, make sure you’re on the correct folder where you downloaded the setup of the game - on finder, check if you’ve got the setup .exe - your setup.exe might not be named as setup.exe - you might’ve downloaded Fuwanovel version of the game

I’m a little bit lost as ‘what’ doesn’t come up as setup.exe, sorry. Or are you saying that the installation menu doesn’t show up?

A slight problem

I was reading your tutorial on how to get DMMd onto the mac but there’s one step holding me back. When I try to install the game, it doesn’t turn into a setup.exe. I don’t know if you can help but I was just hoping you had a solution to my problem?? And it’s fine if you can’t help or have the time to deal with this!

Hello! I’m not sure how I can help you but I believe you can’t find or load the setup.exe? Where are you installing from? An .iso file? Or from the game disk?

I finally finished the demo game, lol. Anyway, so I had time to test out which tricks are needed. Again, it’s not the ultimate fix to have the videos play. You can just skip them and watch them off YouTube. But if you’d like to watch in-game somehow, simply install these Winetricks: d3dx9 quartz l3codecx.

I know that this blog has been neglected already and I’m really sorry about that. Life has been nothing but a butt to me :< Aaanyway, I had some free time to spare checking out this game again. It turns out some kindhearted soul already made a tutorial on installing No, Thank You!! on OSX with Wineskin. This guide, btw, has been noticed by the MangaGamer staff themselves. So, it’s a good guide.

As for me, I only have the demo now. And I’m trying different “tricks” to fix the videos in the game. Just watch it off youtube or somewhere :)) I still plan on publishing my own guide, well, for the downloaded version, more likely. :)

I see you haven’t updated in a while, but I have no idea where else I could post this.

I managed to install Lamento on my MAC

I haven’t played the game to it’s full extent yet, but It’s working at the moment. Italic letters look a bit weir, but you can still read what it says.

It was simple to an extend, but I really want other people to know it’s possible and I don’t really know where else to post it so people will see it, if you’d like for me to make a tutorial I’ll gladly do it, just let me know.

I’m pretty sure a lot of people would be happy and benefit from your tutorial if you ever write one (will be honored to post it here, too) :D I’ll definitely add it up to the list which I haven’t updated orz  To those who haven’t heard of it (like me), Lamento has a complete English patch :D

On the other hand, I’m really sorry for not updating ...at all. My internet connection hasn’t been good for the longest time now so I can’t really download full version of games D: Moreover, school’s being a total botch even during breaks TT^TT I haven’t even looked at asks lately orz

I got around to try it earlier. I just reused a Hadaka Shitsuji wrapper and it worked. Was able to [insert spolier here] until after the first choice, where it--uh, crashed. /sigh I’m guessing it’s the repeat of DMMd problems. Mac drivers are unable to render the video(?) or graphics properly. /sigh Anyway, it doesn’t seem as hopeless as DMMd, though. Another issue would be the size and shape of the game window. As you would notice from the screen cap about, the window size seems to be  4:3. Fortunately, though, there are window sizing options in the game settings. w Will keep trying it out. Btw, I’m using the demo for the meantime. Cheers~
