i really don’t wanna hate ste ddie but CHRIST if the fans aren’t fucking insane. i’ve had to block ten different tags to finally starting filtering out the porn. half of looking for byler fics is scrolling past ste ddie stuff. and maybe i’m a little resentful of the fact that two older guys who had mildly flirtatious undertones in their 4 conversations is getting almost as much if not more attention than the queer ship that has been built up since the first episode of the show and is going to be canon. mike and will have been romantically coded for so long and they have such emotional, deep, and genuine scenes and will is canonically in love with mike but the two hot twenty years olds who barely interacted are more popular. ESPECIALLY the people who claim they were queer baiting with ste ddie

i just feel like it’s been blown way out of proportion and is overshadowing the queer love story that the show is actually about. this isn’t hate to anyone who ships ste ddie, it’s mostly just criticism of the fandom as a whole and the way society will treat queer people as a sexual concept even if they aren’t homophobic. a lot of ste ddie’s popularity comes from people who emphasize the sexual tension, which is fine, but the fact that two guys having very mild sexual tension is enough to make them more popular than an actual queer love story that isn’t built off any sort of sexual tension just says a lot
