I love how they portray dynamics so it’s something I mostly focused on when analysing and redrawing it. Also changed a bit HotGuy’s design to make his boots look a bit more robotic for support :D

I honestly can’t wait for you all to see Secret Keeper in chapters 6-10. I’m feeding you all Secret Keeper after the Dried Flowers events, obviously, since Past Life is after Secret and Wild life and their behaviour is so different and yet same because of an established relationship between Scar, Grian, and Secret Keeper. I can’t say exactly what is the same and what’s not because I want to keep it for the comic.

I might share my drafts of fanfic regarding this au but during 3rd life, which also very different to how Secret Keeper is past last life. I’m actually wondering if anyone would be interested in small snippets of writing while I’m drawing comic? It would save me time, probably, if I wouldn’t need to draw daily on top of uni, job, and comic.

Not me immediately imagining what would happen if Secret keeper “breaks” his toy. Like.. idk how or why but you know the state you get when you just.. can’t be bothered anymore? When after everything you’ve been through all you feel is hurt and pain so it’s best to feel nothing at all? To go numb. Yeah that, Since he is just a toy to use then once of no use it should be thrown away. But I get the feeling even then Secret keeper would keep him around as a prize unless Grian shows no signs of care? Idk sorry I like/love angst!

Ah, see, my little sprout, Secret Keeper is not stupid to break the toy. They take a great care of Scar. There is a reason why I put in Scar’s opinion on Secret Keeper “let me believe that you care”.

But let’s discuss what will happen if Scar will go numb and Grian truly doesn’t care from the standpoint of Secret Keeper as a character. (I’m not going to confirm if that is how dried flowers will go or won’t go, just character analysis)

For Their Grace it’s definitely would be a case to dismiss, eat the brain and throw away. That’s what happened to Martyn. He was supposed to be locked away, he obeys and listens, he would’ve been a good tool, toy, pet, call whatever you want and Rush (watcher in charge of Limited Life) really was disappointed that Martyn went crazy to the point of beyond repair.

Let’s discuss what would happen if Secret Keeper just blindly followed the orders from Their Grace?

First change would be that Secret Keeper would stop visiting Scar. Will stop bringing him food. Which leads to quite a problem…

When any of the watchers will try to dispose Scar and get his brain, he might just hunt them back. He might just shoot them on sight. He will eat them if he manages to kill them.

Scar is a vex. And vexes will eat anything that has meat and magic. He wouldn’t even hesitate, especially if he went numb. Because if he doesn’t care, then instincts will take over. And there’s no instinct to die, but there is instinct to feed.

So you would get a very wild vex. Eventually he would get disposed. Eventually he would get back to Hermitcraft. But the hunt and hunger won’t stop.

And then Secret Keeper will find it amusing. Because it’s such a lovely taste of fear and heartbreak. Most likely even Cupid will tag along on chaos that would happen.

But what if Secret Keeper disputes the case of how useless Scar is?

Scar had proven himself to be obedient. With how long he was stuck with no one but Secret Keeper, with how sickly caring and friendly Secret Keeper was acting, how Scar could feel that they didn’t lie to him once… Scar would’ve gone numb on hate towards Secret Keeper as well. He would indulge himself in the lie that Secret Keeper cares.

So what we have? In higher ups opinion, Scar is useless. Scar listens to Secret Keeper. Scar trusts Secret Keeper.

For safety reasons on both sides there would’ve been made a deal. Vex magic works on Watchers too, so Scar would’ve felt a lot safer if they made a deal.

Secret Keeper promises to keep him safe. Scar promises to listen and obey. Probably with more nuisance to each part, but I can’t be bothered typing out how deal would’ve been formulated

And there we have it. Secret Keeper gets a pet. No longer is Scar an object and a trophy, but a pet. To Scar’s mind, since, in this discussion, Grian truly doesn’t care and therefore wouldn’t have shown up, Secret Keeper is a friend. He knows that it’s a one sided friendship. But it’s better than nothing.

With everything that happened in Secret Life, with Grian’s absence, with Secret Keeper’s careful words, Scar would’ve believed that everyone else also don’t care. That him acting like a villain made them hate him.

So Scar would’ve just gotten ‘adopted’ by watchers. Taken under their wing, specifically Secret Keeper’s one. If not to piss Grian off, then to piss Rush off, because Rush didn’t get to keep his winner and Secret Keeper does.

Cupid would actually enjoy talking to Scar as well. Not like a friendship, but like an entertainment. It would be constant remarks of “I’m so sorry that I paired you up with our sunshine. I needed to do that. We wronged you on so many levels just because our darling Sun made us believe he cared about you. Ah, what a tragedy. Believe me when I say, we’re all truly sorry for how much he wronged you. It’s so heartbreaking!”

Cupid doesn’t feel sorry. They feel nothing. But they love the way Scar gets more open with them when they act all lovely-dovey.

Even more, from time to time Secret Keeper will shape shift into a player form, so Scar would see their face, their features. And Secret Keeper would shapeshift into a vex hybrid. Again, just a manipulation, to make Scar feel even more trusting of them.

Scar treats watchers as people and not fearsome gods whom they pretend to be. And that’s what breaks them a bit.

If you want some spoilers again, enjoy one of the dialogues between Secret Keeper (SK) and Scar (S) that didn’t make a cut in the comic due to limitations on how much I was willing to draw.

SK: “Do you want to talk to her?”

S: “No. Don’t you dare bring her here-“

SK: “Of course not, wrong formulation. What I meant is you talk to her house so often. It seems like you want to talk to this allay. Do you want me to shapeshift into her?”

S: “What? Did you find a new way to torture me?”

SK: “Hm… No, I really don’t know why I’m offering this. You seem like you need it.”

Scar didn’t respond for a while. And then he nodded.

Secret Keeper’s shadowy form turned to flesh, their purple eyes turning blue, and suddenly in front of Scar was identical copy of Lizzie except for her body language and facial expressions. But Scar can deal with this. He just needs to apologise. To apologise and feel heard for the first time in a long while.

S: “I’m sorry.”

SK: “What?”

S: “I’m sorry I was a jerk to you, we should’ve been friends, allies, but my tasks- I don’t know why I prioritised tasks over people and it seems I hurt so many…”

Secret Keeper felt weird. There was so many delicious emotions coming from this man and yet how this apology was, technically, directed at them made them feel weird.

S: “I wouldn’t blame them if they didn’t want my return. I, actually, think you all don’t want me back and it’s okay. I wouldn’t want me back either.”

Secret Keeper knew what the weird feeling was. Because every piece of blame, guilt, and paranoia that the vex in front of them felt was due to their words, their actions, their manipulation. Technically, a healthy person would blame them for all of the above. But Scar blamed himself. So weird.

SK: “I don’t blame you. You were doing what you were supposed to, dar-“

Scar put his hand on Secret Keeper’s, or rather in that moment Lizzie’s, mouth.

S: “No… nicknames. Please.”

Secret Keeper didn’t say anything after that. Just let Scar rant about everything and anything. Apologies turned into reminiscing on memories, into promises of showing off shiny crystal collections and having a sleepover party as they promised without any tricks. The entire time Scar was talking, Secret Keeper sat there, listening, in this disgusting and pathetic form, and yet for some reason they didn’t complain about it.

The taste in their mouth turned from creamy sweetness to bitter with only sweet aftertaste along with how Scar’s eyes changed from being empty glass to having some sparkle in them. Secret Keeper should’ve stopped that. Scar was getting happy and they didn’t like that bitter taste. But for some reason they didn’t.

They sat and listened. And nodded along. And offered support. And offered a hug. And tried to ignore the bitter taste in their mouth.

Secret Keeper told themselves that they did it to ensure guilt and self blame didn’t drive Scar crazy. That’s the only logical explanation they could’ve think of. But for some reason it felt like a lie.

Hi! Can’t help but notice secret keeper’s strange attachment to Scar. Is there any reason for it other than him being the winner of secret life? Just saying cause to me it feels like they aren’t just sticking to Scar to have a jab at Grian. If that wasn’t the intended interpretation of them then I am sorry I am not good at paying attention to things. Anyways have a nice day sorry for bothering you!

Okay, so, I really wanted to keep it as a plot point for dried flowers au, but I get too many questions like that both here and in my comments on TikTok, so I feel a need to reply. Mostly because it flatters me to see that you all enjoy my au and I don’t really need a reason to yap my heart out.

!!!SPOILERS FOR DRIED FLOWERS!!!

Secret Keeper does have a strange relationship with Scar. And you guessed all the reasons. Scar is THEIR winner. They see him as their trophy, prized possession and it would’ve been the case with any winner.

But they would’ve given up on them quite fast if it wasn’t Scar.

Because Scar is important to Grian even if Grian doesn’t want to admit it. And Secret Keeper utterly believes that the punishment Grian received for betraying and abandoning watchers’ order is not enough.

Secret Keeper has no authority. But they can convince Their Grace that having a permanent passive food source is beneficial in order to not repeat situation with Limited Life. And they did convince Their Grace to let keep Scar imprisoned.

But Secret Keeper done it for the sake of keeping “darling sun’s precious friend” in THEIR hands. Out of all watchers that received role and name, Secret Keeper despises Grian the most. They will never call G by the name. He doesn’t deserve name in their opinion. He chose to be a player, they will treat him as such. But they feel so much because they used to look up to Grian.

And now imagine how they feel? Your idol turns into this disgusting pathetic sympathetic creature. They don’t feel pity for him. They don’t care. They feel betrayed, fooled, tricked, disgusted. If I will get to writing 3rd life of Dried Flowers that topic of how much Secret Keeper adored Grian would be shown and brought up.

Secret Keeper also doesn’t really hide it from Scar. My difficulty with them as a character is that they don’t lie. They tell carefully crafted truths. They will let you believe a lie and not correct you if that’s the conclusion you achieved, but they won’t tell a lie. Another sick reason why they enjoy Scar. He’s a vex. He’s naturally good at the wordplays. They see it as a test how much they can get away with.

Dried flowers Au: Scar’s diet

I had a wonderful question asked in my comments on TikTok and I need to address it here as well in regards of dried flowers.

!!!Trigger warning for the dark topics of human consumption!!!

Q:

I’m dead set on Scar being a vex and, thank you, Scar ‘we eat humans’ Goodtimes, sir, those are canonically eat anything that:

Has meat, specifically hearts

Has magic, more better

As I stated in hybrid lessons: vexes and allays, vexes don’t need to eat that often. Once a month. It means that within games Scar will get hungry at least once, usually twice.

But wonders of the world, not only sentient species and not all sentient species have magic. And just meat doesn’t cut it for Scar.

Do we remember unhinged Scar almost in every season? Yeah, so in regards of the Dried Flowers au it’s him getting hungry. He doesn’t always fulfil it with other players and sometimes might eat allays (double life), vexes (limited life), warden or other mobs that do have some magic, but he for sure ate players or at least some part of them. Shall we go in the details?

3rd life: Definitely was biting onto Grian quite often, G being watcher is basically a magical feast. The final 3 and ‘no kill pass’ wasn’t exactly a betrayal on logical level. It just was Scar’s hunger. Both Bdubs (glare hybrid) and Grian have magic, have meat and hearts. In that moment Scar was too hungry to think past the fact that they are food.

Scar felt guilty after the hunger got fulfilled.

Last life: I need to rewatch it to give a definitive answer when he might’ve ate someone, but I’m sure those contracts and deals of him giving life to someone had a small print that stated:

“By signing this contract and receiving a life from Scar Goodtimes, you permit the life-giver (Scar Goodtimes) to reclaim a piece of your (life-recipient) body part of life-giver’s choosing.

The said body part should be detached from the life-recipient and given up to the life-giver (Scar Goodtimes) upon the life-giver’s demand without the life-recipient’s protest or fight. Should the life-recipient (you) refuse the surrender of their (your) body part, you will give Scar Goodtimes a permission to hunt you down to take your life and flesh.”

Double life: Scar ate allay that he got. He ate Rancher’s Revenge (the warden) and most likely Tango himself. To be fair with how toxic the entire season was Scar might’ve went down a rabbit hole of biting out a pieces of his own flesh. To hurt Grian.

Limited life: Vexes from the mansion. But for sure ate Grian (tnt Minecart explosion kill) I need to rewatch this one as well.

And finally, your favourite, or rather my favourite: Secret life.

Within the game Scar really didn’t bother to be nice. Tasks weren’t letting him be nice, so he wasn’t even trying to look for an alternative solution to satisfy his hunger. Bdubs, Tango, Impulse. He killed more people, sure, but Etho, Gem, Cleo, and BigB do not have magic for him to eat them.

After the game the only potential food source that Scar sees is Secret Keeper. But he doesn’t risk it. It’s like prioritising his sanity over hunger. He will never attack Secret Keeper out of fear of being stuck truly alone.

In return, however, Secret Keeper brings him food. It will be shown in the comic but as a minor detail that doesn’t get talked much, so I can yap about it here without any spoilers.

Secret Keeper brings to Scar dead watchers. Disobedient watchers. Watchers would eat only emotions or brains, so the rest of the body usually just gets thrown out anyway. Secret Keeper prepares and cooks the body, bringing it to Scar. So it looks like a steak, nothing weird. Both Scar and Secret Keeper do not talk about the meat. Both claim ignorance. Both know the truth (Secret Keeper because they cooked it, Scar because he feels how much magic is in the meat).

Not a spoiler but a fan fact: if Grian were to get executed/hunted down for his disobedience, Secret Keeper would preserve his body to feed it to Scar over a long time period.

I love cannibal buttercups. They are so productive. Grian only needs brain, Mumbo only blood and Scar can be satisfied with just muscle and organs. Nothing goes to waste!

Fun fact my friend edited original sketch of Grian. Originally he had a fork and a knife but apparently you eat brains with a spoon since they are like pudding.
