Look at those lips and all. that. hair! Attaching the head was a complete nightmare as the hair strands scratched and creaked as I pushed down, but magically nothing broke - whew!

I DIY'd a display case as well, it's not yet complete but it stayed together well enough to at least go for a trial run : )

That great feeling when you inadvertently predict the Trephacard portrait in "Coming Around Again" Chapter 4:

The Tepes family portrait that hung in the living room alongside the similar, slightly larger painting of their combined Belnades-Belmont-Tepes family that Lisa had been kind enough to commission.

Mine's got more kiddos though. Sypha would've not been dressed in a modern formal gown been carrying Mary, Trevor would've probably had both hands on Frediric's shoulders as he was squirming and complaining he was bored for the fifteenth time. And it definitely would've been Ann tugging on Alucard's hair, and she'd (and he) would be overdressed compared to the rest of the family, because Alucard would've insisted on buying her a new dress for the session even though Trevor figured it would've been fine putting her in her brother's hand-me-downs instead.

Ahh but this is SotN version Richter - unwilling lord of the castle and inadvertent damsel in distress (alas, Maria probably didn't get to carry him out of the castle... but I love the idea of the Belmont being the one rescued for once). Alucard never really got to meet the energy ball that was Rondo Richter (except for the copy in GoS) but he's probably slightly grateful for that, even if he'd never admit it. I love Richter with his smarmy swagger but I love the idea of him being kinda sheepish and like, "Well I just f-cked everything up for the next 200 years."

Soma doesn't have a big role in my story but I'm glad people keep asking about him, as he does need to meet his sort of / sort of not extended family at some point : )

I randomly remembered Dracula's conversation with Alucard from "The Living Years" today and kinda died on the inside because OUCHOOFOWIE!!!! 😭

Like, they said that they'd talk it out like normal people if Dracula ever started losing his mind again, and Dracula DID lose his mind again....

So like, how'd that conversation go???? Because on one hand it was probably at least a little bit morbidly hilarious with SOTN era Alucard being like "Hey Dad, could you not?" and Dracula being like "LOL, no."

But on the other hand, what kind of absolutely tragic tea did Maria and Richter witness?

Did Julius get to see Tragic Tea Two: Electric Boogaloo during the battle of '99?

I may have conveniently blamed the castle for Drac's state of mind. (Castle: Why me, what did I do?? D :) So there wasn't really any reasoning with him. Like I always headtilt at the conversation towards the end of SotN where Dracula says he wants to purge the human side of Alucard, but that should be the part of him that he'd value even more than his own contribution, because that's proof of Lisa's love for him…

Hmm, IIRC Richter and Maria weren't present for Alucard's battle with Dracula… lemme check. Yes, he tells her to take Richter and leave. So really they just got sad!Alucard to deal with which probably involved a lot of moping and sighing and reluctance to do anything for a good few years.

Ironically everyone's view of Dracula is now colored by Alucard's own perception - except for Trevor's of course, which is different in that, while he doesn't know exactly how Alucard feels, his own memory of "Vlad" isn't the worst. He passed before things really went south again.

Good question about Julius. Instead of Nocturne (the untelling of SotN) I really wish they'd done the Demon Castle War instead, as there's no official story detailing what happened there. I actually never thought about how involved / not involved Alucard might have been in Dracula's defeat there, though we know he was present during the sealing of the Castle.

I would love to see an animated rendition of a 19-year-old Julius... you know he'd be a total hottie just like all the Belmonts before him.

LOL the one thing I love with the whole Arikado thing is everything he does or says in that guise makes me think "World's Tired-est Wage Slave." Because if you aren't working at least 60 hrs a week in Japan you aren't working. Like he spends sun up to sundown in the office then feels obligated to make an appearance for a beer on Friday night. When his co-workers ask about his weekend plans, his answer is always, "Sleep in." Which sounds fine until Soma texts him at 9 AM asking if he wants to meet for breakfast somewhere, because breakfast is better when someone else is paying for it...

The latest chapter of "Coming Around Again" has me sobbing, poor Alucard, all of that emotional constipation is finally catching up to him (RIP).

Love seeing Trevor and Richter interact.

Alucard seemingly accepted things too easily last chapter. It's only now sinking in, and it's hitting him hard.

I will say I'm really enjoying the contrast between how the different members of the harem (lol) interact. It's a great group of personalities. Like Trevor and Maria are just openly taking pot shots. But Sypha's version of disagreement is to make grumbly noises at Richter. It's just fun pitting them all against one another in this battle royale.
