#i mentioned this in the replies but i had a few of these as a kid!!!!#i got kaya; kit; molly; and julie—all in happy meals#(sadly not addy with the cute quilt-making activity though 😔)#(the others had different period/story-specific activities like ‘make a mini paper lantern’ [kit] and ‘make a cootie catcher’ [julie])#but i LOVED playing with the lil paper dolls and settings that i had#they were kind of a substitute for playing with actual multiple ag dolls since my family couldn’t afford more than one#usually i played that julie (since she was from the most modern period) built a time machine and used it to visit the earlier girls#and then they all went to each other’s times and showed each other how they lived#the toys also had lil booklets in the front with intros to the character; trivia games about them; how to draw their pets; etc.#which I also did ravenously!!! and i felt proud of myself for already having read the books & therefore recognizing the characters/stories#10/10 best mcdonald’s toy i’d ever gotten in 5 years of getting a happy meal every friday#american girl#american girl dolls#dolls#toys#paper dolls#addy walker#mcdonald’s#photos

when I was a kid I read a sci-fi story where some researcher discovers that all crocodiles since prehistory have had the same congenital heart defect, so they set about curing it. when they do, suddenly their research specimen starts getting stronger and healthier and growing rapidly and developing new appendages, and it turns out all crocodilians were actually stunted sickly forms of dragons. that story really stuck with me because it's basically an expression of the "what if I went to the doctor and they discovered I was deficient in one special vitamin and then I took a pill and all my problems and ailments vanished immediately" fantasy.
