professor slughorn thought it was a good idea to pair up two of his best students

to be honest, he's not a very talkative person

but would be absolutely fine with being your partner

rumors always flew around the school about his family, their pure-blood mania and adoration for dark magic

and that was why he didn't have much friends

but you couldn't care less about his blood status or relatives

so you didn't treat him any different than you would treat your friends and house-mates

and in that moment a beautiful friendship started

he's a gentleman, no doubt about it

good manners always came naturally for him

so he would carry your books and take you to your classes

(even if it meant running back to the other side of the castle for his own)

but just like it would happen everywhere else, people started noticing

and regulus was afraid

even though he didn't want to lose you, the thought of disappointing his parents was a burden that he couldn't bear by himself

when orion and walburga sent him a letter about how your relationship needed to end, he genuinely wanted to cry

luckily, you were by his side

and helped him overthrow everything

just like sirius, who couldn't have been more proud of his little brother for standing up against their parents

after that, things got better

he was the best boyfriend you could ever have

buying you expensive jewelry and the finest books

holding hands was a natural thing between you two

it almost came as an instinct, your hands searched for each other in the need of comfort

more often than not, you'd be on your way to the black lake carrying a couple books and some food

regulus definitely speaks french and latin besides english

so i feel like he would love to read poems in these languages for you as the romantic guy he is

dates with him would be the best thing ever

you didn't have to worry about anything, he would love to plan where you were going and what would you do

cozy afternoons drinking butterbeer and chatting about random things are definitely on the list

of course nothing was perfect, and other boys and girls would also notice how beautiful and smart you are

what would make regulus jealous, but also insecure

what if he wasn't good enough for you?

you could definitely find someone else out there, less troubled and better than him

but here's the thing: you wouldn't, not even in a million years

he treated you like royalty, and made you feel special and wanted like no one else ever did before, nothing would compare to that
