!OOC: so life really hates me and every time i make a comeback, things happen. yousuke is going to be a semi-active blog, where i will only be able to do things here primarily on my days off—which are two days out of a week. thank you for your patience! if i have a later shift i can try and do at least one reply, but as of late, i have been pulling 12 hour shifts. which leaves me no time or energy to dish out proper replies.

3 am sentence starters

“ why are you awake? “

“ i can’t sleep. “

“ go to bed already. “

“ i’m a being of pure power, i don’t need sleep. “

“ i’ve been running on 5 hour energy all day, there’s no stopping now. “

“ i’m. so. tired. “

“ i had a nightmare. “

“ it’s nothing, go back to bed. “

“ when’s the last time you slept? “

“ you’re clearly exhausted. why are you doing this to yourself? “ 

“ wake up. wake up. wake uuuuup. “

“ i’ll sleep when i’m dead. “

“ yawning doesn’t mean i’m tired! maybe i’m just bored by you telling me to go to sleep so much. “

“ is something wrong? “

“ i just need to finish what i’m doing, then i’ll sleep. “

“ you said you were about to go to bed two hours ago. c’mon, time’s up. “

“ is it okay if i sleep in your bed tonight? i’m kinda freaked out. “

“ stop bossing me around, you’re not my mom. i’ll go to sleep when i want to. “

“ you’re pouring coffee all over the counter. “ 

“ why are you making hot pockets at 3 am? “

“ i don’t care when you go to bed, but do you have to wake me up in the middle of the night with your loud music?! “

         “…”

        {/Nicole was earnestly doing her best to try and stay polite. In all honesty…she wasn’t sure why these girls wanted to talk to her. Sometimes the ladies of Harajuku would speak to her and ask her about her hair and general fashion sense. It was a bit retro and chill, yet still so outlandish enough to garner attention simply by her choice of t-shirts and accessories.

          She was so prepared to give her rehearsed answers and just move on with her day until they started speaking of Yousuke. Now that, had her attention. Although what they were saying…wasn’t exactly the friendliest things around. Granted, a lot of the town didn’t seem to like Yousuke. And Nicole thought it was unfair. They were hating someone for something he literally had no control over. It’s not like he ran the business nor chose it’s location. He just goes with his family and does what’s asked of him. What’s so bad about that? At the end of the day, all Yousuke was for these people was a scapegoat.

          Like these girls complaining about not being able to get the day off or some stupid shit like that. Didn’t…they know how that kind of thing worked? A person is supposed to ask for a day off, as in fill out the request form, at least a week in advance. It gives the manager time to plan and actually help so the establishment doesn’t suffer, and so that they can still get their time off. They were just terrible planners. They couldn’t do this stuff on their day off? Or even be shady, but smart enough, to simply call out? Honestly…blaming him just cause they couldn’t get their way was more annoying than anything else.

          Yet, Nicole still stood there, just trying to listen. Now that she was thinking about it, it would take nothing and be so easy to play the clueless American and pretend she had no idea what they were saying. Yousuke was adequate enough at English, he could help her pull it off if he truly wanted to.

          Her thoughts that had actually helped her ignore the two chattering chipmunks were interrupted when Yousuke approached them. Of course they were unhappy to be told to go back to work. However, it was better that they did so they didn’t lose their jobs that they didn’t want, liked to complain about, but didn’t want to lose. Geez, they could pass for Americans if she didn’t know better.

          Reaching out and taking her drink, she glanced over at Yousuke as he voiced his concerns. For a moment, she thought. Honestly he probably already knew. But in the event he didn’t, it was better to lie and possibly spare his feelings.}

         “–Nah. I started tunin’ them ou’ after abou’ a minute. Started thinkin’ abou’ how I’m gonna cream ya in Smash tanigh’. Also started wonderin’ if Electro Swing is as popular here as i’ is back home.”

• 01. THE MAGICIAN. ‣          He knew that he had nothing to worry about, not with Nicole. Yousuke needed to learn how to have more faith in his friends. Especially to those closest to him. Especially Nicole. Because she has yet to ever let him down, and he hoped with all his might, that he could provide her with the same amount of comfort. He’s been in Inaba long enough to look past the things people whisper about him. As sad as it may be, he simply accepted that people will always paint him to be the bad guy.

                                Those people didn’t matter. The people’s opinions that do are the ones he will always take to heart; for better or for worse.

            A quiet scoff escaped him, eyes rolling briefly as he waved her words off with a hand. Will she cream him in Smash? Probably. He rarely wins against her, but he certainly was no quitter! He has been practicing during his free time, whenever he was up for it, anyways. Yousuke wasn’t a serious gamer, not the way Nicole was—but he’s been developing more interest in the genre because of her. 

                        「 Yeah, yeah. I ain’t gonna  go down without a fight!                                    Kicking in screaming, the whole entire way! As for                                    Electro  swing, maybe  somewhere in the city, but                                                                                       not so much here.   」

         Popping open his drink, he held the metal rim to his lips, sipping at it casually before he gave a side-eyed glance away from her.

                        「 I don’t think I’ve heard much of it myself ... —                                                                                 Guilty is charged. 」

          And cue a small chuckle on his end.
