“Eddie, look!” Buck hisses in a poor attempt of a whisper (why is he whispering? Eddie doesn’t know. There’s people everywhere). “The one is cleaning the other!”

Looking in the direction Buck is pointing, Eddie sees one tiny black monkey laying on its back, belly up, the other monkey is picking through his companions fur in that weird monkey way.

It is kind of adorable. Mostly because they’re the small monkeys that Eddie actually enjoys admiring from afar.

“Isn’t that sweet?” Buck coos, pressing in close to Eddie. It’s so hot and humid in this small rainforest area that Eddie can feel beads of sweat dripping down his face and back, and having Buck as close as he is (along with all the other people also in this area) isn’t helping. But Eddie just curls an arm around Buck to pull him even closer, telling himself it’s to keep Buck out of the way. Eddie smiles to himself when his best friend just goes where guided, content with Eddie holding him.

“If we were monkeys,” Buck says, turning his head to speak over his shoulder without looking away from the pair of animals, “I’d clean you.”

“…thank you?” Eddie isn’t sure how to respond.

Buck laughs, back vibrating against Eddie’s chest, slipping his fingers into Eddie’s and then the both of them are stepping through the doors into a much cooler space. It’s also much darker because of whatever exhibit is here but Eddie can see Buck’s eyes, bright and alive, staring at him.

“It’s a way of showing love and care.” Buck explains, voice more of an actual whisper this time. Again, he doesn’t have to, but Eddie thinks this is more purposeful. “I’d take care of you. Pick off the tiny little bugs—“

Eddie wrinkles his nose, “That’s disgusting.”

“And eat them for you.”

“That’s even more disgusting.” Eddie comments and Buck laughs, swaying somehow even closer. “But thank you. I appreciate the sentiment.”

“You wouldn’t do the same?”

“Bugs, Buck.”

“We’d be monkeys. We’d like it.”

“You’re so fucking weird.”

“Yup.” Buck grins, “Wanna go see more fish?”

Eddie nods, “And jellyfish.”

“Absolutely.”

It’s then that Eddie realizes he and Buck are still holding hands. And that neither are letting go.

He doesn’t plan on saying anything.

Hi, you said that you have inside info on why Bobby was killed. Is it something you can share? I guess Peter Krause wanted to leave even though they all said that wasn‘t the case?

Yes I do have a bit of inside information - Peter was trying to negotiate a new contract (my understanding is he wanted same pay with fewer hours but I don’t have the specifics!) and when abc didn’t want to agree to the terms he activated a release clause which meant Tim had to make a lot of changes quite late in the day and kill Bobby off. It’s why Angela was talking about Ravi being the one who was supposed to be killed and that they’d filmed those scenes - not because the show was trying to double bluff anyone or anything but because entire chunks of the season arc had to be shuffled and rewritten!

It is always worth remembering that behind the scenes politics can have a big impact on what ends up on our screens - a better writer/show runner with more experience could’ve handled it better and managed to do something interesting, but from my end it looks like Tim panicked and came up with the ridiculous, badly written nonsense we ended up with on screen - showing how actually inexperienced he is as a show-runner - so I won’t be forgiving him any time soon but I can at least understand how we ended up where we did and why he’s still desperately trying to do something with it now!

first grade teacher buck sandbox. on valentine’s day the kids exchange those cute valentines with each other, and eddie bribes chris with candy to give mr buck a special valentine from him. but chris misunderstands the assignment and accidentally reads it aloud to buck in front of the whole class and its a terrible poem eddie wrote asking for his number. and buck is blushing sooo hard one of the kids is like mr. buck do i need to get miss maddie (who is the school nurse. i just decided.) -cait

literally eddie at the school fair teaching fire safety. chris is bragging about how his dad is so cool and he SAVES people as buck with his curly hair and pink birthmark and cozy sweater and fun patterned socks (they have sloths on them today) and his gaggle of little kids all cheering like “mr. buck!!! look at the cool firefighters!!!” and eddie is. well. a goner :)

the tragedy of buddie is that buck, who has little to no idea what he’s feeling 90% of the time, has multiple people in his life who are willing to tell him point-blank that there may realistically be something going on between him and his best friend, while eddie, who would happily be kissing buck up against a wall right now if only he knew it was possible, does not

“Good job, Mr. Buckley,” Firefighter Diaz says, once he’s standing right in front of Buck. He holds out the small toy, eyebrow quirking up. Is everything in slow motion? Buck thinks everything is in slow motion. It feels like it takes forever for him to reach out and take it, but time seems to speed back up when their fingers brush, just slightly, during the exchange. He breathes in a little too sharply and nods at him, like, yes, an idiot, and his mouth is moving before he can stop it. “Uh, yes, yeah, thank you.”

...or, Buck’s an elementary school teacher. Eddie’s the hot firefighter that visits his school for a fire safety assembly. He is so normal about it. Seriously. Just ask his coworkers.

he'd hand-draw unique doodles for every single student to put on their desks and their little cubbies. he'd tell the best stories and have the best facts. he'd come up with the most fun games to play at recess and his science experiments would be so fun and hands-on as well! they'd call him mr. buck and after the reads them a sanitised kid's version of arthurian legend they call him sir buck-a-lot for like a week. he'd have a class plushie that students would take turns getting to take home for the weekend and and then write about their adventures together in a class diary (no live class pets bc no animal cruelty). he'd plant an herb garden on the window sill with them. he'd bake the best birthday cakes for his kiddos as well, taking into account taste and special interest.

omg first grade teacher Mr. Buckley who is known for being so big and kid and soft-hearted and wearing the softest cardigans to school every day. Whose students always draw him like a big pink giant and feel so comforted in his presence. He always draws something silly (like the smiley heart) on his whiteboard and bakes his kids treats and all the moms and dads have a huge crush on him (Eddie included if we're playing this buddie sandbox). Yayy
