I had a WILD week at work, but I did have time to pull these a couple days ago. The fool leapt out of the deck.
The moon behind the owl is intriguing me. The king of swords is responsible, balanced, fair, but also a bit aloof. They care, but just a little bit. But in this deck we have the moon behind them -- the moon, which is all about intuition (and anxiety and power that's out of your control). So if the king has all of the control, this version seems to be emphasizing the weight of that control. And it can be scary when we don't know how the person with the power and control is going to act.
And then there's the fool, which just leapt out of the deck at me while I was shuffling. In many decks the fool is depicted mid-movement, mid-step, etc., but here we have precarious birth and growth. And metamorphosis. But inverted, it's telling us to stop ignoring what's right in front of our faces.
So between the two cards, maybe it's time to look whatever is happening in our lives in the eye, even if we're not the ones in control, or the ones holding all of the cards. It's not going to go away just because we don't want to face it.
Card of the day: king of swords Jumper: the fool Deck: Forager's Daughter Afterlight

You know that feeling when you ask someone for help deciding between 2 or 3 options, but when they pick one it just makes you realize you knew which one you wanted all along? And it’s not the one they picked?
That’s the 4 of cups. Now, what am I already set on, so much so that I’m ignoring all the other offered possibilities? 🤔 I’m going to need to think on it.

Today's card is the 9 of pentacles (reversed) but the 10 of cups (reversed) decided to jump out and join the party, too.
At first glance this doesn't surprise me, because in a very basic sense, the pentacles are earth (grounding) and the cups are water (feeling/emotions). And I do feel like both of those things are in a bit of upheaval right now! Starting a new job, thinking about moving, feeling weird about moving far-ish from friends and all of the things I do around here... it all makes sense.
Nines are about awareness, the type that comes before acceptance or action, when you're teetering at the edge of something. And yeah, I would say I'm resisting the awareness of what I need to do about moving. But this is also a handy warning not to go too hard at the new job -- don't let yourself work too hard. It's possible to do too much (and overextend yourself).
It's interesting to me that the 10 of cups decided to jump out of the deck today. This card makes me think of near misses. Soooo close to the contentedness and wholeness of the card when it's upright (but also the hint of stagnation). So, what's missing? Seems like it's telling me not to forget to actually connect with people or things that mean something to me, while all of this change is happening in my life. Don't lose sight of the bigger picture.

~card of the day ~

I wasn’t surprised to see this one — starting a new job is a lot of change. And it’s been both more and less change than I expected. This card always shows up when change has been knocking for a while and I finally let it in.
The one thing this card always says to me is that you can’t stop change. You can get out of its way or go along for the ride. But he’s not moving too quickly — you can catch up.
