In a fast world, something sad

Is almost tranquil.

The summer breeze

Brushes my knees

I like to spend time with my friends

Before this magical time ends

I hope this time never stops,

If it does my heart will drop!

I will never tell the sun "adieu"

If it means I can spend one more day with you!

When I look in the mirror

I see a different girl

One telling me how I should look

And how I should feel

She is the only one I can trust

She follows me around now

Don't eat that

Don't drink that

I'm tired

I'm cold

She doesn't seem to be going anywhere

As I step on the scale

Her eyes peer down

Gain? Maintain? Lose?

Lose, even if I lose

It's never enough

The only thing I lost

Was myself

I never quite understood summertime sadness

How could one be so miserable in a time of pure bliss?

I understand those who strive for sheer perfection

But those also seem to be the ones who miss

Missing the point of the greenest of grass

Cooped up next to a screen

As if someone is looking at them through a looking glass

Thinking now is the time to be productive

As if that hasn't been the rest of the year

Life has given you a bite of joy

And is asking for you to chew on it until your jaw hurts

Why not sit down and enjoy the scenery

At least for a little while

Maybe just sit down with me
