How do you define a teacher's success? When do you know for certain that your job as an educator has been sufficient? To what degree do we hold educators to a standard above and beyond what we ask for anyone of any other career path, for far less pay and support than we would expect in any other profession? The things we ask of teachers, we would never ask of anyone else in any other profession. It's not just being professional, it's professional martyrdom. You want to ask why teachers are burning out, reaching the ends of careers that they went into with stars in their eyes and love in their hearts earlier and earlier? These standards are why. These conditions are why.

Why is being asked to bring paper plates to the cookout seen as a bad thing? Why do people look down on blue collar and maintenance workers? So much of the necessary but thankless work of what it takes to make society run can be boiled down to the arbitrary values we place on who brings what to the cookout. Today, I want to explore what it says about us that this thankless work is treated as lesser because it is considered less profitable.

Why is every aspect of modern life about maximization? Why does everything have to be about being the best? What is it about doing the most that makes us feel we are still not doing enough? In an society where every aspect of marketing is about convincing the consumer of how much they lack, and having that marketing be built into every aspect of life, it's no wonder people are so dysregulated. Today, let's talk about shifting the focus back on the self and reclaiming your life.

How does Marvel Rivals make me more productive? What does it mean to be a person outside of hustle culture? How does hustle culture impact productivity, and how do we make it stop? Today I want to talk about my favorite time sink: Marvel Rivals.

Why does history matter? Historical context helps root us in where and who were now by showing us who we have been. It helps us create paths forward, innovate, create and protect communities, find joy even when pain surrounds us. But that is why it is important to have a wholistic and anthropological perspective on human history. So that we see people as people and not just as unfortunate victims whom we could not connect with today.

It has been said that those who pride themselves on brutal honesty take more pride in the brutality than they do the honesty. They wield the words they once forged to be a shield as a hammer, bludgeoning anyone who might try to draw close. Realize there is violence in being brutal to yourself just as there would be with anyone else.

I love the ambiguity of the term ‘WIP’. Is it a project in it’s third draft? A final draft being queried? An idea I came up with six months ago and haven’t written anything about yet? You don’t know. Nobody knows.

How does childhood poverty impact long term planning? How do you have a bucket list below the poverty line? How do you overcome a scarcity mindset when you've never known stability? Today, let's discuss this through the lens of my own recent struggles: the concept of travel.

We mistake art and the ability to make art as a luxury, as something only a privileged few will ever be able to afford to do. Because our time has become monetized and we have seen art be stripped from our communities. They have become more utilitarian, stripped of beauty and grandeur as pay-to-see. But art and the ability to make it shouldn't be a luxury. Art should be accessible to everyone.
