“Yuck. Never mind the tea. I’ll get a regular coffee.” Robin looked to the array of pastries, trying to decide if anything was better than the scone Callie was offering.

“Peanut butter and nutella, you say?” Robin asked. “Honestly, I’ll try it. Another time. Ring me up?”

She nodded, and put the scone in a bag before handing it to Robin. “Chocolate scone, and regular coffee. It’ll be 6.82.” She said, looking up from the register. “Let me grab the coffee for you.” It wasn’t long until Callie brought a hot cup to the counter.

Robin leaned back into the couch and kept watch over Callie, who was an honest-to-God blessing right now. Whyyyy the headache? It had been here since last night. Why the hell didn’t it go away?

“You are…” Robin patted Callie on the arm. “A lifesaver.” With that, Robin knocked back the Advil and glass of water, letting out a crisp gasp after – an expression of satisfaction. “So, what’s next, Callie? What is on the agenda today?”

Callie let out a small laugh at the awkward pat on her arm. She leaned her body against the arm of the couch as she watched Robin take the medicine. It was the least she could do for her friend. Friend? Acquaintance? She figured they were more than that by now. “Oh. Well, I had something in mind, but I don’t really think mini golf is that great for a headache. We can watch movies if you want? On low volume.” She clarified. 

Callie had gotten migraines in her life, and they’re horrible, so she knew how it was having a headache that just didn’t go away.

Jeremy rocked on his heels as Callie started her speel, a soft smile coming on his face watching the girl beam. It was nice to see a customer service working who had such great energy, that’s probably why he preferred the Mug over Tim’s. “Nah- never apologize for saying it’s gonna be a good day. Dude I love the positivity,” he grinned. “Uhm- I’ll get a coffee regular and I’m kind of hungry- but like not starving. What do you suggest?”

Seeing his smile made her want to smile more. Smiles were the best feature on people. She loved seeing a warm smile on someone else’s face, especially if she was the one who made that happen. She shrugged awkwardly, and continued on with her job. “Regular coffee.” She repeated back to him as she rang it in the register. Looking over at the window of food, she glanced back at the male. “Uh, muffin? We do have these cute little egg and cheese sandwiches.”

“Yeah, most definitely.” Xander answered before he could think it then stopped in his tracks and actually looked at the person who had spoken to him. “How can I help you?” He asked the girl. He had seen her around town quite often throughout the years along with her sister. 

Nodding awkwardly, Calypso lifted the bag in her hand. “I brought Mrs.Vargas one of the apple muffins that she likes. It was the last one in stock, and she usually comes in around 3 and I didn’t see her today, so I figured.” She shifted her weight in her feet, as she sucked in her lips and popped them out. “Is that weird? Probably.” She laughed.

Typically, Willow would be found on the other side of the counter with Callie but today she found herself leaning against the counter on the other side waiting to order. “You know you don’t have to go through the typical ugly mug spiel, I won’t tell on you.” She laughed. “But I’ll get an iced coffee please.” 

She smiled and nodded. “Of course. And I’ll give you the discount, even though you’re not on the clock.” Callie said. Willow was one of her favorite coworkers and Callie was a huge fan of hers. “How’s the documentary coming?”

“A less cheery demeanor and a green tea please,” Tristan groaned. “Hot and chuck full of lemon and honey,” he added before he pressed his fingers to the bridge of nose in an effort to feel the slightest bit better. He woke up with the nastiest cold today and he was going to blame it on those stupid kids his neighbors had that were deeply incapable of not making noise. Not getting his nine hours were really taking its toll on the RCMP officer.

Calypso rolled her eyes playfully as she rang him up. “You’ve always been my favorite customer Tristan.” It was interesting seeing him come into the cafe pretty much every day, always had a different mood. “$3.95. Also, maybe this’ll cheer you up a bit, but I gave you a %15 discount.”

location: callie’s apartment

Lake after finally getting her and Callie’s order from Tim’s heading back over to the apartments. Her car made it’s usual I want to die sound as she drove, she hoped that even though it was on it’s last legs that it would keep on trucking on for awhile. There was no way she could afford another any time soon. She arrived at the apartments and grabbing the drinks and the donuts headed up to the their floor. She banged her bum against the door considering her hands were full and waited for Callie to open. “I come with your request- I did not get from The Ugly Mug, I apologize- I just prefer French Vanillas from Tim’s,” she smiled.

It was fairly convenient for the two siblings to live next door to each other. Callie hadn’t been feeling too well for the past couple of days, and each and every moment that passed by, she realized she was in dire need for coffee. Upon hearing the thud on the door, she picked up the remote to the tv off of her lap and placed it on the coffee table to get the door. Opening it wide, her sister spoke. “It’s fine. I was just craving any kind of coffee.” Her eyes were wide, as she tried to grab something in her sister’s hand so she could help. She grabbed the coffee that was so clearly hers, almost black, as she took a sip of it. “Thank you. For this.”

“Ooph, I have a killer headache,” Robin groaned. “Hey. Do you have Advil on you by any chance? I keep forgetting when the drugstore opens. And, gah, I can’t handle bright lights right now.”

“You might have a migraine.” Callie said, grabbing her bag. “Especially if bright lights are bothering you. Here. Lay down.” She gestured to the couch in the living room. “Also, advil.” Grabbing it out of her bag, she got up to grab a glass of water. It wasn’t long until she came back with advil in her hand and a half glass of water.

“I’ll take a scone, then,” Robin said. “Peach green tea sounds… okay, actually. But nonfat chai? Sounds kind of gross. How good do either of those things go with a chocolate scone? I’m in the mood for a good combination.”

Nodding, she grabbed the tongs to get the scone. “Honestly, I think it’s up to you and how you’re feeling. I love coffee, but chais are gross to me. The peach green tea is good but with a chocolate scone? It might be a little weird. “Try it. Sometimes we might not think they’d fit together, but they end up being great. Like peanut butter and nutella, y’know?”

“Sure, you can!” Robin said. “Maybe you just got good vibes going all round. Maybe I’m the good vibes. Anyway.” Meeting Callie at her sister’s wedding had been a hoot, and Robin was pretty glad to run into her anywhere. “What’s the special today?”

“You’re always the good vibes. Anytime I see you.” Callie grinned. They were an unlikely pair, but they got along well, and didn’t get clingy or needy which was nice. Callie hated those kind of people. “Peach green tea, nonfat chais, and one of these chocolate scones. Which are really good, by the way. Highly recommend.”

“Today has been such a good day, and I can’t even explain why.” She bobbed her head back and forth to the imaginary song in her head, as a smile tugged at her lips. “I’m sorry. Welcome to the Ugly Mug Cafe. What can I get for you?”

“The world being weirdly random can be comforting if you really think about it,” Johnnie mused to no one – he just loved hearing himself talk sometimes. “The world itself being not sentient? It can’t want to help you, nor can it want to hurt you. It just exists, you know?”

Calypso was too busy on her phone as she glanced over at the male sitting at the table next to her. “What are you even saying?” A laugh escaped her lips. “How did you-- I mean, like, what goes through your brain when you think about stuff like this? Also, explain, cause I’m curious.” She said, placing her phone down on the table.

Xander had taken the day off today to clean about the house, do his laundry, and relax a bit. The only problem that he faces was that his relaxing time also happened to include what he did for work, so he found himself packing up his fishing gear to head out to the cove for a bit of fishing. He had completed just about everything else on his to do list for that day so all he had left was his personal relaxation time. “Ma I’m heading out now, do you need anything?” He asked sticking his head into the house. “No? Ok stay beautiful.”Lyxander yelled out before turning back towards his truck. 

It was only every once in a while that Callie made trips like this, but really she enjoyed seeing Mrs.Vargas. She was always someone that brought a smile to Callie’s face whenever she came into the Ugly Mug. “Hey.” She said, with a soft smile. “Is this the Vargas residence?” She wasn’t sure.

Imogen had been riding through town on her motorcycle, just enjoying the last bit of warm air before autumn started to set in. She stopped in front of the town’s bakery, dying for something sweet like a chocolate cake. Upon stopping, someone walked by her. “You look like you need a cupcake.”

Callie had just got off of work, as she walked. It was a nice day out and she enjoyed the sunlight. It was much different lighting than the cafe. Her sunglasses on her face, she glanced over at the girl as she got off the bike. “You know me too well.” She smiled, pulling her sunglasses on the top of her head. “Where are you coming from?”

What job would you be terrible at and what job would you be good at?

“I think I would be terrible at being an astronaut. Heights are not my favorite. It takes a lot for me to get on an airplane. As for good jobs? I think I’d be good at teaching. I like kids.”
