What I did within 2 (or maybe 3) weeks of starting TWST:

(First impression and Book 1 edition because I'm still halfway into Book 2 despite starting a month ago cuz I was busy)

Mixed up Kalim's name cause it's close proximity to Jamil, thus ending up as Kamil

Had a hard time figuring out which is Floyd and which is Jade ("Is he the one with the right black streak or the left?"); and even if I know which is which, I was in doubt cause "what if they flipped the frame?"

Disliked Leona due to first impression

Wanted to punch Ace in the face for being an idiot

Also commend him for saying things I want to say (like calling out Trey and Riddle); this was the best for me so far in Book 1:

I will still call Ace an idiot from time to time, but it doesn't erase his moments of spitting facts

Really had the urge to slap Riddle, cause while I now know where he was coming from, acting like he's the only one who's supposed to be right frustrated me so much

Like I want to toss him to therapy

Wanted to strangle his mom though; she's the worst

Sad thing is that some kids irl do have that kind of parents

But she's taking this doctor legacy thing too far- I won't be surprised if she's not even specialized on children development

Note: I've been aware of TWST since 2020 since a friend had been urging me to try, but I uninstalled it a few minutes after installing because I don't understand japanese, and the official english was only released back in 2022. However, it has already slipped from my mind by then until this year; every crossover of it with EAH got me curious and voila.

The most frustrating experience as a writer is having a clear vision in your mind of the story you want to tell but being too afraid to put pen to paper for fear of failing to do the story justice. I’m so scared that my actual execution will fail to meet my expectations that I’m paralysed to even start.

It's frustrating that you can come up with the plot of an entire fic in just a few seconds, but writing it all down can take anywhere from never to forever.

If you can’t think of anything to say about a fic, writers also like to know:

- what time it is

- how long you’ve been reading

- how many chapters you’ve covered in the last 24 hours

- what you were late for because you were reading

- the woeful few hours you have left to sleep

- the emotional outbreaks you’re experiencing

- the inappropriate place you’re having said outbreak

- the general public’s reaction to your outbreak

- how much phone battery you have left

Sometimes, when I read the tags, I had to look twice because I keep getting confused with [SatoSugu] and [SatoGou].

One Port Mafia attack and Atsushi would be like: "Thank god for normalcy-"

And the rest of the ADA be like: "EXCUSE ME-!?"

Thinking about Atsushi adjusting to this new normal after being kicked out the only home he's ever known. And being homeless for at least 2 weeks.

There's a lock on his door that no one will open unless it's an emergency. He's never had privacy before.

He can own things, something he was never allowed to do before. Though the thought of something belonging to him makes his foot hurt.

The only chores he has to do are to upkeep his own living space.

There's no punishments other than a reprimand from Kunikida here and there. No orders, but suggestions and helpful hints.

There's no cage but there's a futon and it's softer than any park bench or street corner.

He doesn't have to sleep with an ear out so he can avoid any cops or other kids trying to attack while he's vulnerable.

Atsushi's safe and it's a concept he doesn't understand.

He doesn't have to outweigh the pros and cons of stealing or trying to find a soup kitchen. There's money in his hands to buy what he needs and it should feel great and it does but it's unnerving.

Atsushi's lived his whole life on survival mode that he doesn't know how to just live.

It's almost refreshing when the Port Mafia are hunting him because this, this is what he's used to this makes sense.

Akutagawa was destined to be a Protector, while Atsushi was fated to be a Fighter.

The circumstances had Aku be a fighter to survive, while Atsu grew to be a protector to make sure nobody suffers like him anymore.

But then, Aku has to learn how to protect in able to grow as a fighter, and Atsu has to learn how to fight to in order to protect those he hold dear.

Thoughts on why:

Akutagawa

has to fight tooth and nail to survive but also ensure that his sister and the other kids with him can survive a little longer (assuming they're the same kids that died in BEAST)

Rashomon is an impenetrable ability - it becomes a freaking armor than can only be ripped apart by Beast Beneath the Moonlight and dispersed by No Longer Human (as far as I can remember)

and in the last episode of the last season, we've seen another version of him utilize it as a shield - meaning he has the potential to protect

Atsushi

BBtM can canonically rip through abilities, space and time

it can to destroy (and literally did so as experienced by Shibusawa) and be a lethal weapon (aka BEAST Atsu)

also there's the self-healing and fast recovery of said ability that has the potential to be a one-man army if utilized properly
