I wanted to write a little thing in time for the one year anniversary of the finale of Murder Drones!

Apologies for any typos or mistakes, I’m gonna pass out like right now lol

A whole year ago, my favorite show of all time dropped the most unforgettable finale. And you know what else? A whole year ago, I had no clue that this show would change my life for the better.

For a long time, I was struggling. I still do, with some unrelated things. But one of the things I struggled with was finding somewhere that I could belong.

Often times I would jump fandom to fandom, rarely having interests that would last over a few months. I didn’t do this solely to find a place I can stay, but I did end up being majorly disappointed at how isolated I felt among everyone else. There was always something that was different about me from those around me, and I’d just stay sticking out like a sore thumb.

Until one day, I saw Cyn. Cynessa specifically! Of course, I’d seen Murder Drones around. I had seen Uzi, N, V, and J long before I ever knew them. But I had never had the chance to gaze upon Cyn. And I felt instantly intrigued.

I ended up making a small doodle of her a couple days later. I figured this would be another case of me liking a character’s design, drawing them, and moving on.

But I felt so drawn to Cyn. As I was sketching her, I found myself becoming rather observant of every single detail she had on her. From the rotting flesh down to the metal! I’d never seen a character quite like her.

Over the next few days, I’d feel this increasing urge to watch the show. My curiosity would end up distracting me to great lengths, and so that’s when I decided I HAD to check it out!

Opening up the playlist, I recognized the thumbnail for the first episode. Turns out, I actually saved the video to my Watch Later list right when it came out and I never got around to it. I kinda got the feeling that this was always meant to happen.

Watching the first two episodes, I instantly became hooked. I never got so quickly attached on to a series like that, ever. Everything about it intrigued me. From the animation style, to the characters, to the story… it felt so exciting, experiencing a feeling like that.

But the most important moment I experienced in the beginning of my journey with this show was the moment I laid my eyes on Cyn in the show.

I had only seen the Cynessa design up until this point, and I already adored that version of her (even though I had no clue what it entailed LOL). And right when I saw that little glimpse of her at the start of episode two… I have no clue how I can even begin to describe it.

I could feel my heart sort of speed up, the way it suddenly bumped so much faster made me flustered. Looking at Cyn felt like I was being graced with the most comforting warmth on a cold winter’s day. There was something that shifted inside of me, and I would have never seen it coming.

Falling in love so deeply with a character that instantly has never happened to me before. I had no idea I could even feel this strongly about anyone other than Venti (hehe little shoutout).

I knew right then and there that I needed to make her mine. And so I did! Cyn is my wife now 🩷

Being able to cherish her is something I never knew I needed. She’s so special to me and my love for her has shaped me in a way that was incomprehensible to me at one point. Something, someone, a kind of love that seemed so out of reach for me fell right into my arms within one night. I feel so incredibly lucky.

I will always continue to love Cyn. She’s my wife and I adore her for all her evil and good.

The more I watched the show, I did end up becoming quite attached to every character as well. For most media I like, there’s always characters that I don’t really like or feel anything towards. But with Murder Drones, I have a good ounce of emotion and care for the characters. Even the ones that show up on screen for like, one minute max HAHA.

Although my love for Cyn has definitely made me biased towards her, there’s still a part of me that likes every other character as well. This is the first time I’ve ever felt a sense of appreciation towards an entire cast of characters. They all play a role in the story, big or small. And I like them all for it!

And before I knew it, I felt sucked into this crazy world of killer robots. I really have never seen anything like Murder Drones, and it heals so many parts of me that I didn’t even realize needed it.

When I finished watching the whole series, I easily made new mutuals. And those mutuals quickly turned into friends. It felt so natural, becoming close with people who adored this show as well. As I began to talk with them more often, I realized that I didn’t feel so lonely anymore like I did in other fandom spaces.

It didn’t feel like anybody was forcing themselves to talk to me, I didn’t have to go above and beyond just to convince someone to hang out with me, and I didn’t have to search for something that I had right in front of me this whole time.

And among these amazing friends, I met somebody so very special. Someone who I was able to click with easily, who listened to me whenever I needed someone to talk to, who was just so wonderfully kind to me.

I still can hardly believe I met somebody who’s so amazing. They gave me everything that I could’ve ever wanted out of a friendship, and now gives me that and more in our relationship.

My boyfriend, Theo, is like my cup of hot chocolate during a storm. Everything around is a little scary, but the warmth and sweetness of the hot chocolate makes it all worth it.

Because of Murder Drones, I met him. I met my incredible friends, and I found a place that accepts me for who I am.

Murder Drones means everything to me. It changed my life in so many ways that I never thought were even possible. This show will forever be held so very close to my heart. Thank you for everything Liam, Glitch, and the wonderful people I’ve met in this fandom 🩷

i have this little headcanon that even if drones are technically unable to have runny noses or get sick in the traditional sense, they can get stray pixels on the bottom of their visors if they sneeze too hard :)

Ah! This ship is so cute! Cyn falling in love with a human and being gushy over it makes me smile. Also, the artist make amazing art too!

Oh! And I did make a little story for the images:

Calliope and Tessa invited Candy over to hangout. Calliope wanted to test out some outfits she made and Tessa wanted to see if Candy would like it.

Calliope requests for Cyn to come help (it’s really just an excuse to try and get her to come and try some outfits on too). And so, usual hangout happens. However, the twins notice Cyn’s odd behavior.

So, Tessa pulls her sister away to have a little chat with her while Cyn has some alone time with the guest. Let’s just say, the girl failure tried to impress and tripped onto her face.

But Candy doesn’t seemed bothered by it. The twins count it as a win!
