IF YOU HIT THE LEGAL DRINKING AGE DURING THE PANDEMIC

I have some free tips for you.

Do not start your "night" out at midday. Start at seven or eight, eat something first. You'll enjoy it more and go longer.

Do not take your debit/credit/cash cards. Take out a set amount of physical cash. The contactless age has made it way too easy to just order round upon round and tap-pay. You won't realise what you've done until the morning after. If you want a card for emergencies/guaranteed taxi fare/kebabs, have a designated cardholder or a "food kitty" (assuming you trust the people you are with)

Are you used to spirits? No? Then stop ordering whiskey.

Cocktails are stronger than you think they are. Sip don't down.

If you feel unsafe, too drunk, poorly, tired or your group are being dickheads, please ask the bar staff for help. We are trained. We can get you taxis, water, a snack. See if the bar you're in has an "Ask for Angela" scheme or similar.

Your bar staff are trained to keep you safe, not just look good pouring a pint. Please ask if you need help. We want you to have fun, kids. Above all, we want you to be safe.

Dearest followers

Coronavirus is serious. Many of you may already be, or may soon have to be, quarantining/self-isolating/exiled for the good of the realm. I'm in the UK and I'll be honest, it's not looking good. I don't know if my job (barmaid) will survive this. But in an attempt to bring some comfort, I plan to write as much as I can. Queen of Winter, getting some one-shots finished/polished, possibly starting to slowly publish some of my WIPs as quite a few are 10+ chapters so I have enough material for weekly updates of five or six stories. Please be safe. Please be responsible. Please be aware that if you are young and healthy, social distancing is not to help you but to literally save the lives of those who are ill, immunocompromised or elderly. Please stop panic buying loo roll. I love you all.

I have reported it to Wattpad as a copyright violation because they don't seem to have any protocol for reporting plagiarism - which is sketchy as FUCK - and I'm begging people to do the same.

I have just found my story, The Lady of Casterly Rock, posted on Wattpad, a site I have never used, frequented or checked.

It is copied word for word, and being passed off as SOMEONE ELSE'S original creation.

As I don't use Wattpad, I can't figure how to report this blatant and frankly hurtful plagiarism.

The Lady of Casterly Rock and it's sequel are and were my best work ever. I poured so much of myself into these stories. I worked so hard and so long on writing them, I'm still trying to write The Queen of Winter.

I feel sick, I'm shaking, I can literally see red.

I have linked the Wattpad story - please, I am BEGGING you, report it. Please help me. I poured so much into these stories. I put so much effort in. I am so proud of them. Now I'm reading MY work under someone else's name. I just...

Grief is a strange beast

Like most emotions, there are stages.

The fear that touches as you hear your mother try and keep it together on the phone as she says things like "palliative care" and "do not resuscitate and "you need to get here".

The tears born more from stress than actual grief as plans begin to be made, tickets are brought and messages are sent.

The sense of purpose as you try and hold it together for the people who need you, but equally think - what do I do? What needs to be done?

The moments of numbness where you don't know what to do but find something because doing nothing is unbearable.

The listless fear as you realise that with plans made and tasks completed, there's nothing left to do. Just to wait and God, but the waiting seems endless. The waiting is worse than the event.

Queen of Winter - update on wtf I am doing with my life

Lots.

I just - oh my God, it's ridiculous.

I have 34 in progress fics in the Notes section of my phone right now and this is just the stuff I am currently actively writing.

This does not include the same number again of stuff I'm stalled on. I honestly think I have, right now, over 70 half-written fics, across MULTIPLE fandoms. I know right now I'm known as a Game of Thrones writer, but I also do Harry Potter, Les Miserables, Kingsman, Glee and Merlin.

I have a problem.

I'm toying with the idea of uploading some of the WIPs to AO3 so at least I can clean up my folders a bit but... idk. Would you guys be in for that?

Focussing ONLY on Game of Thrones for now, I've got the following:

ARRY SNOW - Arya/Tywin - a fic where Tywin figures put who (an aged-up) Arya is at Harrenhal and drags her back to King's Landing and marries her because she's a badass mf and no way he's letting someone that scary out of his sight.

THE PRETTIEST TEARS - Petyr/Sansa - it's a hardcore BDSM fic. Like literally, that's the plot. Modern AU. He's her boss. Think Secretary but with more kink.

THE WOLF - Arya/Gendry - Arya's a psychic/empath who urban-explorer/ghost-hunter Gendry approaches after he and his gang explore the ruins of Harrenhal and a ghost attaches itself to Gendry.

NEW HORIZONS -Arya/Jaqen - Arya fell out with her family and left home at 16. The sudden death of her father brings her home again but there's still a lot of shit between her and her family. Jaqen is her considerably older partner who comes along for support. Honestly no idea where this one will go or end up.

THE RED WOLF - Sansa/Jon. Sansa has left Ramsey, her abusive husband and brought her daughter back North whilst she fights for a divorce. Jon is a brooding ex-Army doctor who has gone into family practise and accidentally falls in love with his best friend's sister. Honestly, this one is just fragments.

Soooo... would anyone have any interest if I put these up for reading, as WIPs, with like zero guaranteed updates?? I kinda just want feedback on if they're worth carrying on.

I've also got a bunch of unfinished one-shots but.... we don't post unfinished one-shots.

Urgh. Ok. Queen of Winter is coming, I swear. I am still writing and editing. God, I am so rubbish.

You know, in a horror movie, everyone always responds with a flight response when they see the monster. But that’s not the only thing that happens when people get scared. I want to see someone choose the fight response. I want to see a character turn around to see the killer right there, scream in terror, and start punching them in the face repeatedly.

Attacking people who write fic that isn’t the fic you want to read won’t make them suddenly stop writing the fic they want and start writing the fic you want. 

They may stop writing in your fandom completely, and there won’t be more of the fic you want; just less fic overall.

Or, they may double down out of spite and write even more of the fic you don’t want, because fuck you, you entitled little goblin.

No I'm kidding (mostly)

I love a Doomed Pairing. They were never seriously going to go anywhere, so I can imagine them going wherever I want. There's a freedom in Doomed Pairings.

Plus, Arya chose Jaqen. She could have just as easily walked away when that Captain told her he wasn't going North but she chose not to. It was one of Arya's only free choices - she did not choose to go to King's Landing, she did not choose to leave with Yoren, she did not choose to be taken to Harrenhal, she did not choose to go with the Brotherhood and she did not choose to go with the Hound.

Jaqen represents choice for Arya - he lets her choose three names, lets her choose to escape Harrenhal and then represents her choice to learn.

I like that in his way, he is the human embodiment of Arya's freedom of choice. So I like the idea that she chooses him, if only indirectly.
