I know "60s housewives who invented slash fanfiction" has taken on a life of its own as a phrase, but Kirk/Spock didn't really exist until the 70s and THOSE WOMEN HAD JOBS. They were teachers and librarians and bookkeepers and scientists and they damn well spent their own money going to conventions, printing zines, buying fanart and making fandom happen. Put some respect on their names.

Was talking with one of my very lesbian friends about body dysmorphia and how you can look at a fucking gorgeous woman who has a lot of the same qualities as yourself and not realize that the complement also applies to yourself. I asked her if she'd been watching Dancing With The Stars this season and she said no.
So i showed her a picture of Ilona Maher from this week's episode.

Her response:
"Thigh. Thigh. Thigh. Thigh. Thigh."
So anyway, the takeaway here is that one person's 'too masculine' is another person's 'thigh.'

TV is too Damn LONG!!!
I feel like TV episodes shouldn't be longer than 1 hour, because otherwise they just seem to drag on.I would say 45 mins is the ideal, but that's my opinion from watching so much Star Trek.
I get that maybe they need to that if it's an anthology or mini-series but otherwise I think it's just too long. There is too much content to cram in and not all of it is relevant.

Thank you for putting this response, I wasn't aware that gifmaking was such a serious thing. I will add everything I have to say to this reblog and this will be the last post I will make on this. As to not drag this out. I didn't have the intent of purposefully stealing the gifs, once I found them on google images my assumption was that they were in the public domain. As technically speaking the person who makes the gif doesn't actually own the original content.
I don't really find it a fair comparision as many people are saying, to reposting oc art. Even though, I now appreciate the time and effort that goes into making the gifs, however the person making them doesn't actully own the content within them. It's a bit like posting a screenshot and claiming you own the screenshot, even if there is no actual original content within it. I digress, because I think that this will not add anything of value but those are my thoughts.
Also, I would like to add my blog was in no way "competing" with the larger blogs. Which is somewhat obvious by the amount of notes. Not that I think you can really compete on tumblr.
One way to remedy this would be for me to go back and properly attribute the gifsets to the original blogs. Perhaps I could redo the posts with the method you mentioned of using the inbuilt tumblr gif function. Obviously, in future I know to not just find gifs on google images.
Anyway, I hope that will clear things up. I still want to post in this fandom and not be intruding on anyone's work.
The Gif Fiasco
First time getting in tumblr trouble I guess.
So, recently one of the main mfmm (miss fisher's murder mysteries) blogs mentioned me in a post accusing me of stealing their gifs. I don't know if I can mention them here as they have blocked and reported me. They also encouraged their followers to do the same.
I have been consistently posting mfmm gifsets as I have been watching the show and wanted to share my appreciation for it with the tumblr fandom. I found the gifs on google images and there was no watermark or anything else on them that would indicate that they belong to one specific person or blog. Also, I would like to add that this isn't even their original content as it is taken from the show in the first place.
Anyway, I can understand if the person was annoyed by this and recongised their gifs. I would rather they have messaged me and explained what was going on, than just make a post about it. I am still quite new to tumblr and do not really know how to make my own gifs. Nor do I think that only a few accounts for one show should be able to only post gifs.
In light of this I will I stop posting any new gifsets. I still plan on writing a short review when I have finished the show. Hope that this potentially clears up this somewhat strange situation.
