Belladonna
Review #614 I gave this (audio) a 4.5/5 star. It was done by one narrator for all the character voices. So I actually read this physical copy a year or two ago. But at that time the other two weren’t published yet. So after purchasing those, I restarted/reread it. This (historical?) fantasy was just as entertaining as the first time I didn’t even remember all the plot points or revelations.…

DNF- Seraphina
Loved the cover and even though I own the duology in paperback, I started it on audio. Unfortunately I was quite bored after an hour & 45 minutes which was only 13% of the total (and only in chapter 4). If you like dragon human shifters who play music, check this one out. It’s slower paced.

The Match
4.0/5 for this easy, quick audiobook Who can’t love a story featuring two service dogs? Single hot dad? Check Strong, assertive MFC? Check Disability representation? Check Two narrators for both male & female? Check I didn’t take many notes since this was a long car ride listen but I’d recommend it for anyone who likes light, clean, sweet romances.

July wrap up
The Darkness Within Us was my highest rated in July. I read one duology by one of my favorite authors.

The Queen’s Resistance
Review #612 I finally finished this sequel! It took me a while to get through because it’s a bit slow. I think I also took a break since I started drafting my next novel. I’m not quite sure if I liked the first or this sequel better. Without remembering what I rated “The Queen’s Rising,” I’ll rate this one a 4.0/5 Brienna definitely goes through a lot. Chapter 2 started with Cartier’s point…

DNF- One Good Reason
It started off great with a James Bond vibe-heroine who needs to hack into a computer. But when she’s caught by a guy and he’s like “I’ll keep your secret if I get what I want…” then kisses her without permission … I was turned off. Just because he’s hot doesn’t make it okay. Sure she seemed into it after the fact, but He doesn’t know that for sure I don’t feel comfortable supporting the…

The Best Worst Mistake
Review #611 Since these reviews are mostly for my benefit, I’m going to change my format. Here’s a few things I want myself to remember: Third times the charm Past foster care trauma Rival lawyers Dax would do anything for Abby. Standalone in a series NY vs LA Plant lady Steamy 2 PoV Audio My only complaint was there wasn’t any big climatic problem moment that everything earlier in…

The Queen’s Rising
I would’ve give n this a different title. I also didn’t like the cover but bought them because I like everything else this Rebecca Ross writes. Upon finishing this book, it could’ve been a standalone. I’m not dying to know anything since it feels complete, but I already own the sequel so I’ll still continue on. I’d rate this epic fantasy romance a 4.3/5 stars. It felt cozy, slow and calm in a…

DNF- The Waitress
Unfortunately I got 50% through this but had to stop due to frustrating repetition. I also wasn’t a huge fan that two of the three points of view switched to third person. Another thriller with an abusive male causing conflict felt redundant, tho representative of this genre. For being such a big shot the Steve guy didn’t seem to be smart. With everything Brent had gone through, it wasn’t…

Say You’ll Remember Me
Review #609 I’ve loved all of Abby’s books but this one is my least fave so far. It’s not light or breezy or an enjoyable beach read. It’s serious, heart wrenching, heavy, difficult and realistic. Definitely not a romcom vibe. Because of that, I’m unsure how to rate it since I went into it with different expectations. The author did a great job making me feel the feels, which is indicative of…

DNF- Quicksilver
600 pages is a lot for me and I didn’t give it enough time to post a real review. I also really like to binge series and the sequel doesn’t come out for a while. In the beginning there was too much heavy world building and telling right off the bat. In the first few pages the overwhelming amount of proper nouns turned me off: Zilvaren City Balea Min Silver City Saeris Fane The Third…

The Darkness Within Us
Review #608 I truly Enjoyed The Darkness Within Us and rated it a 4.6/5 stars. I didn’t know it was a side story after The Shadows Between Us, which I’ve previously read (and gave a 4.4/5 stars). I didn’t keep my hardcover of the first, probably because it had a glossy jacket and I prefer matte. This was for the best because the duo wouldn’t have matched anyway. The copy I have of the spin-off…

Till There Was You
Review #607 Till There Was You is a fun and fast beach read that I rate 4.1/5 stars. I’m not a foodie so the plot about Lexie being a chef and describing ingredients doesn’t do anything for me. But Jake being a singer is keeping my interest. The prose flow well so I have no complaints about the writing and flew through this quickly. I really enjoyed side character of Mia who jumped off the…
