If you die before the ten years and I’m unable to collect from you, your soul belongs to me. Within a few minutes, they stepped out of the trees to the relative safety of the cruise ticketing station. Gaelan told one of the people there to go find Shane’s aunt, and tell her he was here. “Are you alright waiting here for your aunt to come collect you? I have some hungry dinos that need herding away from the river. Can you manage here with James and Katy for a while?”

Shane nodded.  “I won’t slow down, sir.  I like not being eaten.”  He promised, in all seriousness.  His aunt had been attacked, he was well aware that stepping even a toe out of line could mean certain death for him so he wouldn’t disobey the man.

Gaelan grabbed his radio as they began to move, barking out orders to keep the dinos contained for the next five minutes. He explained the situation, and even though he was annoyed that this child was put in danger like this, he didn’t let it show in his voice. “Right, we’ve got a couple extra minutes. But don’t slow down, sometimes the beasties don’t listen to us like we want them to. Your aunt would kill me if you were eaten.”

Shane checked his badge, made sure it was on the up and up, and then nodded.  “Yes, sir.”  Though his words did bring a frown to the youth’s face - they were neither vicious or monsters, just doing what was in their nature and Shane imagined if cows could speak they’d call humanity vicious too.  But he knew better than to start a debate at a time like this so he just moved quickly, it becoming apparent why the boy was allowed at all to work with his aunt - he listened well and moved fast.

Gaelan chuckled softly, shaking his head at her question. “No, I think that’s about all. Thanks for averting disaster, I’ll keep you in mind during the next crisis.”

“Believe me, I know what that’s like. My old man was a complete dick.” Gaelan commented, leaning his head back to blow some smoke into the air. “So, anything I should know about this man or possible changes that might occur if I keep him alive? And remember, if you lie to me I will absolutely find you and rip your spleen out through your throat. I don’t like being lied to.”

“We knew there was a chance, yes. Karen and I prayed he’d be human, but we still loved him so much after we found out he got her genes.” Gaelan stared down at Dylan, watching him fall asleep and sighing softly. “....You would’ve liked her, Sammy. Very gentle and loving, except for two nights of the month. And when I did something stupid, which was pretty often.”

Sam raised his eyebrows in shock and just stared at Gaelan for a moment while he tried to process the fact that the hunter in front of him as willing had a child with a werewolf. “Did you two have any idea what Liam was going to be like when you decided to have him?”

“Of course. Smart lad.” Gaelan replied, fishing through the pocket of his jacket for a moment before pulling out his badge. Gaelan MacRae, Head Wrangler - Cretaceous Cruise. “Right, can we go now? Vicious monsters heading this way, and all. Come on, let’s go, quick march.”

“Shane, that’s me.”  He looked uncertain, mostly because the man was a stranger.  But the adults in his life had said to listen to people with badges, especially in the restricted areas.  “Can I see your badge first?”  He asked carefully.

“We have a few of the guys on the insides of the fences, trying to keep everything contained. Don’t want to shut them in with the terrible beasties.” He smirked, radioing to his crew that the gates were ready to be shut. They’d averted quite a bit of a crisis, considering during one of their pre-opening run-throughs Maggie nearly got herself to the river before they could contain her. “Thanks so much, darlin’. Don’t know what we would’ve done without you.”

“Understandably so.  Can’t say I’d appreciate a gaggle of children coming at me, especially at that size.”  She mused.  “Almost done.”  With that, the gates were fixed.  “The gates are up and running properly again.  I didn’t close them from here since I don’t know where Maggie is, but your boys will be able to close them normally now as well.  But if you need me to I’m happy to just shut them right now.”

Gaelan paused for a moment when he heard that, shock and annoyance going through him at lightning speed. “Fucking hell. Tall bloke? Nice eyes, bit of a seductive smile, very dark hair?” He shook his head slightly. This seemed exactly the sort of thing Cameron would plot. Fucking moron.

“But I was told to meet here. I’m sure of it. One of the park employees told me he’d give me a special tour…whatever that means.”, she explained with a small shrug. “I’m afraid if I leave he’ll think I didn’t want to see him or that I forgot.”
