His attention is on the bomb. J.D. can’t help but be fascinated; Explosives interest him. How many times had he tinkered on something a boy his age probably shouldn’t just to watch the fireworks go off? J.D. could recall sneaking into his dad’s work to mess around with shit a ten year old shouldn’t be in the general vicinity of. 

His attention is so focused on the bomb that he doesn’t know there’s someone behind him until he speaks. “Fuck,” he hisses, jumping and spinning around quickly to meet whoever it is that’s snuck up on him. “Ah... Fuck,” he says again, as of all possible people he imagined to be behind him, this guy isn’t one of them. J.D.’s never seen a guy who looks like this before. “Wasn’t hard,” he murmurs, arched eyebrows lifting as he leans back from Jeremiah.

It seems Jason is always beginning his interviews with those words. Before she even gives him the okay, he’s pulling out his pack and slipping one of the nicotine sticks between his fingers. Lifting it to hold it between his teeth, he fumbles for a lighter while simultaneously holding out the box to her in offering. “I suppose I should thank you. I admit, I didn’t expect you to see me at all.”

His eyes do one more quick glance, taking in an inventory of what he has to work with. The idea of these being used to possibly destroy someone’s home (and murdering them in the process) doesn’t seem to particularly upset Jason, who chews on his lip in thought. “How much time I got?” he asks, already calculating. It was good to have something to do, and better to believe it was the RIGHT thing.

HEADCANON

Heather Chandler was the first person Jason Dean ever killed. I know some people look at Jason’s silence when Veronica says, “Have you done this before?” while he was helping her write Chandler’s suicide note, and they look at it as yes, he’s killed someone and called it suicide before. But for my J.D., he’s silent because yes, he has written suicide notes before, but they’ve been for HIMSELF. When Chandler hits the floor, J.D. just stares at her in this mixture of shock and disgust, and for a moment all he can think is, “Jesus. Did I really just murder this girl?” It’s only really after Chandler’s funeral, when he sees Ram and Kurt attacking some classmates, that J.D. is certain what he wants to do: He wants to kill every last asshole on the face of the planet.
