soup jar, i suppose.
hi. this is @angeliteonfridgeduty and @rinja-espurr's silly co-owned rain world rp blog. also a part time text ask blog. yes you can send in asks and maybe probably receive answers from the goofs. i dunno man. Text in bold is written by @rinja-espurr. this is a multi oc blog too, yaaay. no overly specific rules for the asks really yet, just no nsfw and be a decent human being with common sense please. how to ask or generally start interaction with a specific goof is uhhhhh um. for asks you just. specify who you're asking and then go wild i guess. absolutely fine to ask multiple / all of the ocs. if no character is specified in the ask we'll answer as whoever we deem fitting the most for it for general interaction? i dunno man roughly same stuff except @ this blog in your post. starting interaction with several ocs at once may or may not be fine depending on circumstances. mostly should be good though
some individual interactions count as separate timelines. #get answered you absolute silly - askbox stuff tag
#roleplays at you - non askbox stuff rp tag
#reblog activity - general reblog nonsense
#parti being parti i suppose - NPR roleplay stuff
#disassemblable soup - FSIJ roleplay stuff
#facsimile or whatever idk i dont play sekaiju - Facsimile roleplay stuff
#five nights at 69420 mops's - 5EN roleplay stuff
Currently available ocs under cut (because there is clearly too much text down there)
The following OCs belong to @angeliteonfridgeduty:
1. Fox Submerged In Jewels - most certainly a very normal iterator that totally doesn't disassemble others of his kind or anything, why'd you think that? ..yeah he does do that actually. Initally did the do because he was like straigh up crumbling over there (imagine being built by dumbasses who went all out in looks and did absolutely nothing regarding long term sustainability or can stability in general smhh), then it escalated into a straight up obsession. i did not tell you that just now by the way. he's a normal iterator yeah. his can is totally not near entirely made up of stolen parts at this point. you heard nothing. May often end up contacting the wrong places or disappearing from all communications out of nowhere due to his can being right next to an anomaly that has a tendency to screw signal up a lot.
2. Five Endless Nights - one of the big pile of rather illegal experimental iterators existing heck knows where underground made by totally normal group consisting of 6 ancients and 1 normal iterator who was funding the whole thing because he's interested. well was, i guess. up until the mass ascension. anyway night uhh... His whole thing is that he's. just the puppet. and some neurons. basically an entirely can-less iterator. his name is a direct fnaf reference.
3. Facsimile / Ephemeral Dream - (most of a) backup of a dead iterator's conscience and memories stuffed into a biomechanical slugcat, made by a close friend of the dead iterator during what we shall call the "let's shove this backup of dream's whole conscience onto this scug i bioengineered up and pretend that solves the issue and he's back now!!!" ordeal. Is on the run from said friend, who refuses to accept ephemeral dream is fucking dead and treats Facsimile as if he's 101% ED and should act accordingly, as well as the rest of the local group, who do not approve of the whole thing at all and want to chuck the felid into the void sea or something. Currently hiding inside of some random local region. think outskirts but more ruins, more grass, glowy grass, sligthly dark and wet. kinda like that. Accessing this shithole through a citizen ID drone he nicked. Facsimile is actually a near constant insult from the rest of the local group which he decided he likes actually (so normal) and decided to kidnap as a name. Damn guy how hard must you dislike being called ephemeral dream he's totally not based off of the cover of the slugtennas mod, and his whole lore is very totally definitely clearly not based off of any sekaiju character. he's also totally not named after said sekaiju character. what are you on about.
4. No Particular Reason - silliest iterator in her area probably. she is just some guy. just some guy who is also an avid ancient hater (excluding very few overly specific ones. the rest? do not praise the rest in close proximity of her she will probably start a several cycles long argument (see: the five pebbles blog ancient hate incident)), refuses to acknowledge the great problem and just... fucks around with coding random puppet chamber games and trying to teach the local wildlife how to play those for. you guessed it. no particular reason Also is very interested in the rot. hoards up random mobile cysts originating from different strains and does... stuff with them. we are not aware. (dw they're properly contained 👍). on the occasions she needs more of the stuff or loses any in incidents ranging from normal experiment outcome stuff to "scavenger-induced singularity bomb accident №792364", she will likely proceed to message any rot haver she knows of asking for them laptop cancer samples. at 4 am sharp. y eah h doesn't really have any specific defined pre-mass ascendrink taste test background other than "oh yeah like 99,9% of her ancients were of the shithead variety and generally only viewed her as a silly goofy tool. resulting in The Mindset™. also i plan to have some funny events (totally not actual fucking destruction) happen at that time but i dunno what to make happen yet so. y up post mass ascension she just straight up exists. no funnies happening there yet randomly found Five Pebbles via starting ancient hate and now just annoys the guy on occasions as a silly pastime. she is normal trust me bugs keep ending up all over her guts superstructure and she doesn't even have the slightest clue why. her being full of insect is universal constant i suppose iverall yeah very silly iterator who may or may not hold 69420 extremely personal grudges against ancients in general. she's fiiiiiiine (no)
i will make them normal toyhouse pages or something. later. someday. maybe in like 6000 years. for now you get crappy large descriptions in my very normal explaination format only.
The following OCs belong to @rinja-espurr:
nothin ere yet. void moment i suppose

my craziest take is you can be cis in a trans way if you feel like it. Like its literally no big deal. if you wanna be completely cisgender but still feel as if you're alienated from your agab then you can be cis in a trans way

#may I introduce you to what I'm slowly brewing with SOTU and TS
????Yes hello what are you planning???? 👀
Okay so disclaimers out of the way; I've never written coherent stories so I'm not sure how to put those ingredients of thoughts and ideas into a soup of a palatable text-
But-!
Imagine an Iterator who has been so restricted and conditioned by experiences into building walls around their self, they never got to learn how to express themselves. The yearning to be emotional and vulnerable and kind had to be repressed. (Literally, today's AI irl talks more expressively and emotionally than him.) That's SOTU.
Then time passes, new iterators are built nearby. SOTU tries to spare them the harsh conditioning as much as possible, but at the same time, wants to protect them from being just as miserable as he is- trying to nip excessive emotionality in the bud. (Emphasis on trying, he was just kinda cold and dismissive of things etc, not outright cruel)
Then TS comes around. Plot twist- the nipping doesn't work on that one. They wear their heart on their sleeve no matter what. Once things escalated, it was clear to SOTU that TS is and has exactly what he really wanted from the start; freedom of the self expression and a loving community. Change of tactics; protect TS by enabling instead. And the consequences from which SOTU tried to protect everyone from do eventually happen; the strict, conservative group of Benefactors in charge did not like their iterators so distracted and full of bad karma.
They force SOTU to take action, as the current group senior- the malware incident.
TS is hurt and censored, his freedom taken away, their community broken up, people arrested, and the city under surveillance. The rest of the group scared into hiding, not wanting to end up like TS.
Profound failure.

Inevitable Relativity has joined the party~ (with no confetti yet)
Her story is still a work in progress, but there are some points I can share which are rather unlikely to change, but also not written in stone yet:
- She is the youngest of the group, construction completed not too long before the Public Ascension, (we're still talking about many many years though, just in the grander scale it's not that long) which means she doesn't know TS from before him being silenced, other than what older Iterators might tell her- which normally should make her biased, but she's naturally a skeptical personality. Especially that asking around yields contradicting answers, she's not buying it.
- During her construction another incident occurred; a nearby Iterator has executed and failed a large-scale experiment which significantly damaged the local environment, negatively influencing the daily-life quality. In order to do something about it, a decision has been made to change direction of IR's construction, advancing her into a pollution control facility. That includes on-surface as well as on-structure purifying facilities.
- Second youngest Iterator to her, MOTI (yet to be introduced) became her closest friend as the most friendly one available. She also looked up a lot to ADOE and SoS. (Also yet to be introduced, SoS headcanon ver.) MOTI is like an older brother to her, whom she loves to banter and rival with, as some siblings do.
- Finds it suspicious how everyone seems to avoid the topic of Three Signals as if it's an unwritten taboo. Might be the first one to secretly break the silence one day and talk to them directly.
- She has yet to go through her rebellious phase, still kind of searching for her own identity. She's playful, friendly, cheery and kind of cocky/teasing, argumentative and perhaps a bit overconfident with her peers. With the exception of the group Senior- SOTU, he scares her into a quiet, blank "yes sir" mode, feeling like there is not even a possibility for a debate. (Which is a normal thing to feel about SOTU)
- Fascinated by what the ecosystem used to be like before their existence. Is very attached to existing species and actively puts effort into not letting any go extinct. Always incredibly excited to see new species pop up too!
More in-depth dynamics or quirks of her are still a work in progress... I need to work on the overall story arc and all the other present characters aaaaaaaa-
Feel free to ask me questions about her, maybe it will help me with character building- ;w;

I got distracted by Undertale and Deltarune for a little while but the Rain World brain worms couldn’t bear to be in the back seat forever and they’ve come back with a vengeance
Massive OC lore rambles under cut
ohhh my goodness I have so many iterator OCs I need to think about it’s so many and they’re so interesting since when were my own creations so fascinating (probably ‘cause I haven’t thought of them in a while so they’re like strangers with vague but expandable lore now)
like my very first group! There’s five of them and one of them decides that she wants to go mobile (my little term for off-the-string or outside the superstructure or whatever) but her senior doesn’t like that. She keeps going anyway and he forcibly collapses her structure using tools built by the other guy who didn’t consent to his inventions being used that way. Then some OTHER guy saves the collapsed one and they get revenge or something I don’t remember. The lore is so weird and scuffed because why would a senior blast their junior’s legs off and sink them? Definitely a lot of rebuilding to do and I’m so excited
but then I also have this whole other group of Iterators that were built specifically to represent the karmic sins, virtues, and one more for ascension, eleven in total. They’re all on an island. The sins were built to research and better understand their respective sin, the virtues can use that research and their own to help with understanding how to effectively avoid sin, and the eleventh who’ll I’ll call Absolute for now basically is just Ascension. They’re worshipped more than the others, and basically run everything on top of their task. I’m not going to go too in detail, but basically Absolute brings a shit ton of void fluid to the surface in an attempt to ascend everyone but nobody wants that so it really just ruins the ecosystem and they all collapse and get weird cancers and stuff. I should mention that many of my characters are Iterator Logs (by Daszombes) inspired in some way, especially Twisting Roads’ situation where some sort of organism(s) gets out of control.
While I do have many groups, I tend to make them with a main focus of a certain few within the group, so I’ll point out some Iterators that are more interesting on their own than with the group lore.
One of them is literally just alone, though. She’s built way out over a desert-encompassed lake, specifically to extract void fluid and help deliver it to other Iterators that have their functions more focused on just the Great Problem, or other specialized tasks that would’ve made fluid extraction too inefficient. Her Benefactors didn’t treat her too well, they didn’t really want to be there either, but she still didn’t realize how quiet it would be when they disappeared over the course of about a week. Her details aren’t clear, but I imagine that she, being in a rather tricky region to maintain herself in, both physically and mentally deteriorated quicker than most Iterators. That’s about as much as I got. Perhaps she mobilized and threw herself into the void sea, perhaps she went out and wandered aimlessly until she was found by Dawn’s Civilization (a whole other thing, part of my favorite group’s lore, I like to imagine that most, if not all of my groups exist in the same world, so the Civilization is a nice way to bring them together when I don’t know what else to do and provide a nice ‘what if’ scenario for everybody.)
One of them sees things. They just straight up perceive a different version of the world, as if looking through a different lens than everyone else. It’s real, it’s all there and these sensations attached to past and future events, colors, and intangible presences are all actually a real phenomenon, but nobody else can even detect any of it. Everyone thinks they’re just crazy or attention-seeking, and it drives them mad that they can’t prove themself wrong no matter how hard they try. They’re fun to think about and I really wanna expand their lore to get some sort of story in.
I’m very hesitant to talk about my current favorites because of how much they (specifically the two) mean to me and such, so I’ll yap about the slightly less emotionally devastating ones for now. I think it’d be cool to do one of those things where I post art or text about lore over time, I don’t want to reveal everything immediately but I have like 20 followers and I doubt they’re here to hear about my angsty idiots. So mb yall idk
I could definitely talk more about more of my Iterators, I have plenty, but I think this’ll do for now. Much of the other ones are either tied to the guys I’m gatekeeping or pretty generic, I probably have one wild group left where extra crazy shit goes down. I have every one of my idiots’ names in a note on my Notes app so I don’t forget them because there’s just that many lol
yeeeah, that’s as far as I’ll go because it’s late and I don’t want my post to be way too long. Many many congratulations if someone actually read all of that, thanks for listening to me expose these guys to the public for the first time ever

I think one of the really interesting ways to differentiate your characters is to play with their motivations and their approaches to doing good, in whatever form that looks like.
Some characters may not care about doing good, in whatever form that might take, but in a lot of fantasy/sci fi, murder mysteries/suspense/romantic suspense, etc. there is some push for at least some of the characters to do good in some form or fashion (e.g., saving someone, solving crime, stopping a bad guy).
Not everyone want to make a positive change for the same reason, and this motivating drive can give a lot of flavor to your character.
A common version that I see particularly in fantasy is a sort of vague "this is my responsibility" or "I am chosen to do this and so I must" but there are a ton of options for what is driving characters to do good:
Belief that doing good is required to get into heaven (or equivalent)
Belief that balancing out prior bad deeds with good deeds is required to get into heaven (or equivalent)
Belief that doing good is a personal obligation that people have to their community/world
Belief that balancing out or mitigating prior bad deeds with good deeds is a personal obligation that people have to their community/world
Guilt
Desire to look good
Desire for fame/adoration
Desire to protect specific person or people
Desire to protect themselves from the bad that they are stopping
Belief in the specific action or policy being implemented
Desire to make the world better because they will benefit from a better world
Desire to make the world better because their offspring/descendents will benefit from a better world
Desire for a legacy
If three characters are working to throw an evil dictator, one might be doing it because they are sick of living under the evil dictator, one might be doing it because they think they can be the next leader if the evil dictator is gone, and one might be doing it because they want to be in the history books as someone who overthrew the evil dictator.
Characters can also have multiple motivations for it--it doesn't need to just be one motivation per character.
