I can’t really describe the feeling of sitting in a sold out movie theater, that I struggled to get tickets for, for the 20th anniversary of Brokeback Mountain, during Pride month no less.

I think Heath would be more than happy that this story still moves people, and that it still has just as much meaning to them, and that they will still show up in droves to see it 20 years later.

Heath and Jake knew this movie was a special thing, and I wish he could know how far this movie touched, and how beautiful it is, even if your soul is crushed by the end, and how much Jake still loves and talks about it.

It really means a lot that they both gave everyone who told them it would ruin their career the finger, and gave these characters the love and care they deserved. It still marvels me that a project like this came out at the time that it did, but I think it’s something that demanded to be made.

I think it is a real testament to queerness and love, that it will always persevere, even in the times we’re living in now. And I think Brokeback Mountain teaches us that love is precious, and that you need to share it with the people you hold close, because life is a lot shorter than we realize, and no one deserves to have theirs miserable.

Happy pride month to all of you, and never stop being who you are.

random headcannons i have for john walker

(this started off as so unserious and then got really sad really quick, my bad gang) (slight 18+ warning) - he wears American flag swim trunks - he has blond moments all the time - he used to play hockey and soccer when he was younger, but settled on just football around middle school - he kisses letters before he puts them in the mail box - he refuses to buy Alexi the Wheaties with their picture on it for the tower, due to his superior taste in Honey Bunches of Oats (this is technically cannon but whatever) - him and Lemar used to pregame their football games by shotgunning Red Bulls and then chasing them with Gatorade - his favorite Gatorade flavor is red (fruit punch, do NOT offer him strawberry) - i've been having a hard time picking a pop diva that he would like, i would say it's a tie between charli and billie - he joined the military because of his older brother (also probably cannon) - his sister, Kate, is a Subaru lesbian - she came out to him after he came back from Westpoint, to which he learned their dad was not accepting, and after telling her he loved her regardless, had a huge argument with their dad in the kitchen - he has his brother Michael's birthday tattooed over his heart, and then got Lemar's on the other side of his chest - he named his son Michael Lemar Walker, after his brother and best friend, the only men he's ever actually looked up to in his life - he got his son's initials tattooed somewhere in easy sight so he can look at them in times of trouble (think what he did with that medal in FatWS on his make shift shield) - he's terrified of turning out exactly like his father (who i just KNOW is a horrible person) - which is where he got those anger issues, feelings of inadequacy, desperate need to please, and to be perfect (thanks Caleb Walker)
