Hearing all this stuff about guns and gays and Muslims, I can't help but think that people are missing the point. It wasn't just a person with guns who did this, it was hate. The same hate that so many of us use in our daily lives. Yesterday we heard Lin Manuel Miranda say that "love is love is love is love", well by that same token "hate is hate is hate is hate". The man responsible for that senseless massacre used the same brand of hatred as every one of us. It's easy to put all the blame on him, but the blood of these people also coats the hands of everyone who paved the way for this to happen. It's not simply his fault. This is the fault of every parent who's ever ignored their child when they needed them most. It's the fault of every person who's turned their backs on a friend simply because they are different. Every person who actively participated in any campaigns against providing equal rights to other human beings even though they have absolutely no negative impact on themselves. Every person who returns discrimination against them with an equal amount of vile treatment towards their oppressors. And this goes well beyond gay rights. This has to do with human rights. The cruelty shown by the men who murdered Christina Grimmie and the people in that club is the same hatred and animosity that is right now being expressed towards Muslims, liberals, and conservatives in the wake of this terrible event. The point here isn't too say that those who hate are bad people, because every single one us has made mistakes and will continue to do so throughout our lives. The point of this is to say that we can all do better. If this tragedy disgusted you, then do something more about it than just point the finger at the people directly responsible. Drop the hatred and negativity. Think about the people you might be hurting before you talk against them. These aren't strangers who were killed here. These are your sons, your daughters, your siblings, your friends. And just like everyone else in this world they do not deserve tolerance and indifference, they deserve love. So yeah... I guess that's my point... be nice people.... #loveislove #orlando #carlsagan

I'm not one to usually post these types of things, but one thing I don't understand is why there is such a low turnout for voters. You have California with about 40 million people and only a few million actually vote, let alone the microscopic amount that participate other political matters. It doesn't matter who you support, but it's this major lack of interest that sets the stage for corruption in government. You are the only one who is going to be looking out for your best interest as well as those in similar circumstances; not Walmart, not Nike, and consequently, not a majority of our current politicians. I get that a lot of people don't like politics, but just because you get involved doesn't mean you have to discuss it at the dinner table. It seems like a lot of people want a politician who they agree with for the most part and wait for them to make the changes, but it's our responsibility to shed light on what we want to see happen. This government was designed for people to at least be able to get involved and it seems like as time goes on we're just handing it over to businesses and the like. And while things are still functional, all it takes is a little too much power to tip the scale even more for things to really tank. I know a lot of you don't care for Bernie, but this is the main reason I support him. While he may be running for president, a major goal of his campaign is more to actually create a movement of political motivation. It's more than just about what he believes in, it's about getting us involved in our government so that we can stand up for ourselves. And this is more than many other candidates seem to be found at the moment. While others are unifying people for their campaigns, Bernie is unifying us for us. And whether you agree with his plans or not, that's still something to think about. Tldr; it doesn't matter who you support, but remember that politics don't stop after election day. Also had a ton of fun at the #berniesanders rally yesterday 😀
