kevin day is too iconic of a character like wdym he escaped a cult and people call him queen and he's the best exy player in the world. AND he's a bitch (affectionate). of course his story needs to bookend the whole series. He's Been Here The Whole Time.

marvel social media/pov outsider fanfics you have my heart especially the ones with an outsider's perspective on steve rogers aka captain america
oddly specific captain america fic rec list: in-universe history
these are all fics that have the vibe of "captain america through academia/through history" this is lowk my fave cap fic trope!
Living History: a Ten-Part Talk with Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes | radialarch | T | 1.7k | Steve/Bucky -> Historians.
Behind closed doors: collected oral histories of queer community in New York, 1930-1945. doi 10.1999/journal.amhistqstud.32557038 | wobblyheadeddollcaper | T | 9k | Steve/Bucky -> Steve Rogers, supersoldier and inept historian, confronts the absence of evidence.
The Mysterious Case of Captain America | VanillaBegonias | T | 11k -> Welcome back to this week’s episode of Buzzfeed Unsolved. In honor of July 4th we'll be breaking open an American piece of history and looking into the mysterious identity behind World War Two's Captain America.
The Odd Life & Death Of Captain America | icewhisper | T | 7k -> This week on Buzzfeed Unsolved, we delve into the odd history behind Captain America; a national hero who we still learn about in school, but whose identity is still a mystery.
The Night War: 60th Anniversary Edition | praximeter | T | 109k -> In 1947, Master Sergeant James B. Barnes's surviving field journals were posthumously published as the classic war memoir The Night War. Now a high school history classroom mainstay and required reading at West Point, this highly anticipated 60th Anniversary Edition presents the original, unedited text alongside detailed historical notes that provide important context to the extraordinary wartime heroics of Captain America and the Howling Commandos. Barnes, James B. The Night War: The Wartime Memoirs of a Howling Commando. Ed. Harold Miller. 60th Anniversary ed. New York: HarperCollins, 2005. Print.
United States v. Barnes, 617 F. Supp. 2d 143 (D.D.C. 2015) | fallingvoices, radialarch | T | 20k | Steve/Bucky -> The Associated Press @AP Winter Soldier set to stand trial for Washington D.C. massacre and treason
tin soldiers | idrilka | T | 19k | Steve/Bucky -> In his 2009 book on Captain America comic books, war photography, and American propaganda, Everett claims: “There is nothing to suggest that either the graphic novels issued during the war or the photographs taken during Rogers’ stay with the Howling Commandos can serve as a basis for a queer reading of Rogers and Barnes’ relationship. But even more importantly, there is nothing to suggest that such a relationship ever existed in the first place, and as such, those queer readings are not only misguided, but also libelous” (197). [from: Lynn E. Anderson, Captain America: Behind the Mask. Steve Rogers and the Contemporary Hero Narrative (New York: Palgrave Macmillan, 2012), p. 242.] In the aftermath of Steve's return to the world of the living and the battle of New York, the academia and the Internet react.
Steve Rogers at 100: Celebrating Captain America on Film | eleveninches | G | 10k | Steve/Bucky -> A historical survey, including but not limited to: one set of exploded genitals, a brief interlude in France, Mel Gibson and other masterworks of casting, eight Academy awards, several dinosaurs, and something Tony Stark has ominously dubbed “the masterpiece.”
Steve Rogers Might Wear Tights, but He's Not Your Pin-Up Girl | RosaLui | G | Link to PDF | Steve/Bucky -> Bucky enrolls in a college course about Captain America. It doesn't go well.
Captain Steven Rogers: A History Through Art | rythyme | G | 13k | Steve/Bucky -> “Welcome to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. It is my pleasure to introduce to you all an exhibit that has been many years in the making. So rarely are we presented with opportunities to join art and history in a union as perfect as this one. Though Captain Steven Rogers sacrificed his life for our country more than sixty years ago, his legacy lives on in history books, documentaries, independent films, and now, thanks to our generous donors, in galleries as well. His artwork provides us with a singular perspective of pre-war American society, as well as a unique window into the soul of the American hero himself…."
Subjective Histories | Odsbodkins | M | 11k | Steve/Bucky -> Extracts from materials relating to the official biography of Steve Rogers (A Kid From Brooklyn, Yale University Press, 1999)
Honorable Mention Though it Doesn't Quite Fit the Theme - Exclusive | copperbadge | T | 30k -> Heroes In Manhattan: From Captain America's Hidden Talents To The Truth About The Hulk, We Debunk The Myths And Expose The Daily Lives Of The Avengers.

Something that doesn't leave my mind when I think about weak hero class is how beomseok doesn't suffer any consequences for his actions. He messed up suho's bike, causing him to have an accident. He paid for them to hit him. He beat him up when he had already down. He basically put suho in a coma. And in the end, there are no legal consequences

re-reading aftg and I'm disgusted by nicky. It's been a while since I read it, so I had forgotten how disgusting he was. I remembered that he kissed neil non-consensually in eden twilight when he was drugged, but I didn't remember the other things. He's such an uncomfortable character to read about. Seriously, he talks about getting kevin drunk to make him forget he's straight. I don't know if people know this, but getting someone drunk to have sex with them is rape
