hi im still alive just have not had bug brainrot at the helm in a While

that being said, i had a no good awful terrible incredible idea regarding my latest brainrot: a homebrew hollow knight script for blood on the clocktower

it works alarmingly well and i have most of a script concepted already, but it is a very long way off even playtesting

and if you don't know what blood on the clocktower is... the tldr is that it's the best social deduction game i've ever come across and you should really go check it out

Y’know what? You are completely right. Fuck the limit of 3, I should just think of a way/shape her Soul manifests, and make spells based off that! I mean, there’s even one right there; her name’s Refrain, and her favorite music type is Big Band. Music motif, easy squeezy. I actually have a pair of references for their second and third molts as well, the two between THK’s size and Little Ghost’s size, if you wanna see em?

OH AND FOR EXAMPLES OF THE MUSIC MOTIF

Instead of vines for traversal, it could be measures made of Soul, that actually play the tune inscribed on them as you walk across them? Like the music box-ish sound the Shade/Siblings make! The Focus Shove, as I’m gonna call it now, could be like a field of fast-paced Big Band-style music, like an audial blast that launches things with its intensity! The tracking shots could be individual notes, like quarter, sixteenth, half, etc!

yES!!!! vessels and music my beloved!! that is such a fun idea, and also seems to fit really nicely with what we see of how vessels learn spells. based on what we see of vessels using spells (the knight has a mismatched mashup of random stuff it's collected, and wasn't taught by anyone; meanwhile, the hollow knight has a very cohesive aesthetic to its casts which i tend to assume is from the pale king), my headcanon is that vessels pick up their spells and associated like. visual style from whoever (or whatever) they learned from which! is just something very fun to play with (for example, clock's spells look like that because chime taught it how to channel its soul into casts, and his spells are made of clockwork components.)

i adore the idea of the measures that play music that is so much fun! this theming is stellar

Okay so- I was already gonna have Refrain learn a different spell than Ghost that would replace Vengeful Spirit, a sort of three-blast tracking shot that would do about the damage of Howling Wraiths, and then another spell replacing Howling Wraiths itself with a Focus Blast similar to Pure Vessel’s. Except instead of damage, it shoves things HARD away, like turns a tiktik into a 100-mph fastball style knockback. Need concepts for the third spell, the one that replaces Desolate Dive, open for suggestions on that one. Maybe a variation on Focus that takes thrice as long but adds some lifeblood health..?

And man now I REALLY gotta think about the upgrades to the two I have… Lifeblood is such an interesting frickin substance man i have SO many ideas

instead of dive, maybe vines that rapidly grow along the ground and ensnare anything in range? no direct damage, but makes an opening. could also be used for traversal maybe -- climb the vine ladder that was just made!

also who's to say you gotta limit it to three spells? if refrain is a soulvessel, the sky's the limit. clock, for instance, doesn't really have distinct spells it uses so much as it just... molds the constant stream of soul into whatever form is most useful at the moment. and sometimes that form is a giant clockwork mech made completely of soul!

Hi hello I have a question about soulvessels, stories, and a possible connection that could be formed with the Lifeblood God

What if, due to their fragile nature… one supplemented their lack of void with a source of lifeblood? Not to REPLACE the void, of course, but to help bolster their weak shell a slight bit. Because I’m thinking of incorporating your vessel lore into my story with Refrain (@lifebloodshade) and I want to hear your thoughts on the matter 👀

oh man, that would be so cool! it'd work pretty well -- plus the vessel alignment stuff is meant to be a starting point for your own ideas if you wanna use it, so absolutely go ham!!

there's a lot of fun things you could do! lifeblood-infused spells come to mind, or maybe like... instead of the upgraded void versions of spells (abyss shriek and such), lifeblood versions that have different secondary effects.

heck now i'm thinking about the possibilities! if you wanna bounce ideas off me feel absolutely free, and also please ping me in anything you do with the concept, i'd love to see ^^

i’m over here desperately trying to juggle both my very different flavours of equally rabid brainrot and the bug one is currently losing to the pokemon one.

a massive, years-long project is finally getting moving again because i managed to get moving it was me holding it up kbdfhb and i have so many IDEAS for my ongoing fic series and i just,,,, i,, i JuST –

basically, i love bug. i will always love bug. however, bug will resume when i’m allowed my brain back. i have no idea when that’ll be.

Has anybody ever completed the white palace without cdash?

I recently challenged myself to beat the game without letting Myla get infected, which was fairly straightforward. For fun, I thought I’d try to go for the Dream No More ending as well, but I reached a point in the white palace where it looks like you have to have cdash to progress. Does anybody have any routing tricks or skips I can use to get around this?

I’m a pretty casual player, plus I’m playing on the Switch, so the crazy skips are probably outside of my skill level. The hardest skip I’ve done is probably the spike tunnel into Isma’s Grove using dash slash.

If anybody has tips or videos or anything, that’d be great!
