Coffee Resource Guide
This is a research guide made for someone looking to find a general overview of information about coffee. This would include histories, best practices for brewing, trends, and health effects. This guide would be made for a general audience.
Reference books:
Banks, Mary, et al. The World Encyclopedia of Coffee : The Definitive Guide to Coffee, from Simple Bean to Irresistible Beverage. Hermes House, 2011.
            This encyclopedia contains a general overview on the history of coffee and includes several chapters focusing on recipes that use coffee beans or grounds. Many of the chapters focus on coffee themed or based desserts. This source gives an insight especially on the usages of coffee in cooking, and for a general audience might give more information on using coffee as an ingredient rather than just as a drink. It is organized by chapter, with an acknowledgements and supplier list as well. This was written by Mary Banks, Christine McFadden, and Catherine Atkinson. McFadden and Atkinson are both chefs who specialize in desserts. Banks is a coffee enthusiast and writes works of many genres. This edition was published in 2011 by Hermes House. A reader may want to use this for information on baking or treats that use coffee as a base.
Brault, Len. Coffee Roaster’s Handbook : A How-to Guide for Home and Professional Roasters. Rockridge Press, 2020.
            This handbook is a great tool on home brewing and roasting coffee, helpful to a general public looking to learn aspects of coffee making at home or professionally. This guide is separated by chapters regarding types of brewing with instructions for best practices. This guidebook was published recently in 2020 and was written by Len Brault,  the CEO of the brand Heirloom Coffee. This resource would be especially helpful for those looking for professional advice. A reader may want to use this to learn more in-depth techniques for coffee brewing.
Wintgens, Jean Nicolas. Coffee : Growing, Processing, Sustainable Production : A Guidebook for Growers, Processors, Traders and Researchers. Wiley-VCH, 2004.

This resource focuses extensively on the coffee plant itself, and has chapters arranged by plant matter to production. This guide was written by Jean Nicolas Wintgens, the former world-wide advisor of coffee and cocoa production for the company Nestle. Patrons looking for information on the coffee plant would this highly helpful. A reader may want to use this to learn more about the physical plant and life cycle of coffee.
Higgins, Mike, et al., editors. Lonely Planet’s Global Coffee Tour : A Taster’s Guide to the World’s Best Coffee Experiences. First edition., Lonely Planet Global Limited, 2018.
            This guidebook includes a list of a best coffee places and or experiences according to several editors of different regions. This work is from a popular series that is accessibly written and includes more opinions rather than facts of previous resources. The general public would find this helpful for travelling mainly, but would be fun to look at in any case. This guidebook also includes information on languages, photos of coffee houses, and lists of coffee classes. A reader may want to use this to research food tourism.
