They just released the roster for the upcoming US Classic and I just had the terrible realization that the generation of babies that had random Y’s inserted into their name are now old enough to compete
Our home Olympics is really gonna be like

yes! so in figure skating, spins are assigned point values based on 1) the basic position and 2) up to four "levels" of difficulty. skaters can obtain levels by performing the spin with a difficult entry/exit, variations on the basic spin position, and lots of other things that make the spin harder.
what i imagine this scoring system looking like in gymnastics would be that each "difficult" aspect of a handstand would create a 0.1 increase in d-value, probably up to an E cap. these difficult aspects could be flexibility features, planche, balancing on one arm, difficult exits, etc.
for example, take the phillips mount:

under this system, this element would be a basic press handstand (B) + 0.2 (flexibility & difficult exit) = D skill (which is actually its current value).
i think this idea could potentially create more originality and incentive to do handstands, since many combinations of difficult variations could get a handstand up to a D or E value. that said i'm not a gymnast or coach, just throwing out ideas, so idk if this would be effective or fair in practice haha
fig you want to add a balance/hold requirement for beam soooo bad
