For a holiday about love, Valentines day has several dark points in its origin. 

One popular theory is that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine’s actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death.

Valentines days is less about love for loves sake, and more about the rebellious declaration of love you share for someone society may frown upon for many number of reasons. 

Valentines day at its heart is for those in relationships throughout history who had to fight for the right to express them openly. Those who are together despite differences of race, religion, social background, and the entirety of those in relationships within the LGBTQ community.

So to my fellow humans and androids. Your love is valid, your love is worthy of being celebrated, your love is worth it.

Glass Cage

You feel disconnected from the world around you. You can see everything, everyone can see you, but you're not really there. No one can really communicate with you, can they? You're isolated, even when you're around people you're alone. You want desperately to be close to someone, but you're afraid of what will happen if you shatter your glass prison. about duplicates

Duplicates are friends, not rivals.

Duplicates have the right to rp the same muse as you are.

Duplicates are not here to steal your friends/partners.

Duplicates bring in their own interpretation and uniqueness to their muse.

I do UNDERSTAND there are duplicates who were problematic, like stealing headcanons and ideas from their muns who are rping the same character they are. You have the absolute right to be wary, ignore them, and not befriend them. Though, for the most part, they’re all here to have fun and bring in their own style. And I am starting to notice people are leaving fandoms merely because there are muns who hates “competition”. 

                  Since when did rping become a contest to see who’s the best?

Like I said, you have the right of not wanting to associate or befriending with duplicates especially if you made it known in your rules. But throwing in the passive aggressive attitude and telling others not to interact with them, ostracizing them from the community is not the right way to do it if you feel insecure around them. There’s the block button and tumblr savior. 

Most importantly: You have the right to be insecure, but your mental illness is not a valid excuse to be mean.

OOC UPDATE:

I said a few days ago that my cat had cancer, and that I would update when more happened. His cat scan came back clean meaning he only had cancer in one area. His out of surgery and cancer free but is also on a feeding tube and heavily medicated for pain. I’ll be busy taking care of him for a little bit so please expect lighter activity from me for a week or so. But thankfully he is going to be okay with time to heal. I’m really happy he’s alright.

There was a small bit of gratitude that Connor felt when Simon moved forward to take control of the conversation. It gave him more time to focus on what he was the best at. Analyzing the evidence. So while Simon moved to interface with the now named Andy, Connor started a catalog of the available information. The changes made to the android were...extensive, and sophisticated as well. The investigative software helpfully supplied that the modifications were outside of the skill set of a simple hobbyist or amateur. Whoever had made the physical modifications had been someone trained in the field of machinery. Many of the parts came back with a different serial or even model type. Which in itself was another chilling thought. 

The individual responsible had access to parts from other androids. The software gave the conclusion that with the information available, the most likely occupation of the individual responsible was someone who had access to an android electronic waste landfill. Not the most certain of leads, but an accurate enough guess that Connor closed the program feeling satisfied. With this initial pass over of the androids stat done, Connor moved to focus back on Simon fully who was still in the middle of the interface. 

He watched with a calm expression but no shortage of curiosity as Simon’s face twitched through a series of micro expressions before finally stumbling back out of the interface with what appeared to be shock. The other deviants in the area, skittish already by nature, followed suit and took several steps back from the table. When Simon reached out to grab him Connor reflexively moved to place his own hand over Simon’s. Not quite an interface, but he had seen police officers doing the same motion when consoling a victim or citizen. Humans simply liked the touch and found comfort in it, maybe it could help here as well. 

Then Simon spoke, and the reason made much more sense. “Others? As in whole individual androids?” From the corner of his HUD the note ‘most likely gets spare parts from landfill’ deleted itself before rewriting the line with the updated information. ‘has access to whole androids’. “Zlatko. On it.” There surprisingly was more than one person named Zlatko in the human registry index. But only one that lived in Detroit, Michigan. While Simon reassured Andy Connor finished the search, and he waited until they were outside of the area before saying what he had discovered. 

“Zlatko Andronikov. Lives inside the city. Has a prior arrest for fraud. He was not marked as having any immediate family.” While he relayed the information back Connor glanced one last look over his shoulder at the closed off area Andy was in. “Did you manage to see where he lives? I can most likely find it in the database if not.”

Interlacing his fingers with Connor’s, he withdrew his artificial skin, simultaneously accessing the other’s systems and an online clothing store. It was the same shop North, Simon and himself had gotten their clothes from, and by extension, another Traci, too. “What do you want?” he asked with a slight smile on his lips, eyes wide with thinly veiled excitement. Not that Connor couldn’t feel it through their mind-link anyway. “Another suit?” A little less or even more formal than the one he had been given by CyberLife? 

If Markus was being honest, about anything lacking a bright blue triangle and an Android armband was an improvement. He liked Connor’s suit - a lot - but no matter how good he looked wearing it, the man could use an alternative. One that suited him, by which he certainly didn’t mean the outfit Connor had worn to sneak into Jericho. Markus wouldn’t mind if those clothes just got burned or given to someone who could pull the look off. He wondered what Connor had done with them, mildly curious as to how he had obtained them in the first place.

 "A new tie?“  

It took Connor a second to relax when the connection started, but gradually the tense unease ebbed away when nothing bad happened. It was still new, interfacing with another android that didn’t involve forcibly digging for violent information during an investigation. He had to remind himself that it could be like this. Connecting with another android would not always result in pain. Connor tightened his hold on Markus’ hand before focusing his attention on the website he had brought up. 

“I’m honestly not sure. I’ve always just worn whatever was required of me. The idea of even having a preference is new.” Just like with any new problem he had been given, Connor first started by setting parameters for the mission. While androids may be built meticulously in the image of humans, the concept of self expression had never been programmed in to them. So he set limitations to make the search and choice field smaller. Things that could be worn while working for the Detroit Police Department. 

“Anything that exists within the category of business formal to casual are options at this time.” 

*tries to apply pink lipstick to your lips* Hold still, Connor.

It’s the way Markus says it less like a question and more like an order that has Connor easily sitting up straighter and falling still.
