“no crew, no help, just pure hustle” cut to this poor woman bawling her eyes out. what the fuck is wrong with people? why is this being framed as a good or impressive feat? this person makes below poverty wages already. Burger King meanwhile takes in $27 billion in global revenue every single year. everyone involved in making this woman endure this should be tortured and force fed chicken fries until their heart gives out. fuck this country.

"consult a doctor before using an aid"
A doctor once told me to avoid using my cane and just "move through the pain."
If a mobility aid helps, use it. It will probably take some getting used to, and it might be worthwhile to consult other users of that type of mobility aid for advice.
one thing I will say is that a cane is often treated as a beginners mobility aid when it is probably better to think of it as an aid for a specific kind of range of symptoms. it's not helpful to imagine a hierarchy where everyone starts at a cane and "moves up" from there. I used a cane for a while because it was scary to even consider anything "more extreme" and it fucked up my shoulder + my left leg in the long term, because it's not the right aid for someone with weak arms and bilateral pain
a lot of people say "consult a doctor before using an aid" and sure fine if you have the time + money + resources + a doctor who doesn't suck shit, go ahead! I won't tell you not to! but if you don't have that, the better thing to do is to go to public spaces where they have mobility aids available to rent, and try walking around (e.g.) the museum for a while and see how it feels. sometimes you can also rent aids from mobility shops/pharmacies/etc. learn about what your body needs and what helps the kinds of symptoms you experience and work from there
and if the only thing that works is an ""extreme"" mobility aid, despite you never having used one before? well that's what you need and that's what you should be considering. hope this helps

[ID: two denim patches with raised red fabric paint pinned onto a jacket. The first is in uncontracted Braille and reads, "I can't see shit". The second is in contracted UEB and reads, "if you can read this stop touching me". End ID.]
Shout out to my friends for inspiring some of the funniest patches I could possibly put on my jacket

I will be getting rid of my class 2 ebike, as it's not allowed on any local unpaved trails and even many local paved trails. I've already got a replacement for it. So naturally, I'm thinking of longer rides I'll be able to do as I rebuild my strength and endurance.
Way back in high school, I wanted to go for an All-Night Skate. My plan was to take my skateboard and just skate around my hometown all night. South San Francisco had a curfew for kids 14 and under, so my plan was to wait until I was 18 and give it a try. But, I never did so.
I'll turn 56 next week, and skateboards are definitely in the past for me. But I've been thinking of an All-Night Bike Ride instead. But at this point, I have a better idea of what this would entail.
I used to work the night shift, from 11pm till 8am. It can take at least 1 whole day to turn my sleep schedule around so I can be nocturnal. Then, I'd need about a day or so to return to a diurnal schedule. So, I'd need about a week for this whole thing.
There's also the issue of lights for the bike. I don't know if the lights I currently have will last all night. I began to think that the Summer Solstice would be the ideal night for this ride as it would be the shortest night of the year. But even accounting for the low-light conditions of dusk and dawn in addition to full-dark, I might still need lights that can last for at least 8 hours.
What would be might route? Well, there's the Bay Trail which I could use from between the San Francisco and San Jose Caltrain stations. But there are gaps in the trail. And as most parks are closed after sunset, any stretches of the Bay Trail which go through parks would be off-limits.
Heck.
Another idea would be to take the train to SF, ride the perimeter to Ocean Beach and take Skyline south out of The City. If I road only on streets and avoided bike and multi-use paths, I wouldn't have to worry about park hours.
But one question which still looms big in my mind is, "Why at night? Why not just do an all-day ride instead?"
The main answer is, "Because an all-night ride sounds like fun." But also there would be less traffic at night so in that regard it could be a bit safer. But in the dark visibility is limited, so that might negate any safety afforded by less traffic.
I guess I'm a little old for such plans. But I have to admit the idea still seems like fun.

“what if kids identify with something and it ends up just being a phase-?” good. stop teaching and expecting kids (and adults honestly) to formulate permanent traits and ideas of themselves. everything in life is a phase. that doesn’t make it any less legitimate while you experience it. let people explore themselves and know it’s okay if what you think about yourself changes.

But at the same time, remember that search engines are NOT impartial. This is especially true for Google and Bing. I'm not entirely sure about Duck Duck Go or Ecosia.org.
Be sure to append " -ai" to the end of your search strings. My experience is that this doesn't always filter out AI answers, but can limit them.
Wikipedia seems to be a fairly reliable source, and its articles are supposed to include links to other sources as well.
i understand schooling in the usa sucks but i do think there reaches a point where blaming your ignorance on your education system starts ringing a little hollow. like girl you know you don't have to stop learning new things the moment you graduate highschool right. you can look things up before you say them. your browser has a search bar. the internet is at your fingertips. please........

Original Post
Image description: A photo of what looks like from a magazine or newspaper reads as follows:
Note the logic If some people want to rely solely on digital financial transactions, let them. But don't take away cash from the rest of us. My $50 note can't be hacked. If I'm robbed, I lose $50 not my entire life savings. If my $50 note is accidentally immersed in water, it still works. My $50 note doesn't need batteries, it can't be "out of range" and it won't break if it's dropped. If the system is down, I can still use my note. My $50 note can be put into a charity box or given to a homeless person. Sure I can use a card sometimes for large purchases, but for everything else please leave me the option of cash. It just simplifies life. Julie Christensen Blackburn North

Here are the '80s songs I heard while out for breakfast this morning.
"How Will I Know" by Whitney Houston
"Two of Hearts" by Stacey Q
"Let's Groove Tonight" Earth Wind & Fire
"Smalltown Boy" by Bronski Beat
"Heart of Glass" by Blondie
"The One I Love" by REM
I can, and probably will, write a blog post regarding why I consider "Smalltown Boy" by Bronski Beat to be an anthem if not a hymn.
