Post-Critique Response
My strengths in this piece were the concept of the piece and using receipts, flyers, and events. A lot of people said that they like the concept and the process of the piece. They like how the backpack creates the marks and it’s not myself, the marker switch when my emotion changes. People like how I use receipts, flyers, and events as the base for the markers. It shows people where I have been or what could cause the emotion to change.
My weakness in this piece is the presentation. A lot of people said that I should do something different with the presentation, I agree because I had a tough time to display since they are papers that are different sizes. I would improve it by putting it in order by date of the receipts. I would do this method by trim some of the receipts since some of them are huge then I would line them up in order by the dates. Also, I could do a timeline type of display since I have two long receipts, I could trim one of them and make the other as the timeline.
I learned that there are a lot of ways to make marks without using humans. For this project, I used my backpack to create marks and the other artist uses his pockets to create the marks. I might continue the series to try out other objects to see if they will create marks. Besides that idea, I wouldn’t continue this series because it feels like my strongest piece or one of my strongest pieces that I made this class.

Post-Critique Response
My strengths in this project were the form of the orbs or bubbles, the perspective,  and the colors of the background.  People said that they like the form in this piece with the size of orbs decreases as the orbs going towards the house. Also, they like how the orbs reaching to the top of the canvas. They like the perspective of the orbs which they make think you are far away from the figure.  They liked the color choices for this piece because it blends well with the orbs.
My weaknesses are the house and the orbs at the top. They said that the house was too small to be a house which I agree with. I thought making it smaller can give an illusion of the house is far away. I can improve from this house by making bigger with white and black paint to change the structure of the house. They also point out how there’s a lot of negative space at the top of the canvas. I can easily improve it with black and graphite by drawing the orbs with graphite then paint it black.
I learned that you have to be careful with paint because I had a hard time to paint over the green with yellow. You can still see some part of green in the yellow. I might do a series of paintings with different colors but keep the forms. I want to test different colors that mix well together. Also, I might try different shapes instead of arcs because I feel like it can create more of a challenge.

Week 10
I started the week with blue (excited) when I noticed that we have two more weeks until Christmas break. My emotion turns into green (neutral) when I’m calm and nothing crazy happens. My emotion turns into orange (sick) when I woke up with a sore throat and a running noses. My emotions turn into purple (sleepy) when I have to wake up for my morning class.

Place Proposal
The form for this piece I am doing an imagination/ fictional land featuring my dad’s house. The size of my piece might be the same as the 22x3 identity piece, I want to stay out of the 18x24 range. I want to experiment more with paint because I want to try something new and I didn’t use paint since  2-D.  I will use a canvas, paints, brushes, sketchbooks and graphite pencils for this piece. I would not use a frame for this piece since it’s a canvas. The piece will look like a field of bubbles or orbs leading up to the figure and my dad’s house.
First, I will sketch out the design of the land and my dad’s house on my sketchbook. I might use a 4h pencil to sketch out the design on the canvas before I paint or I should paint the background then sketch the design. After the sketch, I will start to paint in the sketching. The meaning behind this piece is my journey to my dad’s home, my dad never moves out of his house and my mom moves a lot. I have good memories of my dad’s house, the place never changes which I like it.

Project Ideas
Idea #1
I Love Comic Books!: I will go to my local comic book and take pictures of myself interacting with the environment, what I do, and outside of the building. I might use my phone as a camera or probably get a camera from the visual library. Of course, I have to get permission from the store owner to take pictures. The meaning of the piece is how comic book store makes me feel safe and feel like I’m home. I see other people who love comic books like me and understand me.
Idea #2
Welcome to my World: It will be similar to Friedrich’s “Wanderer above the Sea Fog”, the figure will be my original character and the scenery will have my original characters roaming through the city. The figure will watch over the other characters. I might do paint for this one because I want to try something new and I want to get out of my comfort zone. The meaning behind the piece is being your own world and express your imagination.
Idea  #3
Home Sweet Home: The form of this piece is my dad’s house, I will try to use paint outside of the house. I will take a picture of the home and I will practice drawing the house on my sketchbook. I will start to draw it with 6h graphite pencil on the canvas, I will start to paint the canvas with the appropriate colors. The meaning of this piece is a home that never changes and a home I wasn't moving out.

Artwork: Wanderer above the Sea of  Fog
Artist: CASPAR DAVID FRIEDRICH
Weblink: https://learnodo-newtonic.com/famous-landscape-artists
Form: A man on the top of the mountain looking over the sea of fogs and the mountains.
Content: I think the meaning of the piece is being the king of the world because the person is at the highest peak of the mountain and look over the land.
Process:  I think his process was researching landscape then started to draw out the plans for the piece. He drew out on the canvas then started to paint it.
I chose this piece because I like the perspective of the person and I want to try something similar to this piece.

Artwork: Two Pink Trees Beach Road
Artist: Horvath
Weblink: https://www.etsy.com/sg-en/listing/646509550/beach-road-tree-original-art-12x12-folk
Form: Beach houses near the water with tall trees and bushes. There’s a road leading up to the houses which guides you to the piece.
Process: I think Horvath draw it out on the canvas then he started to paint over it.
Content: I think the meaning of the piece is peaceful land because of the warm colors and scenery.
I chose this piece because I like how Horvath paints it and I might step out of my comfort zone to do a painting.

Artwork: Alien Landscape, Artwork
Artist: Richard   Bizley
Website: https://fineartamerica.com/featured/7-alien-landscape-artwork-richard-bizley.html
Form: This is a planet filled with life, but it’s not Earth. Weird bird creatures are flying across the ocean. Volcano eruption in the distance like on Earth. This planet doesn’t feel Earth with the huge planet in distance and weird looking plants.
Content: I think the meaning of the piece is beyond the imagination because this planet doesn’t feel like Earth and it’s not Earth. Also, the artist believes there’s life in the galaxy.
Process: I think he did sightseeing for lands and start sketching ideas for them. Later, he started to sketch it out on the canvas and he started to paint it once he finished the sketch.
I chose this piece because I planned to do a fictional landscape and I like the creativity for the planet.

POST-CRITIQUE RESPONSE
My strengths in this project were the texture of my fingerprints, the form, and the size of the piece. As I remember, people like the texture of the fingerprints because it represents the physical with identity and fingerprints are unique to yourself. The form looks like me in profile view, frontal view you wouldn’t notice the person. The size of the piece seems life-size for me. My weaknesses are missing the eyebrows, some of the fingerprints should be darkened, and I should take off my hood. In the piece, I have my facial hairs but I forgot to put on my eyebrows on the piece. The darkened fingerprints should have been my clothes or the wrinkle of my clothes. I should take off my hood because it would be better to see my head.
There are some ways to improve on the piece. I can improve adding the eyebrow on the face with the fingerprints. I think I can add my original logo behind the head or next to the head. I should show my whole head because it would reveal more of my identity. Another improvement could be darkened the fingerprints in some areas. I will implement it on revealing my head because it will cause more impact and I can add the eyebrow if I implement it.
I develop to get used to doing giant work because I have been small size pieces or medium size pieces. I was surprised the form of the piece wasn’t bad or seem out of place. I developed a skill draw with fingerprints, I can do pieces of fictional characters with my fingerprints.  I learned how long the darkened print lasts on your fingers.
I will continue this line of work by doing fingerprints of fictional characters. These fictional characters have a huge impact on my life. They help me through the dark times and the good times. They help me stay on this Earth longer. The fiction characters are Ed from Ed Edd n Eddy, Tom and Jerry, Nightwing from DC Comics, Ed Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist, and Kratos from God of War.

Proposal: Identity
Title: Thumb Me
The form for this piece is a silhouette of me using paint or ink without using paintbrush but I will use my fingerprints as the paintbrush.  I want to go bigger than 18x24 sketch pad with a matt board, I’m still thinking about the measurements for the board. The matt board is good for this piece because it captures the texture of my thumb with the paint or ink. The position of the silhouette might be a profile view or a frontal view. I might not frame it because I want to do something different and I feel like it’s better without a frame.
My process is to sketch out the design of the silhouette on my sketchbook with graphite before I put it on the matt board. I will draw the silhouette on the matt board with 4H graphite. I will start paint or ink over the drawing with my fingerprints. The meaning behind the piece is physical identity with my fingerprints. The fingerprints represent me because there are no fingerprints like mine which fingerprints can make you special in a way. Fingerprints are part of you forever until death.

Project Ideas (Identity)
Idea #1
Thumb Me: The form is a silhouette of me in ink or paint but instead of using a paintbrush, I will use my fingerprints.  My process is to find a picture of myself and use it to draw out a silhouette. Next, I will dip my fingerprints in the ink or paint and I will do practice runs. Once I’m done with my practice run, I will start tracing the silhouette with my fingerprints by tapping it on a paper or canvas.  The meaning of this piece is physical identity, people can be identified by their fingerprints.
Idea #2
I am A Nerd: The form is a self-portrait with a collage of images that makes me what I am today. The image will consist of comic books, anime, and video games. My process is to use a picture of myself as the based and I will use images of video games for the face. I will use images of anime for the glasses and the eyes. I will use images of comic books for the clothes and the lips. The videogames represent tough skin. Anime represents how much I watch it and respect the culture. The comic book represents how it save my life and I can talk about it all day.
Idea #3
Peace Out:  The form is a 3-D peace sign of my fingers by using wire. My process is to draw out the form in all directions.  With this practice, it helps me get an idea of what could it look like in 3-D. I will start wired up the arm until it reaches the wrist. I will start making the hand and the finger then the peace sign. The meaning behind the piece is I believe in peace can be achieved in this world.
