This is me exactly five years ago, a mere 24 year old girl with her first published poetry book in her first popup store at Readz. I had no expectations, I was just trying my best. It was a risk. I put in all of my savings into this dream not knowing if the general public would receive it well. I just wanted to do it, fail, and move on. That's how I treated most of my dreams. I make up new ones as I go. But I'm so glad to be still doing it after five whole years. It's quite a miracle really, to have people see value in my work. Just want to thank everyone involved in the process. Two roads. 🛣️ A simple reminder about how we should think about our goals. Your intense efforts might not equate the return of reward and that's okay. Life does not exist to justify your efforts. Have healthy relationships with goals and move onto the next with the things you've learned. -- Inspired from all the flashbacks I've been getting as a student from the @impiankencana 's SPM clubhouse session the other day. Also, the Backyardigans. Ugh. Tiktok, why? Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, But I took the one less traveled by. The journey was tough and I did all I could, And returned to the road most traveled by. Went back to school and listened well, Learned the craft and got out of my shell. I got much older, became a little bit wiser, And returned to the woods with a plan and a charter. And there it was, two roads diverged still, One beautiful and the other promising thrill. We chanted once and set foot thither, Very afraid and a little brave together. We threaded carefully into the thick of it, And found ourselves further up the split. Aha! We're back on the road most traveled by, Cracked a laugh and said our goodbyes. My universe. 🌍🚀🧑‍🚀 This is a long one. I'm so so so proud of this piece because I reflected and edited so much. 😅 Had like 20 different perspectives screaming at me all at once while I was writing this. I was having a conversation with a friend the other day about having children during these times and we were both so pessimistic about it. hahahaahah. But this is a poem of how having these miracles in the near future can still be a good thing. 🙂 I'll remind myself of this when my time comes. #freezeeggsdulu My universe, I've loved you, Before I've even met you. Never did I expect, That someone so perfect, Could come from someone so far from it.
